"Is it Superman? Has he been watching the battlefield situation?"

Everyone, from the military officials to the government representatives watching the feed, was electrified by Superman's appearance. The Stark satellite and drones hovering above the battlefield all captured his arrival.

While they were excited, no one was surprised. For years, the U.S. government had considered Superman their most powerful potential adversary, and much of their research was focused on how to counter him.

Tony's view wasn't so extreme; it was more about his own pride and unwillingness to admit defeat. Superman's arrival meant one thing: the situation was out of their control, and he had to intervene to save lives.

In the next instant, Superman vanished from his position. The thousands of mercenaries, who had been on the verge of defeat, suddenly found themselves gathered on a single sand dune, looking confused. In the distance, the enemy soldiers with their strange, new weapons were closing in. And right in front of them, with his back turned, stood Superman.

"Protect yourselves and try to avoid enemy attacks," he said. "If you can't, I will come to rescue you."

With that, Clark charged toward the Ten Rings army.

The warriors in their enchanted armor, wielding energy swords, were fearless. Despite knowing Superman's power, they didn't show any signs of retreat. One of them swung his sword, sending a red energy wave toward Clark's chest.

But instead of an explosion, there was nothing. The sharp energy wave shattered on impact, leaving not a scratch on his body.

As Superman, Clark was only getting stronger. Even compared to his past self when he fought the Phoenix, he was more powerful now. For him, a longsword that could unleash an energy wave was no more of a threat than a police taser.

"Give up your resistance and you will be less injured," Clark said, moving through the battlefield. Every time he passed an enemy, their armor would shatter, and the warrior would collapse, clutching their stomach. Clark knew this was magic.

The magical barriers and sword energies were not things he could block with his normal biological force field. But even without it, his indestructible body and the Kryptonian-tech suit were enough to withstand this level of magical energy.

With this in mind, he moved a little more gently, making sure to only incapacitate the enemy, not permanently disable them.

As Clark swept through the battlefield and crested another hill, a blinding red light made him instinctively raise his hand to shield his eyes. He had never felt light so dazzling before. Then, a wave of weakness washed over him, and he realized what the light was.

"A red sun lamp…"

"It's actually a red sun lamp!"

Everyone back at the villa was equally shocked. The technology for a red sun lamp was not as simple as making a regular lamp emit red light. Otherwise, any person with a red flashlight could take on Superman.

To work on him, the lamp had to replicate the radiation of a red sun. Tony knew this, and he had even built a small one after the incident with the Phoenix. But he also knew that even the world's superpowers hadn't perfected the technology. So how had a terrorist organization done it?

The battle didn't stop. Under the red light, Clark felt his strength drain, and he slowly fell from the air. A sword energy strike hit him, and he was knocked back, falling to the ground. When he got up, he saw a small, visible wound on his palm. It was healing quickly, but he was injured.

Since learning he was Kryptonian, Clark had been injured in many battles—against himself, against Sabretooth after losing his powers, against Magneto, and against the Phoenix. But this was the first time he had been wounded by a mass-produced weapon.

He regained his balance as several Ten Rings warriors in their magical armor rushed him, slashing, chopping, and stabbing. Feeling a real threat from their attacks, Clark's combat skills, honed in the Amazon, kicked in. He punched the nearest enemy on the arm.

The magical armor held, but the force of the blow made the warrior's arm go numb, and he dropped his sword. Clark snatched the weapon and swung it with all his might. The resulting energy wave repelled all the enemies in front of him, but more kept coming.

"I can't fight like this, not under this red light," he thought.

The red sun lamp wasn't a real red sun, so Clark still retained some of his powers. Forcing the enemies back again in close combat, he gathered the last of his strength into his eyes and unleashed a thermal beam, far weaker than usual. The red sun lamps were destroyed, and the light faded.

The moment the red light was gone, Clark's strength returned. He moved at full speed, and in less than ten seconds, he had taken down all the remaining enemies on the battlefield.

"Whew..."

Taking a deep breath, he let go of the sword and fell to his knees. "I actually… feel tired…"

Other than the initial sword strike he hadn't dodged, Clark was unharmed, thanks to his Amazonian combat training. But even so, he was exhausted, mentally drained.

He had always known that someone would develop a red sun lamp or Kryptonite to use against him, but he never expected it to happen so soon.
