Chapter 80 - Chapter 80: Deduction Enhancement, Diamond-Level Reward?

Within Robert's line of sight, above the Eerbo Tree—floating as if suspended upside down in the air—a line of shimmering text flashed before him:

"Successfully planting the Eerbo Tree will grant: Flight ability enhancement (Bronze Level), and extremely weak enhancement in Levitation Charm deduction (Black Iron Level)."

"Just planting it already gives a Bronze-level reward?" Robert's eyes gleamed with excitement.

Based on his prior experience, this meant that once the Eerbo Tree fully matured, it could potentially yield at least a Silver-level reward—on par with other rare magical plants like the Guardian Tree, Blood Emerald, and Mutated Piranha Algae. This would make it the fourth magical plant he had ever encountered capable of such a return.

The only mild regret Robert felt was that the tree's primary reward enhanced flight abilities, something not immediately relevant to him. For Quidditch players, this would be a highly sought-after gift. But for Robert, whose interests leaned more toward spell theory and magical deduction, it wasn't especially practical.

Then again, he reconsidered. Aerial combat held significant weight in the wizarding world. The battle that erupted on Harry Potter's coming-of-age day in the original timeline was fought entirely in the sky, showcasing its strategic importance.

"If something similar happens again… having strong flight capabilities wouldn't be a disadvantage," Robert thought.

His gaze shifted toward the secondary reward:

"Extremely weak enhancement to Levitation Charm deduction."

That sparked his curiosity. "Could this actually improve my ability to derive other spells from the Levitation Charm?"

He recalled a problem that had puzzled him for weeks. If the Eerbo Tree matured and elevated the reward to Bronze Level, could he finally overcome that roadblock?

But then he shook his head slightly.

"No… even at Bronze Level, it might still be too weak," he admitted. "If I were a natural-born Charms genius, even the slightest inspiration could help me crack the puzzle. But I'm not. This little boost won't be enough on its own."

Still, Robert felt fortunate. Just discovering another magical plant capable of offering Silver-Level rewards was rare. He wouldn't be greedy.

Just then, Professor Flitwick began explaining the Eerbo Tree's characteristics with pride.

"This magical plant is lighter than air. It doesn't root in the soil like ordinary plants—it roots in the clouds. The higher it roots, the stronger and healthier it becomes," Flitwick explained.

"Sir Eerbo, back in the day, flew thousands of meters high during a flying carpet accident. That's when he first spotted the Eerbo Tree hidden in the clouds."

"And it was from that experience," Flitwick continued, "that he created the Levitation Charm."

Professor Flitwick then turned to the preserved Eerbo Tree.

"Don't worry," he said cheerfully. "Though this one hasn't rooted in the clouds yet, I've preserved it with special magic. It's still just a seedling, but this state can last a very long time. If someone is lucky enough to earn it, they could even pass it down to their descendants—"

The class laughed. But Robert's breath caught.

Right after Flitwick described the Eerbo Tree's cloud-rooting nature, another shimmering message appeared in the air:

"Due to the Eerbo Tree's special habits, the current reward reflects only its existing height." "As its rooting height increases, the reward level will also rise."

Robert's pupils shrank. He was stunned.

"That means… if I plant this tree higher and higher…"

"Then the rewards could increase from Silver to Gold… maybe even to Platinum or Diamond?"

His heart raced. This plant had the highest reward potential he'd ever seen in his more than ten years since transmigrating into the wizarding world. Its value was beyond imagination.

No wonder Professor Flitwick said it was nearly extinct.

If he could one day propagate the Eerbo Tree—through cuttings, grafting, or creating an entire forest—he would have an endless supply of top-tier magical resources.

He clenched his fists.

He had to obtain this Eerbo Tree.

Coincidentally, Malfoy was having similar thoughts.

This was a treasure for a Charms Master, something even Herbology experts had sought in vain. If he got his hands on it, even his father would be delighted.

"This could also be a symbol," Malfoy smirked inwardly. "A symbol of me crushing that upstart Robert today."

He was confident. He'd practiced the Levitation Charm multiple times the night before. Though still a bit rough, he was ready. As long as he performed normally, he would be the first to levitate an object in class.

The Eerbo Tree would be his.

