Chapter 269 - 269 Godslayer

"Sherwin, Robin! Look over there, meow! There are strange letters just like the ones on the stone tablet, meow!"

Klee Meow suddenly interrupted Sherwin and Robin conversation, pointing excitedly toward a corner beside the Poneglyph.

Hearing there were more ancient writings, Robin immediately abandoned what she was doing and hurried over.

"I came here, and led this text to its end. — Pirate Gol D. Roger."

Robin slowly read out the inscription on the stone, then murmured thoughtfully,

"I remember now… there are two types of Poneglyphs. Could it be that the true historical record can only be completed by connecting all the inscriptions together into one article that fills the void of the blank century?"

Eh? There such a setting for the Poneglyphs?Sherwin froze for a moment after hearing her muttering.

He couldn't recall too much about the Poneglyphs. After all, even though they were important artifacts tied to the main storyline, Oda had always kept them shrouded in mystery.

So, they never left a strong impression — the kind of thing you'd forget half of right after turning the page.

But now that Robin mentioned it, it actually made sense.

Even if Luffy and his crew finally reached Laugh Tale, it would be impossible for them to have gathered all the Poneglyphs.

That means there should be other stones that the Pirate King collected there. The ones in Luffy possession would then "coincidentally" fill in the gaps Roger couldn't find.

Robin would link the twenty-six informational Poneglyphs — excluding the four Road Poneglyphs — together, finally revealing the secret of the blank hundred years.

So… does that mean Laugh Tale is truly unavoidable?Thinking of the newly unlocked page in his Hunter logbook, Sherwin sighed helplessly.

Compared to scouring the entire world to collect every Poneglyph, directly heading for Laugh Tale seemed far more efficient — and promising.

He had originally thought that even without competing for the One Piece, he could still gather all the fragments. But in the end, it seemed he'd have to join the race after all…

Well, since he'd already come to the world of One Piece, not chasing the great treasure would feel wrong.

And since there was no manga serialization here, if he wanted to uncover this world "ultimate mystery," heading to Laugh Tale was his only option.

Sherwin quickly adjusted his mindset, and just then, his gaze met Robin.

Unlike her usual slightly gloomy demeanor, Robin eyes were now filled with determination — as if she had found a new purpose to pursue. Her entire presence seemed much livelier than before.

Even without any words exchanged or using Observation Haki to sense emotions, Sherwin somehow knew that Robin had just gone through a mental journey similar to his own.

That realization stirred in him a strange feeling toward her — something neither love nor friendship — but rather the resonance of meeting someone who truly shared the same understanding.

What was odd, though, was that even though their goals were the same, their reasons were entirely different.

Sherwin couldn't quite explain why he felt this way, and judging by Robin expression, she seemed to share a similar sentiment.

The two exchanged a small smile, silently agreeing not to bring it up. Instead, they joined the Felynes in securing the Golden Bell onto the Dodo Advance, preparing to deliver it to the Shandians.

Sherwin even wrapped the bell carefully in cloth to prevent it from ringing accidentally during transport.

Since they had no intention of keeping it for themselves, the ringing of the bell should naturally be left to the Shandians — after all, only they were truly worthy of "rekindling" the "Light of Shandora" after four hundred long years.

But before sending the Golden Bell down, there was still one thing Sherwin could conveniently take care of up here in the silent skies.

"Klee, come over here and lend me some luck!"

Sherwin waved to the lucky star of the investigation team, grabbing a handful of her good fortune before dragging the man bound tightly with Seastone chains off the ship — Enel.

"What are you planning to do?!"

The powerless Enel asked in panic.

Sherwin placed his hand lightly on the man neck and grinned.

"Godslaying."

The moment he spoke, Sherwin hand snapped down with force — crack! — breaking Enel neck cleanly.

The self-proclaimed "God of Thunder" froze in terror as the light faded rapidly from his eyes.

In the manga, even after being seemingly "killed" by Wyper Reject Dial, Enel had been able to restart his own heart with lightning and revive himself.

But now, with Seastone chains binding him — and with his neck broken — there was absolutely no chance of resurrection.

Since crossing into this world, Sherwin had already killed countless pirates and major figures from the original story.

There was no way the death of Enel would stir any special emotion in him. Without wasting a second to mourn the fallen "Thunder God," Sherwin swiftly drew his hunter knife and performed yet another "material extraction" on a Devil Fruit user body.

Soon, a completely golden Devil Fruit floated above Enel corpse. Its skin and stem were shaped like crackling lightning bolts — it even looked painful to touch.

Sherwin couldn't help but wonder how Enel had ever managed to eat something that looked like that.

"Ooooh! It finally dropped, meow!"

(=`=)

The little plush-like Felyne mimicked Sherwin tone as it shouted, then scrambled up onto his shoulder, rubbing its furry cheek affectionately against his face.

"Sherwin, did Klee help out a lot again, meow?"

"That right, Klee the best!" Sherwin reached out and scratched the little Felyne chin, praising her sincerely.

"Ehehe~" Klee Meow giggled happily for a moment, then craned her head over Sherwin shoulder to look at the golden fruit in his hand.

With perfect synchronization, she asked, "So this is the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, meow? Didn't that long-eared guy stab his mouth when he ate it, meow?"

"Who knows?" Sherwin shrugged, shaking the Rumble-Rumble Fruit in his hand before glancing toward the other Felynes.

"Anyone wanna try and see if it actually stabs your mouth?"

Huamei Meow and Seijuro Meow, who had been longing for a Logia-type fruit, immediately came closer.

However, after hesitating for a moment, both of them decided to give the fruit to Haibara Meow and Purah Meow — the two Felynes whose combat power was the weakest among them.

"I'm not eating that! I hate thunder the most, meow!" Haibara Meow refused outright.

"Besides, a fruit this powerful should go to one of you fighters — it'd make a lot more sense, meow."

Purah Meow had the same thought. "You don't have to worry, meow! Haibara Meow and I have our own ways to boost our combat power and survival skills, meow! Check it!"

"They do have a point," Huamei Meow nodded, then looked at the other Felynes. "So, who do you think is the most suitable to eat this Fruit, meow?"

"How about Sanji Meow? He the best at lightning techniques, meow," Klee Meow suggested first.

However, the little yellow cat quickly shook his head. "No, I actually like swimming, meow. Besides, I'm a chef — I don't really need that much combat power, meow."

"I do wish to eat a Logia-type Fruit, but not for the sake of strength. Better let someone else have it," Seijuro Meow said humbly once again.

Link Meow also shook his head, showing that he didn't want to become a landlubber either.

Hmm, he was also one of the only two cats in the Investigation Team who didn't mind taking baths.

"I'm not that desperate for a Logia Fruit either, meow," Huamei Meow twitched her ears and looked at Sherwin.

"Why don't you eat it, Admiral? As for the Wirebugs, we can find another way to handle that, meow."

"Hold on," seeing that no one was eager to eat the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, Sherwin finally took out the Hunter Handbook.

"Maybe there another Felyne who more suited to eat this Fruit."

As he spoke, he flipped the handbook open to the page of the Devil Fruit Index.

Sure enough, just as he had expected, after a flash of white light, a voucher appeared between the pages — it was covered in blue lightning-shaped patterns, with a golden background...

It was real!

A new Felyne was about to arrive!
