Eleanor's POV
I was too stunned to speak. My mind was a frantic, screaming static. I managed to force the words out, my voice sounding distant. "That's… good news."
Oh no. Oh no, no, no.
"It's definitely good news," Keith agreed, that determined light still in his eyes.
"Do you… do you know who gave you the tip?" I asked, trying to keep my voice even. "Are you sure it's correct?"
"We're sure," Keith said, his confidence absolute. "It makes sense now, about everything. Why the Shadowmere enchanted Serpent's Kiss in the first place. They did it to locate their vessel. And now we know the vessel they're looking for is a female participant. It won't take long to find her tomorrow."
Do you still think telling them is a good idea? Beatrice's voice was a cold, sharp blade in my mind.
I couldn't answer her. I felt like I was going to be sick. "What… what are you going to do to the vessel when you find her?"
