After just doing nothing for a while and just chilling, Liebe said, "Licht, I'm gonna go on a patrol around the area."
Licht said, "Ok, sure."
Alysa said, "Mind if I join in?"
Liebe said, "Sure. And Licht, collect a bit more blood samples and get them to the lab. Make sure we have more information by today."
Licht said, "You sure are demanding."
Liebe said, "Unfortunately, we don't have time, since we are going back to the academy to see Professor Obsidian."
Licht said, "Ok. And are we also getting Gaia admitted to class?"
Liebe said, "No, she is far too important to be allowed to be seen so publicly."
Licht said, "What if we get her a disguise?"
Liebe said, "And how exactly are we supposed to hide her head, horns, and pale skin with wings?"
Licht said, "I will work on that as a personal project."
Liebe said, "I won't judge if you fail, but good luck."
Licht said, "Sure."
Alysa and Liebe went out. As they were walking around, Licht said, "Well, guys, time to get to work."
Fate said, "Of course."
Licht said, "Gaia, can I take like three drops of blood?"
Gaia said, "How?"
Licht said, "One second, give me your finger." As he used his light to cut her finger a bit, he collected a few drops of blood.
Licht said, "Fate, heal her."
Fate said, "Ok."
Licht said, "And Isurugi, you are with me. We have work to do at the lab."
Isurugi said, "Ok, sir."
Licht said, "And finally, M, just watch over them."
M said, "And what makes you think you can order me around?"
Licht said, "Simply because you aren't doing anything."
M said, "Depends on what I feel like."
As Licht and Isurugi left, Isurugi said, "Will this be enough?"
Licht said, "Well, depends on where we invest. Since the genetic line didn't help much, let's check the attribute."
Isurugi said, "Any idea what her true magic attribute can be?"
Licht said, "None, but it is strong, that's for sure. Yet it shares many similarities with mine."
Isurugi said, "And umm, what do we write in the age part?"
Licht said, "Nothing to do there. Since she looks 15, anywhere from 15 to 16. We can't try malinium."
Isurugi said, "Any idea what might be the nature of her magic?"
Licht said, "I don't know, but I'm guessing somehow she was able to use some spell to help Liebe a bit when the dungeon was falling. And on top of that, she can recover mana, stamina, and wounds. I have never seen such a phenomenon, and I have seen many healers—in fact, every healer in the nation. And if we can understand how good her support really is, maybe, just maybe, our little team here can be strong enough to be able to stand up to the personal forces of one of the 25 Princes of Hell."
Isurugi said, "You think that her magic might actually be that strong?"
Licht said, "That depends. And that's why I will be the one testing the blood. It's best if no one knows about it."
Isurugi said, "Understood, sir."
Meanwhile, Liebe and Alysa on their walk. Alysa said, "The weather sure is nice today."
Liebe said, "Yeah, I feel like it's perfect for just laying on the ground and doing nothing."
Alysa said, "Honestly, slacking off once in a while doesn't sound so bad every now and then." As Alysa sat on the ground and said, "Care to join me?"
Liebe said, "Fine, you win," as he joined her.
Alysa said, "So, how do you feel?"
Liebe said, "I don't know."
Alysa said, "Want to see something cool?"
Liebe said, "Sure."
Alysa rolled up her sleeve and said, "Look, the tattoo isn't here."
Liebe said, "So you lost it?"
Alysa said, "Nope, look. I feel like cooking." As the tattoo appeared on her forearm again. "Now, what is 2 + 2 again?" As the tattoo appeared on her right cheek. "Now, I think it's time for cardio." As the tattoo appeared on her right foreleg. "Now, I feel horny."
Liebe said, "I get it, I get it."
Alysa said, "You sure you don't want to know?"
Liebe said, "I get it."
Alysa said, "Like my little trick?"
Liebe said, "Yeah. So, humanity's greatest weapon is a party trick. Makes sense."
Alysa said, "You like it?"
Liebe said, "Yeah, it's a bit funny."
Alysa said, "Now, you tell me how you really feel."
Liebe said, "About what?"
Alysa said, "About this morning."
Liebe said, "I don't know, it's weird to talk about. Maybe it's just that the captain—"
Alysa said, "Shu shu shu. Now, let's start over again."
Liebe said, "Ok. So, this morning when the captain—"
Alysa said, "Shu shu shu. Start over again."
Liebe said, "When the captain—"
Alysa said, "Stop. Start over."
Liebe said, "Now you are confusing me."
Alysa said, "Ok then. Here, keep saying whatever you were saying, just remove the 'captain' thing."
Liebe said, "Ok. When Gelda's senior and this our senior—"
Alysa said, "From the top again, and lose the formalities. No one is judging."
Liebe said, "When Lilith Faust called us in—"
Alysa said, "Again."
Liebe said, "If you want to know just say, and why are you shushing me? You are damaging whatever little brain cells I have left."
Alysa said, "Fine, here is the answer. Say 'mom' or 'mommy,' but nothing else."
Liebe said, "Fine. When Mother—"
Alysa said, "Please, show mercy and continue in the right way."
Liebe said, "Fine, fine. When Mom called us in—"
Alysa said, "Now that's the spirit. Say it all."
Liebe said, "Well, today was weird. I genuinely don't know what I did to get her this mad, and had to hear the BS on paperwork about Gaia."
Alysa said, "Want to know my opinion about it?"
Liebe said, "Sure, not like we have anything to do right now."
Alysa said, "It wasn't about the paperwork, now was it? And I know slash saw what happened between you two, etc., etc., etc., and everything. But have you tried asking?"
Liebe said, "You seriously asking me that?"
Alysa said, "Yes."
Liebe said, "Yeah, I did. For years."
Alysa said, "No, you didn't. You waited with us, but that didn't work."
Liebe said, "Guess so."
Alysa said, "You see the problem? Maybe playing defensive for so long hasn't worked, so let's try offense."
Liebe said, "You lost me again."
Alysa said, "How about you do something for Aunt Lilith? Something nice for no reason at all, like cook, or get some cake before going back, or, you know, get a nice gift."
Liebe said, "Ok then, let's get a gift. And after heading back, I will cook."
Alysa said, "Now that's the spirit."
Liebe said, "You really have a way of convincing me on what to do."
Alysa said, "I know. It just takes a few tries. Also, add a note, like a small thank-you note."
Liebe said, "Fine."
After they got the gift—a pocket watch—and returned to HQ, Liebe said, "I'm making dinner, Gelda."
Gelda said, "Of course. If you require any assistance, just ask."
Liebe said, "I will be fine."
After cooking, Gelda said, "There is something for you at your office."
Liebe said, "Thank you. And Gelda, take this, give it to the captain," and gave the small bag.
Gelda said, "What is it?"
Liebe said, "Something we picked up on the road since we just messed around all day."
Gelda said, "I will give it to Lilith."
Liebe said, "Thank you. And I will check my office. The food is ready; let's eat in 5 minutes. Tell the captain."
Gelda said, "Of course."
Then Licht came and said, "Damn, does that smell good."
Liebe said, "Well, I cooked."
Licht said, "Great. And I got the blood work and a bit more info on her magic."
Liebe said, "Great, let's discuss this after dinner."
Licht said, "Sure."
