Chapter 73 - Chapter 72: Awakening Rinnegan

The battlefield had gone silent.

The wind carried the faint smell of blood and smoke that still lingered from the fight.

Danzo Shimura lay motionless on the ground, his lifeless eyes open, staring into the empty sky. His end had come without glory, only the bitter consequence of his own greed.

Hiruzen Sarutobi stood before the body of his long-time comrade. The Third Hokage's shoulders trembled ever so slightly. His wrinkled hands hung loosely at his sides, still marked by the faint traces of chakra burns.

He could not speak.

He could not even look away.

Danzo — his friend, his rival, his burden — was gone.

The old man's chest tightened.

Was this justice… or failure?

Was this what all his decades of leadership had amounted to?

His gaze lowered to the ground, heavy with unspoken guilt. The village was changing faster than his heart could bear. His ideals — once bright — now flickered like dying embers. He had lost so much.

The Uchiha massacre had already driven deep cracks into Konoha's soul, and now Danzo's death had ripped those cracks wide open.

Hiruzen could feel the weight of tomorrow pressing down on him. He wondered if there even was a future left for him as Hokage.

Behind him, the air shifted.

Indra Uchiha stood several meters away, his posture relaxed yet sharp — like a blade resting quietly on its sheath. His dark eyes observed the old Hokage with unreadable amusement.

A faint, chilling smile formed on Indra's lips.

It wasn't one of joy or victory.

It was darker — cold, knowing, and utterly dangerous.

The kind of smile that made even the proudest shinobi avert their gaze.

Hiruzen sensed it. He turned slightly, meeting Indra's eyes for a moment — and in that instant, he saw something that froze him inside. There was no compassion there. No pity. Only the calm confidence of someone who had seen through every illusion this world could offer.

Indra's smirk deepened.

And then — he heard it.

> [System Notification: Congratulations to the Host for completing the task — "Survive the Uchiha Genocide."]

The voice echoed inside his mind — mechanical, emotionless, yet strangely soothing.

His gaze flickered briefly, but he kept his face composed.

> [System Notification: Do you wish to accept the reward?]

The corner of Indra's mouth lifted higher.

He could feel the tension in his muscles, the exhaustion creeping into every nerve from the relentless fighting and emotional strain.

His chakra reserves were low, his body was numb. But that mechanical voice was a promise — one he had been waiting for.

Without hesitation, he answered within his mind, his tone firm and low.

"Yes."

The moment he accepted — his body reacted.

> [System Notification: Congratulations to the Host for receiving the "Ashura Template."]

A strange calm enveloped him first — like cool water spreading through his veins. Then the true transformation began.

Indra's breath hitched. His body trembled slightly as a rush of energy coursed through him. It wasn't painful — it was invigorating, almost intoxicating.

His fatigue melted away as if it had never existed. His wounds, even the smallest scratches on his hands and face, began to close rapidly before everyone's eyes.

The temperature around him seemed to drop, then rise again — an unstable rhythm that made the surrounding chakra in the air vibrate faintly.

His heartbeat steadied.

His energy returned in waves.

Every nerve in his body screamed with newfound vitality. His chakra network expanded violently — dozens of times larger than it had ever been.

He inhaled deeply, his senses sharpening. The wind against his skin felt clearer, the scent of iron in the air sharper, and the faintest rustle of movement nearby became audible.

Then came the burning sensation in his eyes.

It started as a faint sting, but quickly grew into searing heat that forced him to frown. His brows furrowed slightly, and his breathing grew heavier.

The Uchiha watching him immediately noticed. Their expressions tensed.

"What's happening to him?" one of them whispered.

Even the bravest among them felt a pulse of unease. The clan knew that the Sharingan reacted to powerful emotions, but this was different. This was evolution born from something beyond ordinary experience.

Yuhi Kurenai's eyes widened slightly. She felt her pulse quicken as she took an involuntary step forward.

"His chakra… it's rising too fast," she muttered, the unease in her voice plain.

Beside her, several kunoichi shared the same expression — confusion mixed with growing fear.

