The first thing Noel feels upon waking is sheer, unadulterated embarrassment.
Before he even opens his eyes, he pictures crawling into a deep, dark hole and never coming out. He must have been out of his mind, acting like that, thinking those things….
The second thing he feels is an all-encompassing ache. As soon as it hits, an involuntary moan scrapes out of his throat.
"Awake?"
Peeling his swollen eyes open, Noel blinks through the gritty haze and turns his head, barely comprehending the sight of Jade sitting up beside him, leaning against the headboard, book in hand. Even the dim light from the bedside lamp feels like it's stabbing Noel's retinas.
Jade glances casually down at him. "Feeling pretty shitty, huh?"
Noel manages a garbled hum.
"I told you so," Jade says.
Swallowing, Noel takes a shaky breath before responding: "I always feel shitty after fucking you."
