Eira's POV
I then held that small box in front of him, a smile lingering on my lips. "How ready are you to even prepare a gift for yourself? You could have just told me about your plan and I would have prepared one myself."
He shook his head. "Then it wouldn't be a surprise anymore, which matters more than any gift from you."
That made sense. I hummed and opened the box. "Then let me put it on you."
He released me, and I heard him say, "It isn't entirely new. Some beads are still the same ones, except they are woven into a new thread."
As he said that, I realized those old beads were rough and had tiny scratches. "You didn't throw it away?"
"I couldn't," he said. "But it broke during the war six years back, and I had to spend time collecting whatever I could. That's how I lost some beads. So, I used the leftover part as a keychain for one of my keys."
I couldn't help but look at him, his expression sincere, telling me how much he loved me despite hating me.
