It shrieked again and shot forward like a gale, swiping at him with its massive claws. "Cat Claw!"
"How troublesome..." "Nara-Raikage" sighed. His Lightning Armor flared to life, and he vanished, moving so fast he was impossible to track. Matatabi's claw slammed into the ground, carving a huge, paw-shaped crater.
"I won't say it a second time," his voice came from a new location. "Nibi, if you—hm? The main event has arrived."
Main... event? Matatabi thought, confused. In the next second, a new, unfamiliar chakra signature appeared in its senses.
Flying Thunder God Technique!
Nara Keisuke's real body appeared in the gorge. He glanced at his clone, then at the giant, angry blue cat. "A pleasure to meet you," he said, giving the Tailed Beast a polite nod. "Matatabi."
The cat was stunned. This human's politeness almost shattered its psychological defenses. In this dark, cruel world, so few had ever treated it with anything other than fear. To be called by its real name... it was a rare memory.
"Who... are you?" its aggression faded, replaced by wary confusion. "How do you know my name?"
"Kokuō told me all the Tailed Beasts' names. Isobu's, too," Keisuke said, casually brushing off the question. "Matatabi, I've come here today to take you away."
What is going on? Matatabi's head was spinning. And why is A... just watching?! It had the subconscious urge to lift its paw and lick it to clear its head, but realized how inappropriate that would be.
Keisuke, seeing the "lucky cat" pose, mistook it for a gesture and gave a little wave back. "Is that your special way of saying you agree?"
"No—" Matatabi snapped, embarrassed. "Why would I go with you?"
"Hm, perhaps I misphrased. Let me correct myself," Keisuke said. "My plan is to seal you into a new Jinchuriki... and then take you both from Kumogakure."
Matatabi's confusion vanished, replaced by a cold calm. "You also want to seal me?"
"I have to," Keisuke shrugged. "I already have Kokuō."
What does the Five-Tails have to do with this?! Matatabi began gathering its chakra again. It didn't know what was going on, but if this new human wanted to seal it... then so be it.
"Fire Rat Ball!"
It spat a massive, bright blue fireball from its mouth, the core of it shaped like a scuttling rat. The ball of fire shrieked through the air, but Keisuke, his body flaring with golden light from his Yang Release Chakra Mode, easily dodged to the side.
But the attack wasn't that simple. The fireball, as if it had eyes, changed direction in mid-air and continued to chase him. A tracking attack. 'Heat-seeking?' Keisuke mused, dodging again. This time, the fireball exploded, splitting into a dozen smaller, homing projectiles.
At that moment, a new mission notification appeared.