In the Hokage's faction, the reaction was different.

To them, Indra's sudden change was an opportunity — perhaps a sign that the strain of combat was destabilizing him. Homura and Koharu exchanged quick glances, whispering quietly.

"If his power turns unstable now, it could—"

"—work in our favor," the other finished in a hushed tone.

Their words carried hope, but also desperation.

Yet, that hope would not last long.

Meanwhile, a pair of young, pale eyes watched Indra with innocent confusion. Hinata Hyuga stood beside her father, her small hand clutched tightly at his robe.

Her voice came soft and worried.

"Father… why is Brother Indra like this now? Is he alright?"

Hiashi Hyuga's expression remained calm, but his heart was unsettled.

He didn't know what to tell her. The sight before him was beyond anything he had witnessed. He gently placed his hand on her head, speaking softly.

"He… will be fine. I believe so."

But even as he said it, his doubt deepened.

Hiashi activated his Byakugan, his veins bulging near his temples as he focused on Indra's chakra network.

And then — he froze.

His eyes widened in disbelief. The chakra flow inside Indra wasn't just increasing — it was expanding at an alarming speed. The density, the rotation, the color — everything was unnatural.

His body was radiating pure energy, his cells absorbing and releasing chakra like a living forge.

"This rate…" Hiashi whispered, his voice trembling slightly. "It's beyond normal human limits."

He could see the transformation taking form — bones being reinforced, chakra paths widening, the network glowing with divine radiance. It wasn't evolution; it was rebirth.

The sheer volume of power made even Hiashi's heightened perception flicker. It was as if he was staring into an ocean of light that had no end.

And only he, with his Byakugan, could truly see how deep the transformation went.

Indra's fingers twitched slightly as he directed his focus inward. His chakra responded instantly, converging at one single point — his eyes.

The air vibrated as that power concentrated. His Sharingan flared to life, the red glow cutting through the surrounding shadows.

The tomoe within spun faster than before — wild, relentless, burning with purpose.

Uchiha clansmen gasped, recognizing the transformation. Their breaths came short and fast as they watched his eyes spin in a blur of scarlet light.

And then — the tomoe changed.

The three patterns merged into one intricate design. Power pulsed outward like a heartbeat, sending waves of pressure across the field.

The Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan emerged, refined and absolute.

But it didn't stop there.

Indra's face tensed, the burning intensifying. The red glow deepened, threads of violet light swirling inside his pupils. The Eternal pattern spun faster, the chakra behind it surging until even the ground beneath him began to crack.

The change reached its peak — and then burst.

The red faded into royal purple, and within that purple spun six perfect tomoe, rotating in flawless symmetry.

The moment the light dimmed, the world seemed to still.

Hiashi staggered back a single step, a rare sign of shock crossing his composed features. Sweat formed on his temple as he muttered under his breath, almost inaudible to most.

"These eyes… this is impossible…"

He swallowed hard before finishing in a trembling voice,

"These are the Sage of Six Paths' eyes…"

Shikaku Nara, standing a few feet away, caught the words. His pupils shrank slightly, and for the first time in a long while, he felt genuine fear. His sharp mind raced, and one thought stood above all:

Staying neutral… was the smartest choice I've ever made.

The atmosphere thickened once again as Indra slowly lifted his head. The faint smirk returned to his lips, now mixed with awe.

He could feel everything — the pulse of chakra in the air, the heartbeat of every person nearby, even the faint tremor of nature responding to him.

He clenched his hand slowly, feeling the raw, unshakable power coursing through his veins.

And for the first time, he understood.

A low laugh escaped his throat, quiet at first, then growing louder until it echoed through the field.

"I finally get it…" he said, voice heavy with satisfaction. "This power… it's addictive."

Everyone present felt the weight of those words.

The chapter of mortals had ended. Something far greater had just been born.

Indra's laughter echoed across the battlefield.

It was sharp, deep, and hauntingly calm — not the kind of laugh born from joy, but from something darker. Something far more dangerous.

Each note of that laughter carried weight.

