He had arrived on the battlefield a bit late and hadn't seen the Jinchuriki break his own seal to release the beast. He knew Kiri's plan involved their Jinchuriki, not the Tailed Beast itself. Kokuō came to the same conclusion. "Keisuke, that should be Isobu, not a Jinchuriki." It then asked the question that was really on its mind. "What do you plan to do with him?"
The time it had spent with Keisuke had been the most comfortable of the last few decades. But now, another Tailed Beast had appeared. In terms of overall strength, Kokuō wasn't sure it could beat Isobu, especially not in a water-heavy environment. Besides the exceptional Kurama, the other eight Tailed Beasts were all roughly on the same level. With Keisuke now having captured the Three-Tails, Kokuō was suddenly a little worried about its... family status.
"That is a problem..." Keisuke frowned, sitting on Kokuō's head. "If I just release it, it's the same as handing it back to Kiri. But... I really have no interest in the Three-Tails."

He suspected that half the Seven Swordsmen were just filling a quota. The only two worth keeping were Hiramekarei, which could shoot "sword qi," and Samehada.
He had the clones seal all of them away in his Large Sealing Scroll, leaving only Samehada out. The blade was in a pathetic state, looking like a burnt door plank. He picked it up.

He pressed the mask against the blade. Samehada, sensing a meal delivered right to its mouth, immediately began to do what it did best: eat. It rapidly devoured the chakra from the mask.
But the instant the dark red, magma-like chakra entered its "mouth"...
"SCREEEEEEEEE—"
Samehada let out a piercing shriek of pure agony. The sharp scales all over its body stood on end, and the previously limp sword was suddenly writhing with energy. A glob of molten hot lava sizzled on its skin.
Keisuke pulled the Lava Release Mask away with a look of pity. "Alas. It seems you don't like your chakra spicy."
