Chapter 755 - The Golden Glow of Wushuang Sect

Yun Jin finally understood what it meant.

She frowned slightly.

Cultivation techniques of every attribute often held a living being's insight into the Dao itself. The number of manuals in her collection was already enormous, but her progress still lacked the final seventeen percent.

That gap wasn't small.

When would she be able to fill it completely?

[Host, living beings in this world aren't limited to the Human Race,] the system reminded her.

Her gaze flickered.

Living beings weren't limited to humans!

The total comprehension within the Human Race might only make up eighty-three percent. Maybe she'd missed some manuals, and gathering all of them could push it past ninety, but still, she wasn't sure.

However…

Those remaining manuals were almost impossible for her to get now. Even if she did, they might not be enough to perfect the Law of Water. Outside the Human Race, there were still countless living beings. Those attuned to the Dao of Water...

The answer was obvious.

Her chance to perfect her comprehension of the Law of Water probably lay somewhere in the Boundless Sea.

The Boundless Sea was home to endless sea beasts, all born with water-attribute constitutions. They might possess multiple attributes, but among them, there was always one related to water. The Boundless Sea's territory was vast, over ten times the size of the land regions. As for its creatures, their numbers were endless—far exceeding those of the Human Race by thousands or even tens of thousands of times.

Although sea beasts had a harder time cultivating than humans, their sheer number made up for it. With such a massive population, Yun Jin even suspected that the top combat power over there might surpass humanity's. If she wanted to quickly complete the Law of Water, she had no choice but to head for the Boundless Sea.

Yun Jin walked toward a nearby machine. It had a small screen that could help her filter missions. After she set the region to the Boundless Sea, all the missions displayed were from there.

According to the rules of the Mission Hall, once a cultivator was teleported near the mission site, tapping the teleportation again would bring them straight back to the Wushuang Sect. If a mission failed, the system would immediately pull them back.

For timed missions, anyone who failed to finish within the deadline would also be sent back automatically. If they completed the mission but didn't trigger the teleportation manually, they could remain in that area for up to one month before being forced back to the sect.

To go to the Boundless Sea now, Yun Jin had two options.

The first was through Yuan Yuan's spatial channel, which could directly teleport her near Lan Xi's location.

The flaw with Yuan Yuan's channel was that it could only target someone whose comprehension of the Yin-Yang Law had reached a certain level. In that region, only Lan Xi met the requirement.

The second option was to go through the mission system.

As long as she accepted any mission located in the Boundless Sea, she'd be teleported there. Once she finished, she could stay for up to a month. After returning to Wushuang Sect, if she wanted to go again, she only needed to take another mission.

The first option guaranteed that she'd appear in an area where the cultivators weren't weak. After all, Lan Xi was a powerhouse at the late Mahayana stage. But suddenly teleporting there without knowing the situation carried some risk.

The second option was more flexible, and depending on the mission she chose, the danger would remain within a controllable range.

Yun Jin looked through the Boundless Sea missions and pondered for a moment before refraining from taking any. It wasn't time yet. She needed to deal with matters concerning the subsidiary sects first. Besides, since the disciples had only just begun using the mission system, she wanted to see how their missions were going.

On the left side of the hall stood another screen, playing random clips of Wushuang Sect disciples performing their missions.

A crowd had already gathered to watch.

Yun Jin joined them with interest. After all, it was the first day.

The disciples were cautious, none daring to take missions that were too high-ranked. They mostly chose simple ones to test the waters.

She soon spotted Ye Cheng among them. He had accepted a D-rank mission. A mortal village's farmland had suddenly withered for no reason, and he needed to investigate and restore it.

Ye Cheng possessed a water-attribute spiritual root and excelled at planting. After landing in a secluded spot nearby, he entered the village and quickly discovered the cause—a Fire-Tongs Worm hidden beneath the soil.

After eliminating the worm, he used his water techniques to restore the land and even taught the villagers some planting methods. His personality was kind, and his patient guidance moved them to tears.

One of the grateful villagers asked, "Immortal Master, may we know where you come from? Could you leave your name behind so we may offer incense to you in gratitude?"

They didn't expect an answer.

Most immortals acted on whim and rarely revealed their names.

But Ye Cheng had clearly been waiting for that question.

He smiled and said clearly, "I'm a disciple of Wushuang Sect. If you wish to offer thanks, build a statue of our Sect Master Yun Jin. Remember, it's Sect Master Yun of Wushuang Sect! Don't get it wrong!"

Only after the villagers promised repeatedly not to forget did he tap the teleportation icon again.

The moment he returned to the Wushuang Sect, Yun Jin greeted him with a look full of approval.

She patted his shoulder. "Good, good, good. As expected of my personal disciple! Everyone, learn from Ye Cheng and spread the name of Wushuang Sect far and wide!"

Ye Cheng grinned, just about to speak when a flash of white light shone over him.

The large screen chimed, [Wushuang Sect disciple Ye Cheng has over-fulfilled his mission. As the first disciple to achieve this, he's rewarded with an immediate one-level increase in planting skill.]

Ye Cheng, who'd been a fifth-grade planting master, instantly advanced to sixth-grade.

The hall erupted in noise. So there was such a hidden setting as 'over-fulfilling' missions? If Ye Cheng earned this reward for being the first, what kind of bonuses would other 'firsts' bring?

Excitement surged. Disciples began taking missions in droves.

Gao Jingxuan and Su Lingling were no exception, both eager to join in.

Gao Jingxuan, already in the Golden Core stage, picked a D-rank mission located in the Sword Sect's region. The mission description said a loose cultivator was being hunted. He could choose to save that cultivator or aid the pursuers. Either option counted as completing the mission.

Su Lingling, meanwhile, took an F-rank mission to find a runaway long-haired cat in the Spirit Beast Forest.

Both of them completed their missions smoothly.

After investigating the situation, Gao Jingxuan chose to help the hunted cultivator. Su Lingling found the cat and brought it home safely.

As batch after batch of disciples finished their missions, Yun Jin noticed that the Mission Hall's name color in the system had changed. It had been white before, but now it faintly gleamed with gold.

"System, what's going on?" she asked.

[The missions within the hall aren't all acts of kindness,] the system explained. [For example, Gao Jingxuan's task could've been completed by killing that loose cultivator instead of saving him. But because he chose to find out the truth and help the one in need, Wushuang Sect has moved a little closer toward the path of benevolence. The mission system accepts the will of all living beings. Some carry goodwill, others malice.

Certain missions even demand direct killing.

In the Demon Realm, the system received one from a demon who intended to refine a weapon using the full blood essence of a thousand humans. That mission would've appeared here as well.

The disciples' actions will gradually influence the kind of missions that appear. If Wushuang Sect's overall direction leans toward kindness, more benevolent missions will show up in the future, and the malicious ones will decrease.]

After listening, Yun Jin nodded slightly. It seemed this Mission Hall had far more hidden mechanisms than she'd expected. She and her disciples would need to explore them together.

Just then, the hall's screen flickered again, displaying a brand-new mission.

[S-Rank Mission: Intercept Outside the Boundary!]