Around the room, other young wizards also glanced eagerly at Flitwick, eyes full of anticipation.

Professor Flitwick smiled at the class and slowly said, "Let's see who can win the Eerbo Tree. Practice—begin!"

The second Flitwick gave the word, Malfoy smirked confidently and raised his wand.

He quickly ran through the key steps in his mind:

Pronunciation must be clear and strong.

The wrist should be relaxed.

The wand must draw a spiraling motion upward.

And finally—a sharp flick!

But at that very instant—

"Wingardium Leviosa!"

The clear and confident voice of Robert rang through the classroom.

Immediately, a desk floated into the air—gracefully, like a drifting feather.

A flicker of magical light passed through Robert's eyes. He waved his wand again.

Another desk rose into the air.

A Bronze-Level Levitation Charm—this was its feature. After one cast, multiple objects could be lifted consecutively in a short time.

All this happened within one second of Flitwick's call to begin.

Everyone stared in disbelief.

Malfoy froze.

"What did I just see?"

"How can Robert cast Levitation Charms this easily?! And float two desks?!"

"How much did he practice in secret? Why is he so good?!"

Even Professor Flitwick was momentarily stunned.

"Ah—this—"

Then he recovered, smiling broadly.

"That's it! The competition is over!"

"I don't think anyone's performance surpasses Robert's. What a splendid Levitation Charm!"

"Hufflepuff—five points!"

The classroom exploded with cheers from the Hufflepuff students.

Hannah, Susan, and others were flushed with joy, taunting Malfoy mercilessly.

"Didn't someone say a Giant bloodline can't learn the Levitation Charm?"

"Well, Robert just cast the best one in class!"

"What do you have to say now?!"

Malfoy's face turned from pale to green. He stood frozen, humiliated.

Meanwhile, Robert had eyes only for the Eerbo Tree.

Nothing else mattered.

He walked calmly to the podium and accepted the bottle containing the seedling from Professor Flitwick.

The professor's expression was full of pride.

"Merlin! Pomona's been pestering me about this for years," he chuckled. "Now she'll be thrilled. She'll be proud of you, Robert. Keep up the good work."

Robert felt a warmth rise in his chest. He suspected this entire demonstration had been prepared just for him—just like the Lumos test reward earlier in the year.

He bowed deeply. "Thank you, Professor."

Professor Flitwick, a bit flustered, chuckled and stroked his beard. "Oh, and Robert—your Levitation Charm was beautiful… but it still has a few minor flaws."

Robert immediately focused.

He wasn't about to waste the opportunity to learn from a Charms Master.

Flitwick's guidance was concise and precise, cutting straight to the core of his technique.

On Robert's system panel, the formerly hazy Bronze-level glow of the Levitation Charm became significantly more solid.

Then, Robert took the chance to ask about some of the problems he had encountered while studying Half-Blood Prince's notes.

Professor Flitwick was taken aback.

"This boy… he's already delving into such advanced magical concepts?"

"His growth since the beginning of the year is astounding. Even Hermione Granger can't compare to this level of magical understanding."

Overjoyed, Flitwick dove into a deep discussion with Robert.

The other students were utterly confused.

Every word made sense on its own—but put together, they felt like they were hearing ancient runes.

Hannah gasped.

"Merlin—if Robert's a Giant, then we're Trolls. He's in a league of his own!"

Malfoy felt as if he'd been slapped. He couldn't take it.

He—a pure-blood noble—was being left in the dust by Robert?

He didn't even understand what Robert was talking about anymore.

Thankfully, the bell rang, ending the lesson.

Professor Flitwick looked slightly disappointed.

"Robert, if you have more questions, feel free to visit me in my office anytime."

Robert nodded gratefully. This brief exchange had helped him resolve most of his questions.

Even the shimmering lights on his other improved spells grew more solid.

He admired Flitwick even more deeply now.

A real teacher—someone who truly guides students and shares wisdom.

Not like the so-called "mentors" from his past life who only made students run errands and do grunt work.

Holding the Eerbo Tree tightly, Robert stepped out of the classroom.

His heart was pounding with excitement.

He looked up toward the endless sky.

"If I plant it ten thousand meters high…"

"Could I… possibly unlock a Diamond-Level reward?"
