"Brother … do you think Mom went too far?"
Camilla's voice cut through the silence that had been hanging between us. My little sister didn't speak loud, but it was enough to snap me back into the restaurant lobby that suddenly felt way too big, way too bright, especially after Theo walked out without even looking back. I couldn't even tell what was on his face when he left. Was it anger? Disappointment? Or some messy mix I didn't want to untangle. Or maybe that was just me.
"She's always like that," I muttered. Short. Tired. The kind of answer that sounds like I don't care, but the truth is I do. Same as Camilla. We're both pissed at what Mom just pulled.
"Then why didn't you go after him?"
I shrugged. "Would that even help?"
