Chapter 629 - 629 The Beasts Pirates Retreat

After saving Yamato, Sherwin did not rush back to the surface. Instead, he turned to ask Yamato, "You should know where your old man treasury or other similar places are, right?"

"Of course! I'll take you there right now!"

Yamato didn't feel the slightest bit of heartache selling out her own father. She quickly turned into a guide, leading Sherwin and the others back down to the second basement level.

"If we're talking about what that bastard old man values most, it should be here!"

After bringing Sherwin and the others to the edge of the second-floor warehouse, Yamato felt around on the wall for a few moments and then pushed open a very well-hidden stone door.

Following the stairs behind the stone door, Sherwin and the others arrived at a room filled with numerous pillars and beams, adorned with several thick shimenawa ropes.

Directly facing the entrance stairs was a massive Poneglyph...

Unfortunately, it wasn't a red one.

However, for Sherwin and Robin, whether it was a Road Poneglyph or not wasn't that important.

"This is a Poneglyph. It contains clues for reaching Laugh Tale. My bastard old man treasures it! Even the Tobiroppo aren't allowed to get near this place easily!"

Yamato pointed at the Poneglyph, speaking with excitement and pride. "But even if my stupid old man got his hands on a Poneglyph, it meaningless because normal people can't understand the text written on it at all. However, Lord Oden could understand it, because the ones who originally carved these characters were the Kozuki Clan!"

"Yeah, I know." Although Yamato desperately wanted to regain some face for "her hero," unfortunately, Sherwin remained completely unmoved.

He said to Yamato very calmly, "Furthermore, the Kozuki Clan aren't the only ones who can read the ancient text. I have a historian by my side who can read this as well."

As he spoke, he took out a camera and pressed the shutter several times at the Poneglyph in front of him.

"Eh?"

Sherwin nonchalant reaction was somewhat outside of Yamato expectations. After a brief moment of being stunned, she lead Sherwin toward the surface with a look of disappointment.

Soon, Yamato lead Sherwin and the others into a room on the second floor...

"Oh no! Because of Uncle Issho previous attack, that bastard father of mine moved all the treasure away!"

Yamato looked at the empty room and sighed in frustration, "Does that mean I can't get my 'Aken' back either?!"

It seemed that Yamato, this "mole," couldn't be relied upon it still had to be up to our Klee Meow! Sherwin didn't feel like wasting effort on a slow search, so he called for Yamato and Kaido Meow and returned outside.

"Brother Sherwin! You're out Meow!"

(=`=)

As soon as they stepped out of that giant skull, Klee Meow lunged forward immediately. After rubbing vigorously against Sherwin several times, the little Ragdoll skillfully climbed back to her "special seat" and habitually tugged at his ears a couple of times.

While Sherwin reached up to play with Klee Meow, he surveyed the battlefield...

The battle between Seijuro Meow and King was still ongoing. The slight change was that King helmet had been knocked off, revealing the signature white hair and brown skin of the Lunarian race.

On the other side, Jack in his hybrid mammoth form had already collapsed on the ground. Both sides of his mouth were covered in blood, and the tusks that accounted for more than half of his bounty had disappeared.

It was obvious that Suika Meow had been very bothered by her previous failure to snap off Jack tusks, and this time she had finally succeeded in fulfilling her promise.

However, although Jack had been defeated, Suika Meow had not finished him off.

It wasn't that the little tipsy cat was showing mercy it was mainly because the Tobiroppo and Lead Performers previously dispatched to the main island had already rushed back, saving Jack from Huamei Meow hands before he could be finished off.

At this moment, Huamei Meow was fighting fiercely against three dinosaur men, and from her posture, it seemed she had set her sights on the Triceratops horn again.

Meanwhile, the other three members of the Tobiroppo and those Lead Performers were locked in combat with Huamei Meow and Jinx.

However, what surprised Sherwin slightly was that due to the lack of Caesar SMILE fruits, several of those Lead Performers had actually eaten genuine Zoan Devil Fruits...

It made sense cultivating artificial Devil Fruits originally required genuine ones or the lineage factor of a Devil Fruit user as raw material. In the absence of SMILE fruits, Kaido would naturally reward his subordinates with the Zoan fruits he had collected.

Additionally, among the current Tobiroppo, there was no Navy undercover agent like X Drake. Replacing him—or rather, the person who would have originally been replaced by him—was also an Ancient Zoan Devil Fruit user.

Judging from the opponent transformed appearance, which bore a slight resemblance to a Xenomorph larva...

A Trilobite Fruit? No wonder they were eventually replaced by X Drake it felt like this Ancient Species was even inferior to some ordinary Zoans.

