Chapter 358 - A Home to Run Back To

Liebe said, "By the way, you are in charge today."

Licht said, "And why exactly?"

Liebe said, "Well, Alysa and I are going on a little date today since we don't get much time, you know."

Licht said, "Fine. Have fun, but not too much. When you have too much fun, I'm the one worried."

Liebe said, "Fine."

As Liebe and Alysa left while walking on the streets:

Liebe said, "This morning feels so nice, even though it's just 8 am."

Alysa said, "Nice and quiet. Just how we like it."

Liebe said, "Yeah. So what do you want to do today?"

Alysa said, "Maybe try ice cream for breakfast."

Liebe said, "Breakfast ice cream? Coming right up. Let's go find a nice ice cream parlor."

While walking, Alysa said, "Hey, Liebe."

Liebe said, "Yeah?"

Alysa said, "Are you truly happy with me?"

Liebe said, "Yeah, I am. Being with you makes my day better. I wish I could give you more time, but I'm always busy."

Alysa said, "It's OK. You do plenty. You make me the happiest."

Liebe said, "Thanks. Same for you. Without you, my life would be a mess."

Alysa said, "Without you, I would be a lifeless husk. I wouldn't have any friends without you."

Liebe said, "You give me too much credit."

Alysa said, "No, Liebe. You give yourself too little. I'm a godkin. My dad knows many people, and I met their kids too, yet none remembered my name. Maybe some remembered for a marriage of power, but no one tried to talk to me just for the sake of it. And look at Licht. Licht's dad was our former VC. He knows so many knights and so many work people. Yet how many knew Licht before he became a First Class Knight of Fire? None remembered him. No one tried to talk to him. So why are you his best friend? It's simple. Liebe, Licht and I are the same in that regard. No matter how high our status is, no one cares about us. No one would even dare to talk, except you. Without you, we would be alone."

Liebe said, "Maybe you are right. But if you guys weren't there when I lost it all, then I wouldn't be me. Maybe I would be a knight, but I wouldn't be me. Maybe I would be the forgotten son I have always been and die somewhere on a mission. But with you guys, I have a home to run back to."

As Alysa grabbed his arm tighter, she teared up, saying, "Hearing you talk about death, my heart can't bear it. Without you, my life has no meaning."

Liebe said, "Hey, don't say that. If it meant seeing you again, I would dive right into Purgatory if need be."

Alysa said, "If I really mean that much to you, can you do something for me?"

Liebe said, "OK."

Alysa said, "Please don't talk about dying ever again. When you talk about a bright future without you in it, it would be the worst regret we can live with."

Liebe said, "Fine. It's a promise. Now then, those breakfast ice cream sandwiches won't eat themselves."

Alysa said, "Let's go."

As Liebe carried her in his arms and ran through the town, while running:

Liebe said, "I'm not holding too tight, am I?"

Alysa said, "No. It's just right. It's nice." As she hugged Liebe.

From aside, Licht and others were watching.

Elizabeth said, "I'm hungry."

Isurugi said, "This romance is far more important."

Gaia said, "I don't get it."

Lichee said, "Same here. But at least they seem happy."

Licht said, "Huh. How about we also grab some breakfast? My treat."

Mia said, "Thank you, sir."

Isurugi said, "We are very sorry for dragging you into our personal affairs."

Mia said, "It's alright."

Isurugi said, "Oh God, I have to get ready tonight. We have that banquet at the royal castle as the guests of honor."

Licht said, "Oh yeah, that's tonight. Don't worry, Mia. I will help you pick a dress or something later. For now, let's grab something to eat. And by the way, good job on the soda."

Mia said, "Ummm, I just ordered from room service."

As Liebe and Alysa were rushing through town:

Liebe said, "Want to go for a quick flight?"

Alysa said, "Let's fly."

As Liebe flew carrying her:

Liebe said, "This capital looks nice early in the morning."

Alysa said, "Yeah."

Liebe said, "Next, let's visit our capital in the morning."

Alysa said, "Sounds like a plan to me."

Liebe said, "I know I sound silly and cringe, but taking walks with you, having dinner together, reading erotic novels, nerding out over games and books—I feel happy. The happiest I have been in a while."

Alysa said, "Me too. Just seeing you smile and being you. When you hold me, I feel like I can—no, I want to stay like this forever."

Liebe said, "Yeah, I wish that too. If the world could see it like that. But being together is hard when the world judges you."

Alysa said, "I know. You are a half-breed and I'm a godkin. I wish we could relinquish our status and be together, married in a small home, drinking coffee from the same mug."

Liebe said, "Let's do that then. Since my goal is to be the world's strongest, how about we get married afterwards and settle down in a house?"

Alysa said, "I like it and I hate it."

Liebe said, "What do you like and what do you hate?"

Alysa said, "I like the getting married part. I hate the settling down part. I want our kids to grow up in the Faust estate like we did—playing, having fun. We will even have a room for Licht and Mia or Iris or someone."

Liebe said, "You know we can't do that. I'm a Faust in name only. I relinquished my claim to the throne of Faust. I'm not one of them. And plus, my mother plans to leave everything to Markus, so you know, I can't. So what? A house is a place. Home is people. As long as you guys are there, I'm sure the Vale estate will be just as good. I mean, my Vale estate is bigger."

As Alysa pouted, she said, "You don't get it."

Liebe laughed and said, "Get what?"

Alysa said, "You don't get it. You don't get it. You don't get it. I'm mad."

Liebe said, "I suppose breakfast ice cream might have been kept waiting too long. Will that calm your nerves, my young, gorgeous lady?"

As her ponytail began to move like a dog's tail when it's happy, Liebe said, "Guess I have my answer then. Let's go."

As they flew down to an ice cream parlor for breakfast.
