"Synchro Summon, raging soul! Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend!"
With its right hand and right horn both in a battle-damaged, broken state, the Synchro Dragon burning within flames raised its head and roared above the territory of Class C, Year Three.
"B-Bro?" Tyles stared dumbfounded at the sky. "What kind of magic did you just pull off?"
Even if you're an idiot who can't use Synchro, you should at least have seen it before, right? Or do you guys not pay attention in class at all… oh right, Class E doesn't even have teachers.
In truth, even idiots like Class E, Year Three, definitely knew about Synchro Summoning.
It was just that the Synchro demonstrated personally by Miles, just like that absurd leap across the entire battlefield, was so outrageous that Tyles' already slow-processing brain CPU immediately crashed.
"That monster is…!"
After Lloyd had jumped up in shock, Leon also rose from his seat.
How could he possibly forget Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend?
That was the ace Synchro Monster used by Lost Vela, whom he had fought fiercely during the Turbo Duel Tournament.
Leon said, "Why does a transfer student from Fusion Academy have the ace monster of Synchron Academy? Just who exactly is that transfer student?"
A mysterious powerhouse who could use both Fusion and Synchro Summoning had now transferred into Xyz Academy.
Then his purpose in coming to Xyz must be to attempt to master the final summoning method.
But why Class E?
That question still troubled the minds of these two top-tier Duelists of Xyz Academy.
"Synchro Summoning?" Facing the dragon's blazing flames head-on, Sakuya's brown eyes reflected crimson. "Using two monsters to Synchro into one with lower Attack… what are you trying to do?"
Compared to the 3100 Attack of D/D/D Dragon King Pendragon before the Synchro, Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend's 3000 Attack was clearly lower.
But those 3000 Attack points were just enough.
For the sake of the fastest possible victory through Synchro Summoning, Miles had to go all out and secure the win at full speed.
At the same time, within Class E's territory, August had already begun a duel with the vanguard of Class C that had arrived the fastest.
"Let this strike blast out our victory! I activate the effect of Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend!"
[Once per turn, during your Main Phase: Destroy all Special Summoned monsters on the field with Attack less than or equal to this card's Attack, except this card, then inflict 500 damage to your opponent for each monster destroyed.]
The blazing dragon flames swept across the entire field, surrounding the two [Van'Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord] on Sakuya's field, both of which had lower Attack than Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend.
By using Scarlight's effect to destroy the two Special Summoned Underworld Dragons, it would clear Sakuya's entire field while dealing exactly 1000 points of effect damage.
Combined with Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend's 3000 Attack, it would become a single finishing blow for a second-turn kill.
The entire crowd cried out in shock… was this really a play that a student from Class E, Year Three, could make?
That mysterious transfer student… so he wasn't strong because he possessed a God Card.
Then everyone had no choice but to consider another possibility.
It wasn't that he became strong because he had a God Card.
It was because he was strong enough that he could possess a God Card.
So why transfer into Class E?
"Amazing, bro!" Tyles finally couldn't hold back and excitedly got up from the ground.
"Explode, dragon! Absolute Authority Flame!!"
The broken claw wrapped in a tornado of flames slammed fiercely into the ground, and the expanding shockwave heat blasted Sakuya's long black hair violently backward.
"As a proud student of Xyz Academy, how could I lose to Synchro Summoning on my own battlefield!"
Amid the sweeping flames, Sakuya forcefully endured the dragon's explosive heat and flipped over a set card in her back row.
"I chain to the effect of Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend—Trap Card [Wonder Xyz]!"
[Immediately after this effect resolves, Xyz Summon 1 Xyz Monster using monsters you control as Materials.]
An Xyz Summon unfolded within the raging flames. Naturally, the materials Sakuya used for the Xyz Summon were the two Level 8 [Van'Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord] on her field.
As long as there were monsters of the same Level, possibilities could be created. This convenient summoning method was also the firm belief of all Xyz Academy students—that their summoning method was the strongest.
"I overlay my two [Van'Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord] and Xyz Summon, Rank 8—Shatter the darkness with an undead iron fist! Descend, Number 22: Zombiestein!"
[Number 22: Zombiestein] Level 8│DARK│Zombie│4500 ATK
[2 Level 8 DARK monsters]
Summoned by overlaying two Level 8 DARK monsters, Number 22's massive, muscular body appeared, its Attack instantly surpassing Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend. At 4500 Attack, it even exceeded Obelisk the Tormentor, rivaling Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.
