Chapter 64 - DB | Ch: 64

The situation on Earth was far grimmer than Lisette had anticipated. Goku and the others, tasked with neutralizing the Destron Gas Emitters, were locked in a desperate struggle—one they were rapidly losing. The guardians of the machines, the Ghost Warriors, were far more powerful than the records suggested.

The source of the discrepancy lay in the roster of the ghosts themselves.

"Hehe... I never dreamed I'd be blessed with a chance to settle this score so soon," Bojack sneered, his green skin shimmering with spectral energy.

In the original timeline, the Ghost Warriors were comprised of Frieza, Cooler, Turles, and Lord Slug. But in this world, that was impossible. Turles was alive and fighting alongside the heroes, and Lord Slug had long since been assimilated into Piccolo.

In their place stood the Hera Clan—led by the space pirate Bojack—and Paragus. While Paragus was a minor threat, the Hera Clan had driven the defenders to the brink of collapse. Bojack had emerged ahead of schedule due to Broly's earlier rampage across the galaxy and had been killed only recently. Thus, his presence as a Ghost Warrior was an inevitability.

"Paragus... you truly have no pride as a Saiyan," Vegeta spat, struggling to stand.

"Say what you will. You have no idea how much my son and I loathed King Vegeta. I have lived for nothing but revenge against your bloodline. Now, Ghost Warriors! Use your power to erase the Saiyans from existence!"

Even among Saiyans, there were those who burned with a hatred for their own kind. Paragus was one such man, desiring nothing more than the total extinction of his race.

At his command, Zangya and Bido closed in on Vegeta. One held him in place while the other bound him with threads of psychic energy. It was a combination Vegeta couldn't break in his weakened state; he became a literal punching bag as Zangya hammered him from both sides.

"You're a disgrace to our people!" Turles roared. He delivered a heavy kick that sent Paragus spinning through a skyscraper. The building collapsed, and Paragus dissolved into mist—only to reform a second later, a dark smoke coalescing back into a physical body.

That was the nightmare of the Ghost Warriors. As long as the Destron Gas flowed, they were immortal. Facing an indestructible Bojack was a task beyond hope. Even the emitters themselves were preternaturally durable; Vegeta's blasts hadn't left so much as a scratch on the machines.

"This is bad... real bad," Turles grumbled, standing back-to-back with Goku. "The plan was to break the machines and back up the Goddess, but we're about to be the ones who need backup. We're gonna die at this rate."

"Heh... I was actually happy for the rematch since I was asleep when these guys first showed up," Goku admitted, wiping sweat from his brow. "But hitting guys who won't stay down? That's getting old fast."

The two lunged forward in perfect sync, striking at Bojack and Gokua with a seamless combination of blows. They knocked the pirates back, but it was futile. The enemies simply stood back up, their wounds closing instantly.

Defeat was certain. Goku, Turles, Trunks, and Nappa were covered in wounds. Gohan, the strongest among them, was flagging from exhaustion, and Vegeta was too damaged to even stand.

"Ohohoho! All you Saiyan monkeys will die!" Frieza laughed as he traded blows with Trunks. His spectral form seemed to have granted him a power boost, allowing him to hold his own against a Super Saiyan.

While some were stronger, one was notably absent: Cooler. He should have been there, but he was nowhere to be found. Unlike the others, Cooler didn't hate the Saiyans; his hatred was reserved solely for the Goddess of Earth. Because his grudge was misplaced, he couldn't manifest here.

"Damn it! They just keep coming!" Piccolo snarled, struggling against Bido. He wasn't weak enough to lose to a henchman, but while he grew tired, the ghosts did not.

And the enemy was not just the villains they knew. Kanassans wiped out by Saiyans eons ago, Arlians destroyed by Vegeta and Nappa on their way to Earth—countless lives snuffed out by the Saiyan race had returned as ghosts to claim their toll.

