Chapter 317 - Arranged Marriage

Alright, now Enrico was caught by surprise. He saw that she was interested in him for something, and it must be to pass the test that will determine if she is worthy of becoming the next queen of Sanos, especially now that she lost Deymon's magic.

'Deymon, with corruption magic, could break through the barrier of light more easily than other magics that have a similar characteristic.'

Since she lost him, it would make sense for her to go after someone who knows the future, thus having another way to break that barrier more easily. Even so, why an arranged marriage? It would be better for them to try to recruit him to Sanos like they did with Hao.

'If both Alaric and Elowyn have the same thought about marriage, they intend to use me for more than just getting information.'

[If you see through their eyes, besides having information, you are a prodigy on the same level as Victoria and also Kai.]

'You're right, it seems the mages of Sanos who noticed our evolution to the sixth circle are giving us a title that is already spreading through Sanos.'

The three who ascended to the third circle today received the title of "the three aberrations of this era." That title was something big, and of course, they hadn't reached their peak—this was just a title for the three greatest prodigies in history born in this era.

'Prodigy? I'm not exactly a prodigy, but I accept the title.'

He was quite satisfied with that title, so there was nothing to complain about. The only thing he could complain about at that moment was that Taíra wouldn't let go of him even as he stood in front of the king of Sanos' door.

"It's very good to have the Solcren Ferreira family here, our king asked for you to enter."

"Alright."

Enrico waved to the guard at the door. Taíra, who wouldn't get off him and was now on his back, stuck her tongue out at the guard in a hidden way so he wouldn't notice.

"Brother, you have to refuse."

King Alaric was sitting on the throne with two mages on each side, while Elowyn sat at a table with Narisse, straight-backed, so both whispered before approaching.

"Refusing the king is asking for my head to be cut off."

"But Brother, you already have some wives, that's enough. If you keep going like this, when will you have time to train me?"

It seemed his little sister was now jealous. It looked like he would have to calm her down to have a peaceful discussion with the king, though he doubted she would interrupt.

"Taíra, I will always have time for you when I'm around."

"You promi—"

"Enrico, it's very good to have you back."

Taíra became annoyed at being interrupted by the king but said nothing—her father had told her to respect the king's words when at or near the castle. Alaric had noticed they were talking, so he decided to give them time until they were in front of him, but he had to interrupt because he also wanted to speak.

"It's good to see you too, King Alaric."

Moving his eyes to the two mages, Enrico noticed they were the former third-year teachers. One was always lazy wearing his usual clothes, while the other always had a serious and resolute expression.

'Professor Blue Nortem and Kanino Blauver, two extremely strong eighth-circle mages.'

Both must have ascended to the eighth circle in these two years, just like in the original story. It seemed this part stayed the same, except for the level Siena reached.

"By your sister's expression, she must have already told you about the marriage with my daughter."

Taíra hid a little behind Enrico, still watching Alaric with some displeasure, trying at least to pretend she didn't care. Enrico looked at Elowyn, who raised her hand and waved her fingers; her smile was quite arrogant.

"Yes, I heard, and to be honest, I didn't think you would go this far with me. Are you sure your daughter wants—"

"Of course I want it, you'll be very useful."

Both Taíra and Enrico looked at Elowyn with some displeasure—Enrico because he still held a bit of resentment since she hurt his classmates and because of her personality, and Taíra because she hated hearing someone talk about using her brother.

'How irritating.'

"Daughter, don't speak like that, you'll upset my son-in-law."

"He will be my consort, so he has to know about my personality, right?"

Enrico and Taíra's expressions grew even more unpleasant, while the two mages beside them almost let an incredulous expression slip.

'This damn princess seems to want to order me around. If I could fight her, I would—just a little.'

[Calm down, Enrico, she's really irritating, but you can't do that with King Alaric. He doesn't deserve it.]

'What he doesn't deserve is having a daughter like this… well, if I can't fight her—'

Looking her directly in the eyes, he challenged her with sparks. Elowyn noticed it and returned the glare, and lightning passed between them. Seeing his future son-in-law and daughter like that, Alaric sighed—seemed he would have to work hard to bring those two together.

"So, Enrico, I really would like you to join the family, since your potential would help greatly. I promise I won't force anything on you, so I will ask… do you accept?"

"I accept this challenge."

"I know it's difficult—… do you accept?"

"Brother, why?"

Surprised, he saw his daughter smiling like she was launching a challenge at an opponent, and Enrico doing the same. Narisse dropped the water from her cup as she tried to drink.

'Don't tell me those two—'

From the energy in the air, it was clear they were about to have a war, but not a bloody one. They would fight to see who would command that relationship, which had now become complicated. Alaric, seeing this, wasn't as incredulous as the others—in fact, he was quite happy with how easy it was to bring those two together.

"I'm very happy both of you accepted this. I hope you get along well from now on."

They both turned to Alaric, nodding. They might not like each other much now, but they would use this to their advantage. Just as Elowyn intended to use Enrico to strengthen Sanos, Enrico intended to use Sanos' power for his own benefit.

"Wait, Lord Alaric, don't tell me you called me just for this?"

"Yes, I just wanted to confirm that you would accept the proposal."

"…I see."

He thought they would discuss the future, but apparently for now, the king was satisfied.

'And Taíra is here too, so I doubt he wants to reveal anything right now.'

His little sister was pouting—later he would have to spend time with her. Thinking about it, after this, he would also have to talk to the girls.

'Wait, now that I think about it, they already seemed to know—if I think about their expressions when I mentioned seeing the king, and Taíra's reaction…'

[…it seems the Solcren Ferreira family has already accepted.]

'Bastards.'