It reverberated through the air, coiling around the hearts of everyone present like an invisible chain.

The silence that followed was heavier than any sound.

Hiashi Hyuga still stood with his Byakugan active, but he couldn't bring himself to look at Indra any longer. His breath grew slow and cautious, his pupils shrinking at what he saw.

The chakra emanating from Indra was no longer mortal. It was divine — radiant, overwhelming, and expanding endlessly.

Beads of sweat formed along Hiashi's neck. His lips parted slightly as he whispered to himself in disbelief.

"This… this isn't human anymore."

The weight of those words hit him harder than he expected. Even his daughter, Hinata, could sense her father's tension.

"Father…?" she whispered, clutching his sleeve tighter.

Hiashi forced himself to answer, his tone low and deliberate, though uncertainty laced his calm exterior.

"It's alright, Hinata. Just… stay behind me."

He didn't dare reveal what he truly saw — the terrifying truth that Indra's chakra wasn't just growing; it was evolving into something divine, something that even the Byakugan struggled to trace.

In the midst of this heavy stillness, Setsuna Uchiha, the elder and Indra's grandfather, stepped forward slowly. His aged eyes gleamed, reflecting both pride and recognition.

The moment he saw Indra's eyes — those glowing purple irises with six tomoe spinning like miniature galaxies — he understood.

Setsuna's wrinkled lips curved into a small smile, one mixed with nostalgia and awe.

He spoke softly at first, almost reverently, "So… this is what you've become."

His words carried the quiet weight of history — the kind that came from generations of Uchiha ambition and suffering.

Then, louder, he said it clearly for all to hear.

"Indra, you truly are the strongest and most gifted Uchiha. Even greater than Madara Uchiha himself."

The words struck like lightning.

The Uchiha clan members around him stiffened, their eyes widening. They exchanged quick, stunned glances with one another. For them, Madara was not merely a legend — he was the symbol of their pride, their madness, and their fall.

To hear someone surpass that name was unthinkable.

Yet Setsuna's tone carried conviction — not flattery, not emotion — but truth.

He took a breath, his chest rising with visible pride, and declared for all of Konoha to hear,

"My grandson, Indra, has awakened the eyes of the Sage of Six Paths! He has reached the path of godhood!"

The crowd stirred.

The Uchiha, once broken and fearful, now felt their hearts ignite.

Their murmurs filled the air — awe, disbelief, and reverence all at once.

"He… he really did it."

"Those eyes… that's the power of the gods."

"Our clan will never be shamed again."

Their voices grew louder, united by the surge of pride that washed over them. For the first time in years, the Uchiha clan felt something beyond pain — they felt vindicated.

Meanwhile, the Hokage's faction — the remnants of the Sarutobi, Shimura, and the two remaining elders, Homura Mitokado and Koharu Utatane — stood in silent dread.

The Aburame and Inuzuka clan members near them exchanged tense looks. They could feel it too. The energy radiating from Indra wasn't just powerful — it was oppressive, suffocating.

It made the ground beneath their feet feel unstable.

Koharu's voice trembled as she whispered, "Those eyes… no, this isn't possible. No one should possess that kind of power."

Homura's lips pressed into a tight line, his mind racing. "If he's awakened the Sage's power, then even the Hokage would be powerless before him."

Their fear was palpable.

Hiruzen, still kneeling near Danzo's body, looked up slowly. His tired eyes reflected the glow of Indra's Rinnegan. There was no denial left in him — only realization.

He could feel the difference. The balance of power in the village had shifted entirely.

The man he had tried to monitor — the one he thought he could control or reason with — had now become something beyond reach.

Hiruzen's heart sank. He was witnessing the birth of a god within his own village — one not of divine mercy, but divine dominance.

Indra slowly stopped laughing.

His shoulders relaxed as the sound faded into an eerie quiet.

He looked around, scanning every face before him — the Uchiha filled with pride, the Hokage faction trembling, the civilians frozen in confusion.

Then his gaze fell on the elders — on Sarutobi, Homura, Koharu, and the few who had supported Danzo's shadow politics.

