Chapter 341: The Five Strongest Armor Sets After the Game Update
Kagaya Ubuyashiki was stunned.
He had been worried that the reward was too low and that few players would take on the mercenary job. He hadn't expected the listing to be snatched up almost instantly.
And even more surprising—among the applicants was a player with a combat power of [1300].
Suddenly, it all made sense.
A Family Defense Battle like this one might spell disaster for the Demon Slayer family—
even risk the destruction of their family monument.
But for other players, especially high-level ones, this was a feast.
Compared to slowly hunting monsters in dangerous areas like [Arad],
a defense battle offered more enemies and far better loot.
"Thinking about it now… the Demon Slayer Corps didn't even need to offer a reward. This was all because I didn't understand the Reincarnation Game well enough…"
Kagaya let out a helpless sigh, full of regret.
[Family Defense Battle beginning soon. All players, prepare for combat!]
With just ten minutes left before the battle began,
players began to materialize in the courtyard of the Demon Slayer headquarters in beams of light.
This included everyone Kagaya had invited into the family—Tanjiro, the Nine Hashira, previous-generation trainers, and the most promising members of the corps.
On the other side stood the players who had accepted the mercenary task.
The most eye-catching among them was a towering figure wielding a massive greatblade.
His curved white mustache left no doubt as to his identity:
The Emperor of the Pirate World—Whitebeard.
"Thank you all for coming to the Demon Slayer World to help us defend the Demon Slayer Family from corrupted creatures."
Kagaya took a deep breath, calmed his nerves, and greeted the otherworldly players with a warm smile.
It was the bearing of a true leader.
But as his gaze landed on Whitebeard, he paused involuntarily.
[Whitebeard] – Combat Power: 1480
Gulp…
Kagaya couldn't help swallowing hard.
This number was even higher than that of Garp, who he had seen earlier.
In the Reincarnation Game, combat power wasn't additive in a linear way. For example, Kagaya's [400] didn't mean he could defeat someone with [800] by doubling his efforts.
Players with four-digit combat power were extremely rare across the entire game.
"Garp?"
Whitebeard gave Kagaya a brief nod, then turned to the figure standing among a group of navy officers.
His brow furrowed.
Garp had noticed Whitebeard too. He grinned broadly and laughed, "You old bastard, still not dead?"
He was referring to the recent event where the Whitebeard Pirates were ambushed by the Celestial Dragons' forces.
Hundreds of enhanced Pacifistas, even Imu himself, had joined the attack—nearly pushing Whitebeard to the brink.
Whitebeard also burst into laughter, "If you're still alive, how could I die first?"
The Navy wasn't in much better shape.
Caught between the notorious pirates and the growing Adventurers' Guild,
they were one of the most asset-rich factions in the Pirate World—frequently targeted by pirates and ambitious players.
Their losses weren't small.
"So there's a grudge between them?"
Kagaya covered his face in mild exasperation.
Whitebeard clearly looked like a pirate, while the caped old man claimed to be navy—no wonder they were like fire and water.
He just hoped it wouldn't interfere with the family defense battle.
"Old relic of the past! Take this greeting punch!"
Garp leapt high into the air and launched an iron fist toward Whitebeard.
This was the Pirate World's way of saying hello—direct, violent.
If you couldn't handle a proper "greeting," you weren't qualified to speak further.
"Garp, you're not my match!"
Whitebeard's aura exploded.
The surrounding space groaned and cracked, and his cape billowed without wind as he swung his blade upward.
Boom!
Under the stunned eyes of Demon Slayer members and the visiting players,
fist and blade collided.
A hurricane roared out. The entire mountain shook.
Wisteria petals scattered like rain.
If not for the game's protective rule shielding the family territory,
most of the nearby players would've been blown away by the shockwave.
Flame Pillar Rengoku Kyojuro widened his eyes and exclaimed,
"Amazing! So this is… a battle between players?"
No wonder…
He now understood how Master Gyomei had, in just two weeks as a player, become strong enough to crush the combined might of other Hashira.
They had thought Gyomei was already exceptional,
but after seeing Whitebeard and Garp clash, they realized just how laughable their idea of "strong" had been.
"Even without a Nichirin blade, they could probably crush Muzan to death…"
Kagaya thought enviously.
Boom!
The clash ended with Garp being sent flying backward.
He rolled dozens of meters but got up unscathed, eyes gleaming.
"You're wearing four pieces of the [Dark Elf] armor set?!"
Between players, powerful gear made a huge difference.
There were currently five top-tier armor sets in the game, introduced in the latest update:
[Flame Forest] – obtainable near Linus's forge in Gran Forest[Frost Mountain] – the Bantu clan's ancestral treasure at the base of Eternal Snow Mountain[Magic Ocean] – found near the Sky Sea[All Qi] – from the Xuzu Empire[Dark Elf] – exchanged from the Dark Elf clan in Dark City
These were the five strongest armor sets in the Reincarnation Game, each corresponding to one of the five safe zones in [Arad].
Unlocking them was no small feat—
players needed not only vast quantities of Corruption Crystals but also high contribution ratings with the crafting town, and numerous completed missions.
A full set granted [1500] combat power.
Orochimaru's continued dominance on the leaderboards
was largely thanks to acquiring a complete [Magic Ocean] set.
Whitebeard laughed and teased, "I just happened to find Alchemy Master Morgan's notes in the Shallow Dwellings while helping the Dark Elves. Got one armor piece out of it. Jealous, Garp?"
All five sets were silver-grade.
Each allowed players to choose custom enhanced stats, and once complete, granted powerful set bonuses.
Whitebeard had chosen [Blood Attribute].
Once the set was complete, it would enhance his Crimson Troll bloodline and all related skills by 50%.
Even with just one piece, he already received a 5% boost.
"Hmph. Gear junkie!"
Garp shook out his numb hand,
glancing at his lone [Magic Ocean] chestplate and feeling bitter.
They had always been rivals—
in both the game and the real world.
They had fought many battles and knew each other's strengths well.
Whitebeard's core power: [Crimson Troll Lv.30],
and Garp's [Bajiquan Lv.31] were both rated at [1000] combat power.
They were evenly matched.
Without the gear advantage, he would never have lost to this old pirate relic.
[Family Defense Battle Begins!]
Notice: This is a Tier 1 battle. Boss monster [Demon-Winged Dragon] has a combat rating of 600. To prevent unfair competition over rewards, your combat power has been temporarily capped at 600. Enjoy the game!
Black text floated across Garp's screen.
He suddenly felt like countless invisible chains were wrapping around him—limiting his stats, skills, equipment, and item effects.
He wasn't completely sealed,
but all their effects were weakened to match the capped limit.
He glanced at Whitebeard—
judging by his expression, he'd been nerfed too.
Just like the [Soul Warden] that had capped everyone's strength back in East Blue.
"No matter how many times it happens…
the sheer might of the game merchants always shocks me.
It's like facing the power of a god."