The Destron Gas had saturated the atmosphere. People across the globe were collapsing. Plants withered, cities went dark, and the end of the world was measured in seconds. Everyone looked to the black sky with eyes of pure despair.

Then, the miracle happened.

+++

A rain of white meteors tore through the clouds, striking the Earth with surgical precision. They hit every Destron Gas Emitter on the planet, vaporizing the machines and the Ghost Warriors guarding them in a single flash.

Frieza, Paragus, and even the mighty Bojack were erased instantly. No matter how much malice they possessed, their hollow spectral bodies were no match for the radiance descending from above. It wasn't even a fight; it was an erasure.

As the ghosts vanished, screaming their lingering regrets into the wind, Goku and the others looked up in stunned silence. They weren't the only ones. Millions of people across the planet watched as the dark clouds parted to reveal a white silhouette descending from the heavens.

「...」

Lisette swept her hand across the horizon.

A light, identical to the brilliance of a Spirit Bomb, effused across the surface of the Earth. Withered forests turned green. The sick and wounded were healed instantly. Despair was forcibly overwritten by hope. It was the very image of divine salvation. People fell to their knees, weeping and praying to their savior.

But then, Lisette raised her hand again. She launched a second wave—not at the monsters, but at the humans she was sworn to protect.

"What...?" Gohan gasped, his eyes wide with horror.

The flashes of light struck every "evil" soul on Earth—murderers, thieves, and violent criminals. It didn't kill them. Instead, it "purified" them. Their malice was bleached away, their personalities forcibly rewritten into "saints" against their will.

The former criminals stood up, repenting for their sins with a glazed, haunting zeal. They began to chant for peace with a terrifying, uniform brightness in their eyes. It was identical to what had happened to the Demon King Dabura in the Other World—a total, artificial reformation.

By eradicating every trace of negative emotion, Lisette hadn't saved them; she had effectively erased who they were. It was a "miracle" forced upon the world, a terrifying departure from her true self.

Gohan, unable to stay silent, flew into the air to confront her.

"Stop! Please, Goddess! What are you doing?! Why are you attacking the people of Earth?!"

「... Saiyans... evil beings...」

"Wait—what?"

Lisette looked at Gohan with eyes that held no warmth, her voice a hollow, emotionless echo. She raised a hand toward him and released a Kiai Cannon. The force was so immense it would have blasted Gohan straight through the atmosphere and into deep space if Goku hadn't intercepted him.

Goku caught his son, but his heart sank. Gohan, who had been a Super Saiyan 2, was unconscious. He had reverted to his base form from a single, casual strike.

"Hey! Goddess! What's the big idea?!" Goku roared. "You trying to kill Gohan?!"

「...」

"No talking, huh?"

Lisette fired another blast, and Goku barely managed to dodge. He didn't need a scouter to tell him something was terribly wrong. Piccolo and Trunks arrived to support him, but Lisette's gaze toward them was detached—as if she were looking at insects. This wasn't the look of a comrade or a protector.

"Goku! What happened to her?!" Piccolo yelled.

"I don't know! But she's not herself! And her power... it's on a completely different level!"

「...King Piccolo... an evil... to be removed...」

Lisette identified Piccolo as a threat and summoned a blade of light. He dodged by a hair's breadth, but the shockwave nearly took his head off. The heroes could no longer sense her ki, but their instincts screamed that she was the most dangerous thing they had ever faced.

Vegeta, however, didn't hesitate. He smirked, his aura flaring as he pushed his power to the limit.

"Hmph! I don't care what your game is, but if you want to fight, I'll oblige! I'll kill you where you stand!"

"Father, wait!"

"Move! FINAL FLASH!!"

Vegeta unleashed his ultimate attack, a massive golden torrent of energy aimed directly at Lisette. It was a logical decision—if she was an enemy, she had to be destroyed. But in terms of power, it was a catastrophic miscalculation.