His Rinnegan glowed faintly. The six tomoe within his eyes rotated slowly, each turn making the air grow colder.

A faint smirk returned to his lips — one that made the blood of everyone watching run cold.

The faint light from his eyes illuminated the ground in a ghostly hue. Even without a word, his presence spoke volumes.

He didn't need to threaten them.

His very existence now was a threat.

Hiashi could feel it — the sheer intent hidden behind that calm expression. His hands trembled despite his effort to stay composed.

He had faced many battles in his life. He had seen the cruelty of shinobi warfare and the arrogance of bloodlines. But never before had he seen such overwhelming dominance in one man's gaze.

The Byakugan allowed him to see chakra, yet even his eyes couldn't fully comprehend Indra's flow. It was limitless — like trying to measure the ocean with a cup.

A single glance from Indra's eyes carried the pressure of countless storms.

The Uchiha clan members stood straighter, pride swelling in their chests as they watched the Hokage's supporters shrink back unconsciously.

Setsuna smiled faintly beside them, his voice steady.

"You see now? This is the blood of our clan, the power that was always destined to rise. Even the heavens cannot suppress it."

His words echoed with cold satisfaction.

The elders from the Hokage's side looked down, avoiding Indra's gaze. They could not argue — not now, not ever again.

Shikaku Nara, standing near Hiashi, exhaled slowly. He understood what this meant more than most.

He had seen countless power struggles and had predicted every possible political outcome… but this — this was beyond logic or calculation.

He murmured under his breath, his voice barely audible, "The balance is gone… completely gone."

Hiashi glanced at him briefly, but said nothing. Both men stood in silent agreement — Konoha had entered a new age, one shaped by fear and reverence toward a single man.

Indra took a slow step forward, and the movement alone sent ripples of tension through the crowd. Every eye followed him, every breath grew shallow.

He didn't say a word. He didn't need to.

His gaze moved from one faction to another, lingering briefly on the Hokage's supporters. His Rinnegan glowed brighter — cold and divine — and a faint chuckle escaped his throat once again.

That sound made even the bravest flinch.

The air itself seemed to bend beneath his aura, and those who had once conspired against the Uchiha now felt their knees weaken.

Homura's hands clenched together tightly as he whispered, "He's not a man anymore… he's a god among us."

Even the fearless Inuzuka leader lowered his head, his loyal ninken whimpering softly beside him — the animal's instincts recognizing what humans refused to admit.

The Aburame clan members remained silent, their insects buzzing uneasily inside their hosts' sleeves.

Indra's smirk widened slightly, satisfaction flickering across his expression as he watched them tremble.

He said nothing — but his silence spoke louder than any declaration.

The old order had crumbled.

Fear had taken its place.

The once-powerful council of elders — those who had hidden behind words like "peace," "duty," and "sacrifice" — now stood powerless beneath the gaze of the man they had tried to destroy.

The same man now looked down upon them with eyes that mirrored the gods themselves.

Indra tilted his head slightly, amusement flickering across his features as he studied their expressions — fear, regret, confusion, and despair.

He found them amusing.

His voice broke the silence at last — soft, almost teasing.

"You all look so fragile now… How interesting."

The words were barely above a whisper, but they cut through the silence like a blade.

Hiashi's heartbeat quickened. Setsuna smiled faintly. The Uchiha clan watched, united by awe and reverence.

The Hokage's side dared not move.

Indra's gaze lingered on them for a few seconds longer, the faint glow of his Rinnegan burning like two purple suns in the darkness.

And then — he laughed again.

It wasn't the laugh of a madman.

It was the laugh of someone who understood the world's cruelty and decided to rule it anyway.

The laugh of someone who had seen the limits of mortals and had surpassed them.

The sound carried through the night, rolling like thunder across the broken courtyard, drowning the silence in its echo.

By the time his laughter faded, everyone knew — something irreversible had happened.

Indra Uchiha had crossed the line between man and god.

And nothing in Konoha would ever be the same again.