Even so, Sherwin was still very envious...

Even with the advantage of having read the manga and knowing the whereabouts of some Devil Fruits,

Sherwin had only managed to collect about a dozen of them by exploiting the World Government, tricking Doflamingo, and opening "blind boxes" with Hunter knives—even with a lucky star like Klee Meow helping him. Most of those fruit abilities were relatively mediocre.

In the Beast Pirates alone, there are eight Ancient Zoan Devil Fruit users, and counting Yamato, two Mythical Zoan users as well, not to mention other ordinary Zoan ability users. Considering that the number of Paramecia users in the BIG MOM Pirates is no less than the Zoans of the Beast Pirates...

So the reason it been so difficult for me to collect Devil Fruits is that most of them have already been snatched up by these veteran pirates, right?!

After venting his frustrations internally, Sherwin realized a bit late that something seemed to be missing from the battlefield...

"Hm? Where are your clones?"

Sherwin asked curiously, squeezing the paw pads of Klee Meow little hands.

"Big sister Jinx said she wanted to fight to her heart content and wouldn't let Klee help, meow."

(=`へ=)

The little Ragdoll cat pried at Sherwin palm, pouting unhappily as she answered, "Big sister Huamei wouldn't let Klee throw bombs either, so Klee just took all her clones back, meow! Hmph! Hmph hmph!"

Having developed a bit of a temper, Klee Meow started huffing like a little piglet. Her puffed-up cheeks were absolutely adorable.

Naturally, Sherwin agreed without hesitation. "Exactly, exactly! We don't care about them anyway. Let them deal with those minions and mini-bosses themselves. If we're going to fight, we'll fight a big boss like Kaido!"

"Hunter, didn't we agree that Kaido is mine, meow?"

(=ω=)

Hearing this, Kaido Meow, who was standing nearby, quickly tugged on Sherwin arm to remind him.

He had to speak up given Sherwin blatant doting on Klee Meow and his usual lack of integrity, if he didn't stand up and say something, Sherwin might actually "forget" the promise he had made previously.

"Look at you... acting like I would actually trick you!"

Sherwin was quite dissatisfied with the distrust shown by Kaido Meow, so he grabbed his large head and gave it a vigorous rub.

(ω)

Kaido Meow remained silent, merely continuing to stare at him with a suspicious gaze.

"Ahem, we can wait until after you and Kaido finish your fight before letting Klee step in. These two things don't conflict with each other."

While he doted on Klee Meow, Sherwin certainly wouldn't neglect the other cats he truly had no intention of going back on what he had previously promised Kaido Meow.

After hearing Sherwin explanation, Kaido Meow finally nodded in satisfaction and withdrew his somewhat rude gaze.

"Sherwin brother, those people are trying to escape meow."

(=ω=)

At that moment, Klee Meow suddenly tugged on his ear and pointed toward the battlefield ahead to remind him.

Sherwin turned to look and saw that King had stopped his entanglement with Hiko Seijuro, transforming into his beast-form Pteranodon and grabbing the unconscious Jack to fly off into the distance.

The other members of the Beasts Pirates were also using their various skills to flee toward the coast.

Sherwin drew the Longsword and intended to join Hiko Seijuro and the others in intercepting the group of pirates, but he was held back by Yamato.

"They have already retreated, so there no need to pursue them."

In the Beast Pirates, Yamato still had quite a few acquaintances. Siblings like Ulti and Page One could even be considered her childhood playmates.

Therefore, despite her distaste for the Beast Pirate actions, she still did not want to drive them to total extinction.

Furthermore, in Yamato straightforward mindset, as long as her father was defeated, the Beast Pirates would obediently withdraw from Wano, making it unnecessary to eliminate everyone else.

It could only be said that Yamato truly was someone who wished to inherit the name of Kozuki Oden her naive thinking was exactly the same as his.

Sherwin twitched the corner of his mouth and resentfully sheathed the Longsword...

There was no helping it. With Yamato interference, King and the members of the Tobi Roppo had long since fled far away. Only a few weaker and slower Headliners had been intercepted by the Felynes.

Regardless, Yamato thinking wasn't entirely wrong. Without defeating Kaido, killing any number of pirates beyond the Lead Performers held little significance with his strength, he could quickly gather a new batch of pirates and make a comeback.

Therefore, there was no need to waste too much time on these people. It was better to finish looting Onigashima early and then head to the main island to get his hands on those famous swords...

Sherwin, having failed to stop that group of pirates, could only comfort himself this way.

"Let go, Klee, we're going treasure hunting!"

"Oh—!"