Lisette emerged from the smoke, her barrier untouched. With a simple, effortless motion, she released another Kiai Cannon. Vegeta was slammed into the dirt so hard the ground shattered. He lost consciousness instantly, his golden hair fading to black.

"Impossible... Gohan and Vegeta, both gone in one hit..."

"She's too strong... Lisette, what happened to you...?" Trunks trembled, unable to even comprehend the magnitude of her power.

Lisette didn't answer. Naturally, the heroes turned their focus to the figure standing smugly behind her: Cell.

"Cell! Answer me! What did you do to her?!"

"Hehe... me? You think someone like me could 'do' anything to such a being? In the face of the ultimate, perfection is meaningless. I simply gave her a little nudge."

"You bastard...!"

"Don't be so angry, Trunks. What's about to happen isn't necessarily a bad thing for you."

Cell remained calm even as Trunks's rage boiled over. A black, swirling aura began to manifest around Lisette, coiling like a serpent. Goku recognized it immediately—it was the same "Villainous" energy he had seen when Frieza had suddenly transformed on Namek.

If Lisette were sane, she would have recognized it as the brainwashing used by Mira and Towa.

"Cell! What are you planning for her?!"

"I am going to begin the true Correction of History."

"Correction of History?!"

"That's right. I will rewrite the Scrolls of Time and fix our timeline. That nightmare future... all that tragedy... I will make it so none of it ever happened. A world where she doesn't have to suffer, or grieve, or fight... I will build that world. And for that, I need her absolute power. A power that transcends even the gods—enough to repel the interference of the Supreme Kai of Time herself!"

Trunks stared in confusion. Scrolls of Time? Supreme Kai of Time? These terms meant nothing to him. But he knew one thing: you couldn't change the past to fix the future. It only created branches.

"Cell, our future won't change! Even if you change this past, it just creates a parallel world!"

"Normally, yes. Bulma was a genius, but she was human. Her time machine had limits. But Trunks... there is a way to truly change the future, and that is by altering the Scrolls of Time. He taught me that."

Cell laughed manically, looking at Lisette. Everything was in place. A New God in the Divine Realm. Double brainwashing via Villainous Mode and the control device. And "his" power to cross time. By taking her back to the origin of the tragedy, he could save the future.

Of course, the Time Patrol would interfere. The Supreme Kai of Time would send her subordinates. But with Lisette in this state, nothing could stop them.

「...」

But Cell had miscalculated. And so had his "benefactor." They had underestimated the sheer scale of Lisette's new power.

Lisette glanced at Cell with an empty expression and flared her ki.

The black "Villainous" aura was instantly blown away like mist. The control ring on her forehead shattered into pieces. Only the incandescent Goddess remained, shining brighter than before.

"What...?!"

「...Evil... energy...」

Lisette raised her hand toward Cell. He tried to move, but speed was an irrelevant concept now. A beam of pure light erased the entire right half of Cell's body, along with his ambitions.

As he spiraled away, half-destroyed, Cell let out a scream of pure betrayal.

"Impossible... this wasn't the deal...?! Did you... did you set me up?! DEMIGRA!!"

Cell vanished into the distance, shouting a name no one recognized. No one could control her. No one could stop her.

The New God had awakened. And her forced "hope" was about to consume the world.

Data Archive: The Broken Plan

Villainous Mode: The black aura used by Towa and Mira to power up and brainwash warriors. Lisette's divine power was so high that she purged the corruption instantly, but she remains in her "God-trance."

The Control Device: A modified version of Paragus's ring. It failed because Lisette's soul has shifted to a plane where mortal technology cannot reach.

Demigra: The "Demon God" from Dragon Ball Xenoverse. It appears Cell was a pawn in a much larger game to disrupt the flow of time.

The "Purification": Lisette's divine logic is currently: "All conflict stems from evil. If I erase evil from the soul, peace is achieved." She doesn't realize she is stripping humanity of their free will.
