Chapter 299 - The Martial Soul of Life

The God of Destruction nodded lightly.

The Goddess of Life continued asking, "But why would he do this? A lie like this would fall apart the moment we take a look at the Douluo Continent. Why bother making up something so flimsy?"

After she spoke, a faint trace of mockery appeared on the God of Destruction's face. He sighed and said to the Goddess of Life, "Little Green, if I hadn't happened to glance at the Douluo Continent when Tang San revived that beast, I never would've noticed the problem! As for you—after that, didn't you completely believe what Tang San said without a shred of doubt?"

Hearing this, the Goddess of Life lowered her head. After a long moment, she murmured, "I'm sorry, Little Purple… I trusted Tang San too much."

The God of Destruction shook his head. "No, this isn't your fault. Tang San hides his actions far too well. Not just you—even Ji Dong and Lie Yan didn't notice anything, did they? Though those two always follow Tang San unquestioningly, so it's normal they couldn't see through him."

As for the other First-Level and Second-Level Gods—since Tang San, the Enforcer himself, said so, what grounds did they have to question him? Besides, very few in the God Realm even paid attention to the situation on the Douluo Continent.

"I'm going to confront Tang San right now!" The Goddess of Life made up her mind and was about to leave, but the God of Destruction blocked her path.

"Little Green, if you confront him now, the outcome will only be one thing: he won't admit anything, and you'll end up under house arrest."

Standing before her, the God of Destruction spoke solemnly. "Don't forget—he wields two god positions. You're no match for him."

"So what, we just sit here and watch him deceive every god in the realm?" The Goddess of Life's anger surged. The Sea God and the Asura God trusted Tang San wholeheartedly, and because of that, she too believed in Tang San's character.

Ever since Tang San ascended to godhood, he had dutifully fulfilled the responsibilities of an Enforcer. Never would she have thought he'd secretly commit such acts behind everyone's backs!

It was hard for any god to accept.

The Goddess of Life felt personally deceived.

"Tang San's control over the Douluo Continent is so absolute that even we can barely circumvent it. He already treats that plane as his personal backyard. With just our words, without the gods being able to witness the truth themselves, no one will believe us."

The God of Destruction had a clear grasp of the situation. Given how much Tang San valued the Douluo Continent, he naturally wouldn't allow other gods to observe it freely.

Even if they tried to expose Tang San before the entire God Realm, without concrete evidence, would the gods believe the God of Destruction—who had always been at odds with Tang San? Or would they believe the "righteous" Enforcer Tang San? That was far from certain.

"Then what should we do?" The Goddess of Life frowned. Seeing the confidence in his eyes, she asked, "Little Purple, you've already thought of a plan, haven't you?"

"Let those so-called 'evils' walk out of the Douluo Continent and stand before all the gods. Then, the truth will reveal itself." The God of Destruction replied calmly.

Hearing this, the Goddess of Life added, "But I heard Tang San is already preparing those few Second-Level Gods from the Douluo Continent to inherit god positions. Once a group of new gods is born there, even if those two children are incredibly gifted, how could they possibly contend with divine power?"

After all, the highest level on the Douluo Continent was Level Ninety-Nine. And even the weakest divine official began at level One Hundred. Once those people inherited god positions, their cultivation would skyrocket instantly.

"If they truly die, then they're not worthy of inheriting my god position." The God of Destruction didn't seem particularly concerned. Whether Jiang Shengyu or anyone else survived a confrontation with such powers—those who lived would become his allies.

"You always talk like this! They're innocent—how can you just let them be harmed?" The Goddess of Life frowned, scolding him.

The God of Destruction glanced at his wife and said with a small smile, "Little Green, not long ago you were still arguing with me on Tang San's behalf, telling me not to target him."

Hearing that, the Goddess of Life glared at him. "That was then! I didn't know the truth at the time. Now that I do, there's no way I'll let him destroy the laws of the God Realm! If you won't help those two children, I will!"

"But neither of their martial souls matches your Life God position. Even if you want to help, it might not be effective," the God of Destruction countered.

The Goddess of Life, however, didn't mind. "With my power, granting her a life-attribute martial soul is hardly difficult."

Though she didn't fully understand martial souls, creating one was nothing for a God King—especially for one embodying the pure force of life.

Giving them an additional martial soul meant an extra chance to win.

"Once that little girl cultivates the life-attribute martial soul to a certain level, I'll let her inherit my god position directly." The Goddess of Life continued.

The God of Destruction froze, staring at her in shock. "Little Green… are you serious?"

The Goddess of Life shot him a glance. "Do you think I'm joking? I'm nothing like you."

With that, she strode away. Watching her leave, the God of Destruction let out a sigh. His wife was wonderful in many ways—her only flaw was how easily she believed in something, and how steadfastly she committed once she believed.

Still…

His gaze shifted to Jiang Qingtong, frowning as he muttered, "If this little girl really inherits Little Green's god position, won't I have to pass mine to that brat? … Forget it. So be it."

Douluo Continent, Mingdu.

The Heart of Destruction that the God of Destruction had given Jiang Shengyu was casually tossed into the blazing Pure Lotus Demon Flame hanging in the sky. The immense energy instantly caused the flame's radiance to surge severalfold!

From that moment onward, the Pure Lotus Demon Flame could truly replace the real sun, bringing light to all of the Sun–Moon Empire.

Seeing the flame shining brighter than ever, the citizens of the Sun–Moon Empire were ecstatic. They didn't know when the sun would return, but they did know—every increase in the flame's brilliance meant Jiang Shengyu's cultivation had advanced.

Meanwhile, Jiang Qingtong—who was currently using her Spirit Eyes martial soul to replace Huo Yuhao in assisting with soul-tool research—suddenly froze. She realized that everyone around her seemed to have stopped moving entirely, as if time itself had been paused.
