Synopsis
In a kingdom where nature no longer obeys, and monsters now bloom from the earth itself, one prince is called to find the only woman who might still understand the chaos to come. Eighteen years ago, Prince Dimiour was dragged to the edge of death—only to be saved by a girl with fire in her chest and fury in her bones. Now that girl is his fiercest knight, and his oldest friend. Together, they search for the missing Archmage of Nérou—Dimiour’s mentor, the last hope for a kingdom on the brink of unraveling. But something has changed in the wilds beyond the castle walls. Captain Thaddeus, the grizzled warhound who raised them, has vanished into the marshlands chasing whispers and scars. What he finds is worse than war: evolution gone rogue, fungal monsters that feed on the dead, and the terrifying truth that even the laws of magic are beginning to rot. As Dimiour and Rose follow the trail into a dying world, they must confront the legacies that made them—and decide whether loyalty is worth the cost of survival. Because in this world, the plants grow teeth… and they remember the taste of man.

Chapter 1 - Prologue:the creature codex

I didn't write this for me.

I wrote it because people die when they don't know what they're walking into.

Not just strangers. People I loved.

I'm tired of digging graves for the unprepared.

Everyone still acts like mana is our ally.

But I've seen what it does to people.

I've heard the screams. I've watched it melt the veins out of a man's body.

That's not power. That's roulette.

If you're compatible, you evolve.

If you're not, you die in agony.

So, us humans push harder.

We throw bodies at the problem and call it progress.

We carve ourselves into new shapes just to keep up.

And every time we fail, we lose something that doesn't grow back.

But the beasts?

They're not losing anything.

They're only gaining.

Some grew stronger.

Some grew smarter.

None stayed the same.

And humans? We're not the apex anymore.

Most of us are hiding in what's left of the old world.

Pretending our walls will hold.

Pretending compassion still has a place.

Nérou is one of those places.

But we chose compassion.

We chose to fight without becoming what we fear.

This Codex isn't a story.

It's a weapon made of information.

The world ended, it's time we come to terms with that.

This is how we survive the apocalypse,

Don't read this for hope.

Read it because you want to live.

— Dimiour of Nérou
