Chapter 222 - Chapter 217: Can You Turn the Tables, Old Blue?

The Grand Speaker's weathered face was so dark with rage that it seemed water might drip from it—not tears, but pure condensed fury.

"How did that creature escape unharmed?!" he roared at the assembled speakers.

They had thrown everything at the intruder—Luther's [Flying Zombie]. Overwhelming magical attacks that should have reduced any living thing to ash. Most had bounced off harmlessly. Only the speakers' own attacks had even slowed him, and his wounds were healing before their eyes.

"Grand Speaker," Pyrro wheezed, still recovering from magical backlash. "This confirms it—there's definitely an ambush waiting outside."

"We cannot delay," the Grand Speaker declared. "Every moment we hesitate, they grow stronger. Who leads the vanguard?"

Deafening silence. Nobody wanted to be first through that portal.

"Pyrro. Saville. Klaus. You three will each command a legion."

"Yes, Grand Speaker," they replied reluctantly.

Russell examined his accumulated materials one final time:

[Cold-blooded Deceiver] (Gold/Red) - from the Society, representing Kyoka Suigetsu

[Spellcaster Priest] (Gold/Green) - from the demon battle, representing kidō

[Soul of Full Spirit] (Gold/Red) - just purchased with 14,900 points

"Broke again," he sighed, seeing his remaining 520 points. "But this should be worth it."

He spread the three materials on his desk and picked up a blank card. With careful strokes, he began sketching—brown hair, neat and unassuming. Black-rimmed glasses. A gentle, helpful smile that had fooled all of Soul Society for a century.

But Russell added subtle touches—shadows beneath the surface charm, a glint behind the glasses suggesting calculation.

[My name is Aizen Sosuke, and I was born a genius.][This is not arrogance, but irrefutable fact.]

Russell wrote carefully about Aizen's history in Soul Society. His disappointment with mediocrity. The search for equals that always ended in failure. Meeting Captain Tsugikuni Yoriichi and finding even the legendary genius wanting.

[What I seek exists beyond the limits of death gods.]

He detailed the experiments—hundreds of souls condensed into incomplete Hogyoku. The manipulation of Central 46. The hollowfication experiments on Hirako and the others.

[My Kyoka Suigetsu is not the water-type zanpakuto I claim.][It is complete hypnosis. Control of all five senses.][Once you've seen its release, you are mine forever.]

Russell wrote about Gin and Tōsen joining as "subordinates"—really just chess pieces. Framing Urahara. The slow corruption of Soul Society from within.

[One day, I will stand in heaven.]

As he tried to write about Aizen becoming Lord of Hueco Mundo, the card resisted. The space itself rejected further development.

"Already at the limit?" Russell pulled back. "Gold rank can only handle so much."

The card pulsed once

Russell placed the completed card into his mind space and immediately checked its information:

[Vice Captain of the Fifth Division • Sosuke Aizen]

Level: Gold

Quality: Red

Category: Creature

Skills:

[Kidō Mastery]: Can use all kidō arts. Power maintained even without incantation.

[Zanpakutō - Shikai - Kyoka Suigetsu]: Complete hypnosis controlling all five senses. Makes opponents believe whatever the user desires.

[Massive Spiritual Pressure]: The battle between death gods is a battle of spiritual pressure. Can suppress weaker beings through presence alone.

Characteristics:

[Hair Gel Hand]: Can perfectly style hair with right hand when needed

[Natural Inventor]: Intelligence occasionally produces useful item cards

[Perfect Disguise]: True power completely hidden unless revealed

[Battle of Spiritual Pressure]: As a genius, Aizen's spiritual pressure is enormous. Kidō power greatly enhanced.

Introduction:Gods are merely humans skilled at pretense

Evolution Path:

Gold [Vice Captain Aizen] → Emerald [Lord of Hueco Mundo Aizen] → Diamond [Throne of Heaven Aizen]

Note: Diamond evolution requires item card [Perfect Hogyoku]

Bonds:

With [Gin Ichimaru] series: [Traitor? Traitor!]

