The annihilation of the Yunlan Sect sent shockwaves throughout the Jia Ma Empire. At first, many thought it was just a ridiculous rumor. After all, that sect had stood unshaken for a thousand years—even imperial transitions hadn't affected its prosperity. To the people of Jia Ma, it was a sacred place of cultivation. How could something so eternal be destroyed overnight?
Yet when they discovered that the mist-shrouded mountain range had completely vanished from the empire's map without a trace left behind, they had no choice but to believe it: the Yunlan Sect had truly become history. What was even more bizarre was that no matter how thoroughly later generations investigated, they couldn't find any clue about what had caused its disappearance. And so, it became one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in Jia Ma Empire's history.
But none of that mattered to Xiao Yan anymore. After destroying the Yunlan Sect, he returned to Starfall Pavilion with his women. The affairs of the Jia Ma Empire had become nothing more than fleeting dust to him. He no longer cared about worldly matters—his focus had shifted completely to preparing for the journey to the Great Thousand World.
By now, his strength had far exceeded the realm of Dou Di. In recent days, he had sensed the call from the Great Thousand World many times. He had only suppressed the pull because some matters remained unfinished. But now, with everything settled, it was finally time to go and witness that higher realm with his own eyes.
The quiet days Xiao Yan spent recently had made Xiao Yixian and the others increasingly aware of something. They stuck to him closely during that time. And Xiao Yan, in rare fashion, stopped his relentless cultivation and calculating schemes. He simply accompanied them quietly, enjoying the peace that had been so hard-won.
This peace lasted two months—until it was broken by a terrifying fluctuation.
Clear skies suddenly churned with wind and storm. A vast surge of energy roared in from every direction. The phenomenon stretched across the entire Dou Qi Continent, drawing the attention of countless powerful experts.
And yet, amidst the awe of heaven and earth, only Xiao Yan remained calm. He silently raised his head and looked toward the endless void. The fabric of space itself tore open rapidly, forming a pitch-black vortex. Within that passageway, Xiao Yan sensed a familiar aura—Origin Qi, the very force that had once disappeared completely from the Dou Qi Continent.
"Is that the world above the Dou Qi Continent?" Behind Xiao Yan, a black-haired man stared at the rift in awe. It was clearly the first time he realized that other worlds even existed beyond this one.
That man was Xiao Xuan—the ancestor who had perished a thousand years ago, revived by Xiao Yan using the Temporal Heavenly Mark. After Xiao Yan passed on the Ancient Emperor's legacy to him, he had also broken through to the level of Dou Di. Now, like Xiao Chen, he remained in Starfall Pavilion to protect the Xiao Clan, which had only recently reawakened its Dou Di bloodline.
"That's right," Xiao Yan nodded lightly. "The ancient Dou Di experts disappeared because they ascended to realms beyond the Dou Qi Continent. That world should be far more magnificent. Ancestor, would you like to join me in exploring the Great Thousand World?"
"I'll pass. Someone needs to stay and guard the Xiao Clan." Xiao Xuan hesitated, then slowly shook his head. Although he deeply longed to see that new world, the Xiao Clan had only just begun to revive. While they now had the strength of a Dou Di family, they lacked matching Dou Techniques and Qi Methods. Without a powerful guardian, history could easily repeat itself.
"In that case, I'll leave it to you, Ancestor." Xiao Yan cupped his fists. "Once I establish myself in the Great Thousand World, I'll return to bring everyone with me."
"I'll be waiting for that day." Xiao Xuan had no doubts about Xiao Yan's ability. After all, this youth had become a Dou Di before turning twenty, and without relying on a bloodline. His talent was terrifying. The Great Thousand World might be a hundred times more dangerous than the Dou Qi Continent, but he firmly believed Xiao Yan would thrive there.
Even though he himself was now a Dou Di, Xiao Xuan could still sense the massive gap between his power and Xiao Yan's. He figured that if they actually fought, he would lose within just a few exchanges.
While the two spoke, Xiao Yan's companions gathered behind him. They had sensed the terrifying disturbance was caused by him and knew what it meant—Xiao Yan was about to leave this world. Though they had long expected this day, facing it for real was still hard to accept.
"Xiao Yan… you're leaving, aren't you?"
Xiao Yan gave a gentle nod. If he hadn't known, it would be different. But now that he knew of the Great Thousand World, there was no way he could be satisfied staying here. Still, he understood this departure was unlike any other. The distance between the Dou Qi Continent and the Great Thousand World was unfathomable. He might not return for a very long time.
"Little one, that world will be much more perilous than this one. Be cautious. I believe in you—and I'm proud of you. No matter what, you've always been the disciple I'm most proud of." Yao Lao looked at Xiao Yan with a sigh. He had known Xiao Yan was extraordinary, but even he had never expected such monstrous growth in under ten years.
"Teacher, I will." Xiao Yan cupped his fists once more. Then he flicked his finger, and a glowing orb shot from his hand into Xiao Xuan's palm. "Ancestor Xiao Xuan, after I leave, please deliver this Emperor-grade Nascent Pill to Zi Yan's father. It will help him reach the Dou Di realm faster."
"You mean the old Dragon Emperor of the Ancient Void Dragon Clan? Understood." Xiao Xuan nodded solemnly. Thanks to Zi Yan, the Ancient Void Dragon Clan and Starfall Pavilion were allies. Helping an ally produce another Dou Di was excellent news for both the still-recovering Xiao Clan and the dragons.
Now that Origin Qi had returned, becoming a Dou Di was just a matter of time. But with this Emperor-grade Nascent Pill, Zhu Kun's breakthrough would be that much faster.
Having finished his final arrangements, Xiao Yan looked with a trace of regret toward Xun'er and the other women. "I had hoped to hold the wedding before I left… but now it seems there's no time. Still, I promise you this—once I carve out a space for us in the Great Thousand World, I'll give you a wedding more magnificent than anything this world has ever seen."
