Kagaya Ubuyashiki was sleeping peacefully when a Kasugai crow suddenly entered his room.
"Caw! Caw! Upper Moon Two, Doma, is dead! An unknown person helped the Flower Pillar defeat the demon! Caw!"
Kagaya froze.
An Upper Moon… defeated?
For a moment, he couldn't breathe. Then his heart began pounding violently in his chest.
He sat up too quickly, overwhelmed with joy, but his weakened body trembled and he nearly fell. A gentle hand supported him before he collapsed.
It was his wife, Amane Ubuyashiki.
"You should be careful," she said softly.
Kagaya smiled — a rare, radiant smile filled with emotion.
"We have taken the first step toward the eradication of demons. After more than a century… an Upper Moon has fallen. Amane, we finally have a chance to lift the curse on our family."
Amane's expression softened.
"That is wonderful news."
"Yes," Kagaya continued, barely able to contain his happiness. "Send orders immediately. Treat this unknown warrior with the utmost care. We must do everything to bring him into our Corps."
"Of course, my lord," Amane replied gently. "But please, you must take care of yourself as well."
Before she could finish, Kagaya added,
"Call the Hashira. We will announce this good news personally."
Hope quietly filled the mansion.
[Random Town]
A Kakushi was steering the carriage.
Jinwoo sat in the back with Kanae and Shinobu. The wheels rolled steadily along the road.
"I'm a little tired," Jinwoo said. "I need some sleep."
Kanae smiled warmly. "Of course. Though I can't promise the carriage will be comfortable."
Jinwoo gave a small grin. "I've slept in much stranger places."
'I don't actually want to sleep though.'
"Alright," Kanae replied softly.
Shinobu sat silently to the side, listening without speaking. Jinwoo ignored her presence and closed his eyes.
Because the moment he did—
A panel appeared.
[CLOSE YOUR EYES SO WE CAN TALK]
"So the entity again…"
With a sigh, he let himself fall into the darkness.
Pitch black.
The familiar space.
Threads wrapped around him like a spider's web. In the corner, the spider sat quietly.
Then the entity appeared.
This time, his entire body wasn't pure darkness. Jinwoo could make out faint details.
A monocle.
"So you can already see parts of me, huh?" the entity chuckled. "Looks like you're getting stronger. The stronger you become, the more you'll be able to see."
Jinwoo looked at him coldly. "Who even wants to look at you? What do you want? Why did you call me here?"
"Tch, tch, Jinwoo-chan," the entity said playfully. "That's no way to speak to your boss. I could cut your salary, you know. Though I won't — you're my favorite employee."
"So you have other employees?" Jinwoo asked sharply.
The entity giggled. "Teehee. No. You're my only one."
Jinwoo narrowed his eyes. "How does saving Kanae benefit you?"
"Oho," the entity smiled. "You don't need to know that yet. I'll tell you in the future. For now… are you happy? I kept my promise."
"What promise?"
"That you would love the work. Or did you not enjoy the quest?"
"I did, but—"
"But what?" the entity interrupted with a smirk. "That you wanted to be sent into the main storyline and....."
Jinwoo immediately snapped, "I didn't even think that. You're slandering me."
"Yeah, yeah, you didn't," the entity laughed. "But in your past life, you did. And you imagined far worse. Should I list them all? Like—"
"Shut up! That was the past. I'm a changed man."
'I can't even refute him… in my past life, I really was too much of a degenerate.'
The entity chuckled.
"I know. I was just teasing you."
His tone shifted slightly.
"Now, let's stop wasting time. You have two choices. And before you start shouting about your mother — yes, there are methods to save her. We won't discuss that right now."
Jinwoo's expression turned serious.
"What choices?"
"You can return to your world within three days… or you can claim your quest reward now and continue the chain quest."
He didn't give Jinwoo time to interrupt.
"I'm sure you know what a chain quest is. You can come back later, but the rewards will decrease. So — your choice."
Jinwoo was about to speak when the entity cut him off again.
"Time won't pass much in your world. Only a few hours at most. This quest won't take long. I just know."
'If Jinwoo can grind here and grow stronger, protecting everyone from the Monarchs will be easier.'
The entity's voice suddenly carried disdain.
"Tch, tch, Jinwoo-chan. You're thinking too small. The Monarchs are nothing. The game I've involved you in is far beyond them… far beyond the so-called Supreme Beings."
He snapped his fingers.
Everything shattered into mirror fragments again.
But this time, Jinwoo felt no pain.
He kept his eyes closed.

Opening his eyes, he saw Kanae smiling at him.
'So we've arrived… looks like I'll be staying here longer than expected.'
Then a new system panel appeared.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki stood calmly despite his frail body. His long black hair flowed neatly behind him, and the curse marks that spread across his pale face gave him a haunting yet dignified appearance. Though blind and physically weak, an overwhelming serenity surrounded him — a presence that commanded respect without force.
Beside him stood Amane Ubuyashiki, her long white hair flowing smoothly down her back. Her posture was straight and graceful, her expression gentle yet unwavering. There was quiet strength in her eyes, the kind that supported a leader without ever overshadowing him.
The atmosphere around them felt solemn… yet welcoming.