With [Captain Yoriichi] series: [Fifth Division United]

"This intensity..." Russell's eyes widened as he read through the abilities. The combination of complete hypnosis, massive spiritual pressure, and kidō mastery made Aizen terrifyingly powerful even at Gold rank.

But what really caught his attention was the quality indicator.

"Wait... is this colored?"

The red quality marker wasn't like his previous cards. Instead of solid red, it shimmered with iridescent light—rainbow colors dancing across the surface like oil on water.

"Not fully Colored, but..." Russell studied it carefully. "Somewhere between Red and Colored?"

He thought about what made this card different from his others. The most obvious distinction: the evolution path explicitly reached Palace rank with [God • Shiraori]. His other cards had never shown such a clear ceiling.

"So Colored quality is exclusive to Palace rank?" Russell realized. "That's why there's no public information about it. No Palace-rank cardmaker would reveal this."

The card wasn't quite at Colored quality—it was Red (Iridescent), a transitional state showing its Palace potential.

"Well then," Russell said, "let's see how you perform."

He summoned his newest creation. Aizen appeared in his black shihakusho, the perfect picture of a helpful vice-captain. Brown hair neat, glasses reflecting the light, that infamous gentle smile in place.

"Russell-kun," Aizen greeted with a slight bow. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you properly. Shall we begin our work?"

Russell studied him carefully. "Drop the act when we're alone."

Aizen's smile shifted subtly—still pleasant, but now carrying an edge. "As you wish. Though I should mention, the act has become rather comfortable after a century of practice."

"Can you do the hair thing?" Russell asked, trying to slick back his own hair. Without the technique, black strands just fell messily through his fingers.

Aizen sighed, adjusting his glasses. "Really? That's your first question?"

"Just checking if the characteristics work."

"They do." Aizen ran his right hand through his hair, and it instantly slicked back perfectly, completely changing his appearance from kind teacher to dangerous villain. Another pass returned it to its gentle state. "Satisfied?"

"Very. Now, we have a secret realm crisis to handle."

Before they could leave, the doorbell rang unexpectedly.

Russell opened it to find—"Senior Sister?!"

Hazel stood there, her expression unreadable as always. "Not far," she said simply.

"That was fast!" Russell exclaimed, then noticed her scanning him for injuries.

"What happened?" she asked, finding him unharmed.

"New Gold-level secret realm in a residential area," Russell explained, leading her inside. "I've just created a new card to handle it, but I wanted you here as insurance."

Hazel nodded, settling in with a book while Russell gathered his things.

Russell arrived at the fortifications with both Aizen and Hazel. Luther and Zayne were waiting anxiously.

"President Russell—" Luther began, then froze upon seeing Hazel.

"This is my senior sister, Hazel," Russell introduced. "Diamond-rank cardmaker."

Luther's jaw dropped. "Diamond rank?! Master Hazel, we're honored—"

Hazel nodded minimally, already returning to her book.

"So Master Hazel will handle the realm?" Luther asked hopefully.

"My new card will attempt it first," Russell interjected, gesturing to Aizen. "Senior Sister is our insurance."

Both directors examined the ordinary-looking man with glasses. Brown hair, gentle smile, helpful demeanor—he looked like he should be teaching literature, not fighting demons.

"This is your solution?" Luther couldn't hide his doubt.

Aizen smiled warmly. "Please don't judge by appearances. I'm quite capable when necessary."

Something about that gentle tone made both directors unconsciously step back.

"Shall we?" Russell asked.

They approached the portal where demonic forces were massing. The massive spatial crack pulsed with malevolent energy.

Luther checked his instruments. "Energy readings suggest massive forces on the other side. Could be tens of thousands."

"Quantity is just a number," Aizen said pleasantly, adjusting his glasses. "Shall we begin?"
