We were back in the battle field. The audience was packed. No one really knew that I was actually the champion and so had betted against me. I just chuckled at that.
There was a toss and so I was suppose to send my pokemon first. Blake said its okay and he will send first but I said it was okay anyway.
"Go Golduck." I sent out a golduck.
[Golduck-Psudo legend-lvl 75]
Everyone was instantly shocked seeing a shiny golduck obviously. But Blake. He looked tense. Guess he sensed that the golduck was not a weak pokemon. But I did not want him to hold back.
"Mr Blake." I shouted. He looked at me.
"Lets have a full power battle. After all.." I said with a smirk.
"There are few battles that really exite me anymore since I became champion you see." I said.
Blake widen his eyes at that. I removed my mask with a smirk.
"Sorry for this sudden surprise Mr Blake. I Regina champion of Kanto, challenge you to a battle, please do not think of me as a newbie and hold back." I said with a smile
He was shocked but then his eyes harden.
"Go Incineroar."
[Incineroar-lvl 75-champion]
The referee's arm rose.
"Battle… BEGIN!"
Blake:
"Fake Out!"
Incineroar lunged with a speed that contradicted its bulky frame, a sharp palm strike crackling with pressure. Golduck's eyes widened—
Regina:
"Phase with Water Pulse—NOW!"
Golduck spun into liquid motion, its body shifting just enough for the strike to graze past, releasing a spherical burst of rippling water point-blank.
It detonated.
Incineroar skidded backward, smoke trailing from its fur.
Blake's grin sharpened.
Blake:
"Good. Time for real damage. Incineroar—DARKEST LARIAT!"
Incineroar started spinning, arms out, carving dark red arcs through the air.
Regina:
"Golduck—Aqua Jet to the left, slip under!"
Golduck became a streak of blue, sliding past the swirling vortex of claws.
But Blake was already ready.
Blake:
"Cut the spin—pivot—GRAB IT!"
Incineroar planted its foot, stopped instantly, and snatched Golduck out of the Aqua Jet mid-burst.
The audience gasped.
Then—
Blake:
"Cross Chop!"
A brutal "X" of blazing claws tore across Golduck's chest and slammed it into the ground.
But Regina did not flinch.
Regina:
"Golduck… rise. Use Calm Mind."
Golduck's fingers curled into the stone as it pulled itself up. The gem burned with a white aura, mind sharpening, power amplifying.
Blake's smile vanished.
Blake:
"We break that boost immediately! Incineroar—Flare Blitz!"
Flames erupted around the wrestler Pokémon as it charged, becoming a blazing comet.
Regina:
"Light screen! water pulse"
Golduck thrust out its palms. A prismatic barrier shimmered into existence—
BLAST.
Flare Blitz shattered through the Psychic Wall like a meteor, slamming Golduck across the arena. Even Regina had to brace herself.
But Golduck stood again. Breathing hard. Gem shining brighter. Continuous amnesia boosting its special defense and light screen wall had reduced the damage significantly.
Regina:
"Now… Hydro Pump!"
Golduck inhaled deeply, then unleashed a massive spiraling torrent.
Blake:
"Bulk up against it—then Anchor Drop!"
Incineroar flexed, muscles tightening, lowering its stance. The Hydro Pump hammered into it, pushing it back, but it didn't fall.
Then Incineroar roared and charged straight through the water, forcing its way against the torrent with brute strength—
And leapt.
Blake:
"SLAM IT!"
A crushing body-slam dropped from above like falling steel.
Golduck barely rolled aside, water spraying from its feet.
The ground cracked under Incineroar's landing.
Even after the clash, both Pokémon were panting, battered, but unwavering. Equal in willpower. Equal in ferocity.
The storm above intensified.
Blake pushed his cloak back.
Blake:
"Time to close this. Incineroar—REVENGE STANCE!"
Incineroar's belt flared crimson. The ground trembled.
Regina's eyes narrowed.
She knew this stance—Kael's signature style. A counter-offensive technique that turned incoming damage into catastrophic power.
Regina:
"Golduck… do you trust me?"
Golduck's eyes softened, then it nodded.
Regina:
"Then break the stance."
"Use Liquidation—vertical spiral!"
Golduck surged upward, creating a towering vortex of water before diving straight down like a spear.
Blake:
"Catch it with Throat Chop!"
Incineroar's hand glowed purple as it swung—
But Golduck twisted at the last second, flipping over the strike and slamming its tail into Incineroar's neck, disrupting its rhythm.
A perfect martial counter.
Blake's eyes widened.
For the first time, he looked genuinely impressed.
Blake: "Incineroar time to end this use Darkest Lairat."
Regina: "Golduck counter with Hydro pump."
When the mist finally cleared—
Incineroar was on one knee.
Shaking.
Trying to stand.
Golduck stood opposite, barely upright, swaying, but conscious.
Blake whispered, "…So this is Champion level…"
Then—
Incineroar fell.
THUD.
The arena erupted.
WINNER: CHAMPION Regina'S GOLDUCK
Golduck dropped to its knees but smiled weakly as Regina ran to it and placed a hand on its shoulder.
Blake returned his Incineroar, exhaling deeply.
I walked towards him and smiled.
"It was a nice battle," I said, extending my hand for a handshake. He shook it back.
"I have something to ask." I said lowering my voice so that only he can hear.
"In private." I added. Blake was confused but nodded.