Sakuya waved her hand and declared, "Because [Number 22: Zombiestein] has higher Attack than [Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend], it won't be destroyed by its effect! Go!—'Zombiestein Fist'!"
Zombiestein's full-force punch tore through the blazing flames, abruptly halting Scarlight's destruction effect.
Miles said, "A Rank 8 Xyz with 4500 Attack? Just Class C alone has already reached this level?"
Compared to the uniformly basic Xyz Summons from Class D yesterday, this Xyz Summon was simply on a completely different level.
"Watch your wording," Sakuya corrected. "This is the level of Class C's Class Rep!"
The more he wanted to end the duel fast, the more unexpected complications arose. Right now, all Miles could do was hope that August, who had already begun her duel, could hold out a little longer.
"I'll have to believe in our Class Rep as well.
"I activate the Continuous Spell [Dark Contract with the Swamp King]!"
Since Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend failed to destroy Zombiestein, Miles immediately chose to deploy the Contract of the Demon King for Fusion Summoning.
"According to the effect of [Dark Contract with the Swamp King], I can use DD monsters in my Graveyard as Fusion Materials to Fusion Summon a DDD monster!"
Through the contract-based Fusion from the Graveyard, the two DD monsters that had been sent there as Synchro Materials for Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend were once again banished and used as Fusion Materials.
"This time, it's not just about using a king—it's time to summon a hero! I fuse [D/D Lamia] and [D/D/D Dragon King Pendragon] from my Graveyard!"
Amid the spiraling effect of the contract Fusion, a brand-new DDD monster was called forth under the name of a legendary hero.
"The hero who defeated giants, slew sea serpents, and saw through the chaos of the world's future! Drink the blood that flows toward the future and become the warrior who can bring down even dragons! Fusion Summon—[D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf]!!"
[D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf] Level 8│DARK│Fiend│3000 ATK
The legendary hero king who defeated giants, severed the head of a sea serpent, fought a life-and-death battle with a dragon, and perished alongside it.
Embodiment of brute strength, [D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf] appeared in the form of a beast-warrior werewolf.
Sakuya emphasized, "A Fusion Monster with 3000 Attack, just like Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend—neither can defeat Zombiestein!"
Sakuya had only noticed that Miles' Fusion and Synchro Monsters both had 3000 Attack.
But she failed to notice another shared point.
Both Beowulf and Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend were Level 8 monsters.
"Not noticing that just shows your Xyz skills still need work!"
With a sweeping motion of his arm, Miles constructed an overlay network using the two Level 8 monsters on his field.
Letting the dragon-slaying hero and the flame-burning dragon together perform an Xyz Summon.
The dragon slayer will ultimately become a dragon.
"The galaxy that shines within the darkness, let the vengeful god dwelling within take form as radiant light! Xyz Summon—descend! Rank 8! [Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon]!"
[Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon] Rank 8│LIGHT│Dragon│3000 ATK
Spreading dazzling twin wings of radiant galactic light, the power of [Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon], inherited by Dark Aisha from her ancestor Yuna, now radiated forth from the Soul Room and was wielded by Miles.
"A Rank 8 Xyz Summon right away?!"
The brilliant galaxy light overlaying Fusion and Synchro completely overturned Leon and Lloyd's expectations.
A mysterious transfer student who could wield Fusion and Synchro Summoning; one would have thought he transferred to Xyz Academy to obtain the final Xyz power.
But it turned out the two of them had overthought it.
This mysterious transfer student not only used Fusion and Synchro; he was even more proficient at Xyz Summoning than most students of Xyz Academy.
A powerful and dazzling dragon of the galaxy.
"Another one from Fusion Academy who dominates all three summoning methods," Leon said in shock.
Is your Fusion Academy really trying to develop toward mastering all summoning methods?
The last time Leon had seen a Duelist from Fusion Academy who mastered all summoning methods and could wield a God Card, that person's name was Aisha Carlos.
It was just too similar… the feeling was almost identical.
Whether it was mastery of the three summoning methods or the ability to wield the power of the gods.
If Leon hadn't seen Aisha in person, he would have believed that Aisha Carlos had changed gender and secretly infiltrated Xyz Academy.
"Shine, surging galaxy of raging tides!"
Needing to secure victory before August fell, Miles wasted no time and immediately activated the effect of [Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon].
[Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; take control of it until the End Phase. That monster's effects are negated, its Attack becomes 3000, and its name becomes "Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon".]
"I detach Xyz Material [D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf] to activate the effect—illuminate the darkness! Cipher Projection!!"
The dazzlingly brilliant light-wave dragon wings projected the control-stealing effect toward Zombiestein.
"There's no way I'll let you succeed! I activate the effect of [Number 22: Zombiestein]!"
[Once per turn, if this card is in Attack Position: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard, then target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; this card changes to Defense Position, and if it does, negate the targeted card's effects until the end of this turn. This effect can also be activated during your opponent's turn.]
"I detach an Xyz Material, then discard my last card from my hand to chain and negate the effect of [Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon]! Therefore, [Number 22: Zombiestein] will not have its control taken!"
"But!" Miles emphasized, "After activating that effect, [Number 22: Zombiestein] will switch to Defense Position!"
With its massive 4500 Attack, Zombiestein's Defense was—
[Number 22: Zombiestein, DEF: 1000]
A pitiful value of only 1000, easily breakable by [Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon].
But even if it were broken through, Sakuya's remaining 4000 Life Points would not suffer any damage.
Though it might be embarrassing to admit, Sakuya—thoroughly suppressed and unable to catch her breath—had already given up on winning this duel.
Of course, giving up on winning the duel did not mean she had given up on winning the duel war.
Just as Miles desperately sought a swift victory, Sakuya only needed to maintain her Life Points and stall for time until Class C's assault force defeated August, the Class Rep of Class E.
"Then let me teach you one more thing, Class Rep of Class C!"
Miles drew out the final card in his hand and flung it into the air.
"When a Duelist gives up on victory and loses their fighting spirit, even something as simple as stalling for time becomes impossible."
The final Spell Card radiated as holy light shone above Miles' head.
"—Spell Card [Monster Reborn]! I Special Summon [D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf] from my Graveyard!"
Although [Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon]'s effect had been negated, the D/D/D monster detached as cost had indeed been sent to the Graveyard.
[D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf, ATK: 3000]
The legendary hero returned. In the epic of Beowulf, the first enemy he defeated was the cruel and savage giant.
"Let the myth be reenacted, D/D/D! I attack [Number 22: Zombiestein] with [D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf]!"
Like a scene from legend reborn, Beowulf swung his claws and roared as he charged toward the giant ahead.
"This is the effect of [D/D/D Dragonbane King Beowulf]!"
[While this card is on the field, if your "DD" monster attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict battle damage to your opponent equal to the difference between that monster's Attack and Defense.]
It granted all DD monsters on the field the ability to pierce through defense, and this aura-like enhancement naturally included itself.
"Tear it apart and shatter it! Origin Struggle!!"
As if striking a critical weakness, Beowulf's claw instantly crushed Zombiestein's 1000 Defense, and the 2000 piercing damage transformed into a raging gale that blasted toward Sakuya.
"Ahhhhhhh!"
[Number 22: Zombiestein] destroyed
[Sakuya, LP: 4000 → 2000]
"And now it's over! Direct attack with Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon! Annihilation Photon Stream!"
With the hero who shattered the giant, clearing the way, a beam of light that pierced through the galaxy followed immediately after.
"Aaaaaaahhhhhhh!"
[Sakuya, LP: 2000 → 0]
Although there were slight twists in the process, Miles still achieved it; an OTK against Class C's Class Rep Sakuya on his second turn.
As the announcement declaring Class E's victory rang out, following their win against Class D, Class E of Year Three once again performed a miraculous comeback in front of the whole school.
"Looks like we made it in time."
Hearing the announcement of Class E's victory, Miles finally let out the breath he had been holding and looked toward Class E's territory.
"You held on well, August!"
It was also thanks to August, who had taken the general position, managing to endure the group assault from Class C.
Despite there being only two members of the vanguard fighting within Class E's territory, being able to hold their ground without defeat in a two-against-one battle against Class C was impressive enough.
However, what was happening in Class E's territory seemed to have exceeded Miles' expectations.
"W-we won?" August looked ahead in disbelief.
Winning did not only refer to Class E defeating Class C.
"I actually… won!"
It also meant that August, the Class Rep of Class E, had defeated two Class C students in a one-versus-two situation.
Thanks to the brilliant evolution shining on August's field:
