As Liebe was in the toilet, thinking, Why? Why can't she just forget me already? As he contacts Malvoth in his mind:
Liebe said, "Malvoth, god damn answer me already."
Malvoth said, "What is it?"
Liebe said, "Why? Why does she still remember me?"
Malvoth said, "The same reason why you remember her. If I were to remember her, will you forget her so easily?"
Liebe said, "No. I can't. It's my sin."
Malvoth said, "Call it sin or whatever, but you can't forget either. Human memories and souls aren't so fragile, remember that. And that's why she remembers. The less she sees 'Liebe Faust,' the sooner these dreams will vanish. Be patient. The spell is absolute. Unless you actively tell her everything that occurred in the past and appear as Liebe Faust, she can't remember. With Baledia gone, it will just be that much harder for her to remember. So be patient."
Liebe said, "Fine then."
As he comes out and washes his face, he returns to class.
Alysa signed: What happened, Helios? You look like you have seen a ghost.
Helios signed: Nothing. Just remembered someone.
Alysa signed: Who?
Helios signed: My dad. His words are always with me, I suppose.
Alysa signed: Why?
Helios signed: He died a long while ago, and yet his words haunt me. It really is true what they say—human souls really aren't as fragile as one might think. Even if they were to break, the cracks can be filled.
Alysa signed: He seemed wise.
Helios signed: Yeah, he was my best friend always. I never knew how to appreciate him till he was gone. The sad truth about life is that love can only be valued in life only when it's fleeing.
Alysa said, "Oh."
Helios signed: Listen, I may not seem like a friend, but listen to me, friend. Stay far from Eldoria. Stay away from Liebe Faust. He may seem like a hero, but his hands are bloody. You are pure. It's for the best. Don't waste away your life for a mere dream.
Alysa signed: I understand.
Helios said, "Thank you. And don't worry, no matter what, I will always watch over you."
Alysa signed: Thank you.
Helios signed: That is a promise.
Alysa said, "Helios, why is it that you are always smiling, making jokes, but whenever I ask a deep question, all I see is pain in your eyes? Why is it the harsh truth stops the smiles from reaching your face? Why do you hesitate?"
Helios said, "It's nothing. Just an old habit. And old habit tends to die hard, am I right? The chances of me improving that is like the chances of you actually having boobs from how flat you are. I swear, you might actually be flatter than the wall over there."
Alysa signed: That isn't funny. As she playfully began to punch Helios.
Meanwhile, in the academy, as Licht and Horn were talking:
Licht said, "So, Horn, basically you are a fae? Wink wink."
Horn said, "What is the wink wink for?"
Licht said, "You know, since fae only exist in fairy tales and stuff—they don't really exist in real life. And you wear a human disguise instead of your normal fae looks, you know. And you claim you are bigger than the nation. So, Níðhöggr, how is life as a human?"
Horn said, "Are you deaf or dumb? I'm not a giant snake, dumbass. And faes do exist."
Licht said, "Now you are making it up. They don't. Beings who switch their children with human children—they are a race of witches who only existed in fairy tales. Plus, if you really were a fae, why be a normal human disguise?"
As Horn looked at him with hatred, it made Licht back off.
Horn said, "You want to know why I can't show my true form? It's for your sake. The moment I do, you are marked for death. And we faes never replaced human children—insignificant humans. I'm a fae, and I'm proud of it. My mother would never replace me, god damn it. You humans are all filth."
Licht said, "What? Faes really did exist in history? But then why—why didn't I ever hear about them?"
Horn said, "Yes. We existed. A thousand years ago, we did live. But my entire race was killed off, taken as slaves. A thousand years ago, after the great battle, we were all guilty, they said. Because all we did was side with the dual gods of love and dark. None of us were combatants, yet all were killed without a second thought. All because we tried to protect the legacy of Faust. And I, as a mere 5-year-old, was taken to Celestial Island high above the sky to be judged by God, to be turned into slaves of God. We were killed, shot without second thoughts. My parents died simply because my mother spoke and it bothered someone's conversation. And even after all that, I managed to escape with inches of my life. Yet by that time, the world changed. Every race in the world hated me. Yet when I was about to die, a human girl protected me, took me to a broken-down church in an unnamed frozen island. That place was home. Yet she and everyone in that nation were killed through the use of bioweapon gas just because she sheltered me. That 5-year-old girl was the only human I can call human and my one and only friend. She died feeding me her flesh so that I could look human enough to survive. And this form you see of me—this woman with an emotionless face—is what she would have looked like if she had survived long enough to see 19. Yet she died at the ripe age of mere 8 years old. My entire race of scholars were killed because we only sided with the dual gods of love and darkness—the ones who loved each race equally, the ones who wanted to change. The goddess of love was reduced to dust. The god of darkness was burned to ashes by the holy flames of Vesta. And finally, after hundreds of years of living, finally I met another human—Liebe Faust—a child who reminded me of the only humans who showed me kindness. Don't god damn ever insult my race again. And sorry to break your hopes, Licht Vaude, that Níðhöggr isn't joining your team. I'm not Níðhöggr. I simply want the power of Níðhöggr to bring Celestial Island to its knees. I want to burn down the realm of gods to the ground. I will be the one who turns it to ashes. A war is coming, and Faust needs the power of Níðhöggr. And this time, Celestial Island shall fall. The world shall see it. The will of Freyja will be reality. That is it. Don't god damn ever insult my parents or race ever again. And that stuff about fae replacing human children—it's all lies. Lies made for your kind to hate my race even more. Bear that in mind before you talk. Liebe may be racist, but at least he has a heart."
Licht said, "I apologize."
