Vlad gripped his new dagger. He threw it as far as he could, and a red, liquid-like substance, seemingly attached to the dagger, linked to Vlad's finger. With a flick of his wrist, the dagger swiftly sliced through the grass. He flicked it back, and the liquid pulled the dagger effortlessly back to him.
Then he threw the dagger into a shadow, the liquid still connected. He pulled it back, and the dagger emerged from the shadow with a leaf stuck to its blade. "Seems like it works perfectly as expected," Vlad muttered to himself. Adam was amazed by Vlad's ingenuity with his new weapon.
"Lyra, you need a perfect weapon for yourself," Adam informed her. "Just control my fingers and choose which weapon." Lyra took control of Adam's hands, looking through the shop from his perspective.
She selected a Legendary weapon: Spear of Divine Light. Its description stated that the spear duplicates infinitely according to the user's mana. Each spear can shoot light magic. The spear can be used to create a light shield with its placement, connecting each light to form a barrier, making it good for both offense and defense. The user holding the spear can float indefinitely, similar to the spear's ability to float. Controlled by the user's mind, the spears will move by the user's will. Lyra purchased it immediately, costing 8 million system coins. Adam gulped, looking at the cost, yet he didn't question Lyra's decision. As the spear appeared, Lyra instantly held it with ease.
"Adam, can you upgrade it to my mana signature?" Lyra boldly asked.
"I would, however, I may need my mana suit to do it," Adam replied, pointing to Azrael, who was currently using the mana suit.
"Right, later when you're free and got your suit back," Lyra stated, but her eyes brimmed with anticipation for her very own legendary weapon. Adam checked his system coins, now left with 5 million.
"Johan, any weapon you want?" Adam asked.
"I don't need a weapon. Does it have something to make me invisible?" Johan inquired. Adam looked through and found a Cloak of Invisibility: an S-grade armor with the ability to conceal presences and turn invisible. Costing 2 million system coins, Adam purchased it and gave it to Johan.
"Ah, this is perfect for me not to be disturbed anymore. I can enjoy watching shows without disturbance," Johan said, clearly happy about the cloak.
Adam smiled, thinking of Johan's antics; he truly seemed more concerned about his drama series than the impending fight. Johan instantly put it on, vanishing from sight. Adam, however, used his mana vision and watched Johan lay down, resting on the ground. Johan realized Adam was still looking at him. He walked by Vlad, who didn't even glance at him. Johan then walked in front of Adam, his face getting closer.
"You can see me, can't you?" Johan whispered.
"Yeah, I have the ability to see mana," Adam replied.
"Alright, I'm going to rest awhile, just wake me up later," Johan said as he walked back away from the camp and rested on the fields.
Further Preparations and Revelations
Adam looked at the remaining 3 million system coins. He thought about his new ability, which needed mana to activate, and also elemental weapons. Since his magic was sealed, using the element from the weapon and merging it with the universal tool, he would be able to do something similar to his magic spell. He bought an A-grade staff, costing 300,000 system coins. The staff was able to increase mana output by 2 times and could store basic elements and merge them. Adam also bought 100 mana potions, costing 1,000 system coins each. These were special mana potions that regenerated 10 mana per second for 60 seconds. He then bought six B-grade elemental weapons—light, dark, fire, water, earth, wind—each costing 100,000 system coins. Each sword had a strong casting power of its respective element. Adam was left with 2 million system coins.
Adam looked through the menu and saw runes. "Lyra, what are runes? How exactly do they work?" Adam asked.
"Runes are skills," Lyra stated. "It is an artifact that is able to merge with the system to slot in new skills. This skill does need mana to activate."
"Since my system mana is limited, can I merge with the runes instead?" Adam asked.
"Unfortunately, runes are not artifacts but a system-designed skill. It's enclosed to only be synced with the system as a skill. You can look at artifacts in the menu," Lyra stated.
Adam selected 'artifacts', seeing a variety of them with different uses outside of combat, ranging from item boxes to weapons. "Why are these considered artifacts? There are weapons there as well. How is it different from the weapon list?" Adam asked.
"First, look at the cost," Lyra replied. "Second, artifacts aren't easily replicated since they aren't easily made by the world. They are created by the 'above' as one-of-a-kind tools, categorized by their usefulness and even abilities to be integrated for reincarnated persons as a skill. These artifacts can be equipped, creating a new slot in the system which integrates as special items/skills." Lyra explained that each artifact cost 10 million system coins. Adam was stunned at the cost, realizing any reincarnator would need to reach Level 100 to be able to buy one.
As Lyra read Adam's mind, she added, "Yes, which is why sometimes reincarnators are given an item box free with one special skill."
She continued, "Humans from many worlds tried to recreate the item box but always failed to perfect it. Their replicas of item boxes could only contain 10 to 50 items using a small dimension from creatures' skills and abilities. The original item box cannot be replicated. People would be able to see 'otherworlders' as every single one of them carries the original item box."
