Renkai circled the clearing, ever watchful. "Just… don't get too close to any roots. The forest floor here is deceptive." His eyes flicked to a tangle of twisted roots, some covered in moss and others sharper, almost claw-like, jutting out as if to snag unwary feet.
Sure enough, as Lira moved to the next cluster of fruits, her foot caught on a hidden root, sending her stumbling slightly. She caught herself with a hand on a nearby trunk, laughing softly. "These roots don't want us to take their treasure easily," she murmured.
Rose carried a small satchel filled with collected leaves and herbs, carefully balancing it as she moved through the clearing. "Some of these forest plants really do fight back," she said, nudging a branch out of her path. "It's like they know we're here."
