Chapter 258 - A Divine Battle?

Upon seeing the mass of fog shrouding Nous's projection, Lucian couldn't help but sigh in relief.

Clearly, thanks to the Law of Calamity, he did not need to lift a finger, as Nous had already been dealt with by another Aeon.

When Nous attempted to calculate him, that very attempt itself counted as a form of harm or ill intent, and so, since the act of calculating him inherently carried intent that was unfavorable toward him, the Law of Calamity was triggered.

So what if THEY were an Aeon?

Evidently, an Aeon could also trigger the Law of Calamity.

Given that his other conceptual abilities, like Disarm and Immortal Kneel, could affect Nous, Lucian had assumed that the Law of Calamity could probably also affect THEM, which was precisely why he had remained completely unafraid.

With BGM's invincibility combined with the Law of Calamity's damage reflection, he did not need to do anything at all.

In the end, as expected, Nous had played THEMSELF into a corner.

He had only been worried about one thing.

Would this trigger the 'War Among the Aeons' ahead of schedule?

"Hey, Lucian, what exactly is going on here? Why did Mythus suddenly come and attack Droidhead?"

Herta could not figure it out, no matter how much she thought about it.

Screwllum was just as baffled.

Why had Nous suddenly insisted on going so far as to use galaxy-level computational power to just calculate Lucian?

And why, out of nowhere, had Nous been elbowed by the Aeon of Enigmata, Mythus?

Anyone knowledgeable enough could see that such mysterious and bizarre fog, capable of interfering with Nous's calculations, could only belong to Mythus, the Aeon of Enigmata. Especially Emanators like Lucian or Herta, whose senses were heightened far beyond those of mortals, could clearly sense the dense power of Enigmata permeating the fog.

"I figured out this ability while soaking my feet earlier. If someone has ill intentions toward me, they're gonna have a bad time," Lucian explained casually, a faint smile adorning his face. "Herta, you'd better be careful, too. Don't start thinking anything nasty about me."

"Oh, c'mon, gimme a break. You really think I'd buy that?" Herta scoffed, looking utterly unconvinced. "With an ability this absurd, why haven't you ascended into some kinda perverted Aeon already, then?"

Even though she said this, she felt a little uneasy deep down.

It couldn't be helped.

Lucian had, after all, previously demonstrated the absurd ability to cleave through an Aeon's projection with ease. Now that he had shown another absurd ability on top of that, his claim somehow sounded plausible.

"So... how many other absurd abilities do you have?"

Herta clicked her tongue but could not help pressing the question.

"Why would I tell you my trump cards?" Lucian asked back, raising his brows. "I'm sorry, but what are you to me?"

Hearing this, Herta paused for a moment, then let out a soft snort.

"Hmph, I'm nobody to you. Fine, don't tell me. I don't care. You'd better never tell me!"

Just like that, Herta stopped paying attention to Lucian and turned her gaze back toward Nous, who was still shrouded and was actively being interfered with by the fog of Mythus.

Under everyone's gaze, the chaotic, indescribable fog moved slowly at first, but soon, to their surprise, it suddenly surged upstream along the invisible analytical link, then slammed violently into Nous's projection.

*BOOOM!*

A soundless explosion instantly detonated in space, releasing a massive shockwave and a chaotic gravitational pull.

Tens of thousands of people on the space station, who witnessed this world-shaking chaos unfold at such close range, were immediately thrown into commotion.

"Our ancestors must be watching over us! I actually got to see Aeons fighting each other!"

"But where's the other Aeon fighting Nous? Why can't I see THEM?"

"An Aeon that won't even let us see THEM—how's that supposed to be a good Aeon?"

"From my understanding, that fog should belong to Mythus the Enigmata."

"Hey, look, the fog's gone! Nous won!"

"No, something's kinda off... Nous's projection looks a little faint. Feels like that's not a full win."

As the researchers on the space station discussed the battle heatedly, Nous's projection remained entangled with the fog for quite some time, until the fog was completely cleansed by the power of Erudition, causing the power of Enigmata that filled the surrounding space to be wiped away in the process as well.

Truth be told, let alone Herta and the others, even Nous THEMSELF felt somewhat confused as to why Mythus had suddenly attacked THEM.

Not early, not late—why did Mythus interfere precisely when THEY began calculating that mysterious human?

No matter how THEY thought about it, Nous could only arrive at one hypothesis: the human was actually being shielded by Mythus, which was why he could not be calculated.

If that were the case, what kind of secret was important enough for Mythus to protect the human so strongly?

Nous couldn't help but grow more and more curious.

Just like that, Mythus the Enigmata, who was, at the moment, still spreading THEIR fog everywhere as part of THEIR routine, was entirely unaware that THEY had just elbowed Nous the Erudition.

As a result, Nous believed that Mythus stood behind Lucian, protecting him, simply because among the Aeons, Mythus was known to be the only Aeon who would always be able to interfere with Nous's calculations.

When everything returned to calm, Nous's enormous mechanical head gazed deeply at Lucian one last time—THEIR gaze was pure to the extreme, filled with nothing but a desire to know his secrets.

In the next second, however, the vast energy of Erudition vanished completely, and Nous's projection, along with the polluted and twisted space, disappeared as if it had never existed.

"See? Told you THEY couldn't do anything to me. I didn't need to run," Lucian said with a shrug, wearing a trace of smug satisfaction. "Honestly, if THEY had stuck around any longer, I would've just cleaved THEIR projection again."

He couldn't help but feel a little smug, since this was the first time he had faced Nous head-on without using a script to escape.

Herta had nothing to say, since the facts were right there before her eyes, so she could not even argue out of sheer stubbornness.

"Yeah, yeah, you're amazing," Herta said, rolling her eyes. "So, when are you gonna make Droidhead answer my questions?"

Honestly, she felt helpless.

Using Screwllum, a great ruler of many mechanical lives, as bait this time had also failed, not even managing to make Nous spare a single glance.

"Maybe one day I'll wake up from a nap and suddenly be able to make Nous compromise. Who knows?"

Lucian smiled faintly, speaking half-jokingly and half-seriously.

Of course, it was just a joke for now.

If he ever obtained a related conceptual ability, it would not be a joke anymore.

"What a breathtaking spectacle. I have benefited greatly in this lifetime..." Screwllum said with emotion. "To witness the clash of two Aeons with my own eyes is truly memorable."

He intended to upload all the recorded footage to his planet, Planet Screwllum, for a global broadcast.

"Right, everyone in the space station must've recorded it too. I should probably get a copy for myself, then snag another title as 'the Witness to a Divine Battle.'"

Right after saying this, Herta hurried off to find Asta to collect the recordings of Nous's clash with Mythus.

"A divine battle? Mythus just tossed out some fog at Nous's projection. You call that a divine battle?"

Lucian remarked toward Herta's disappearing figure, then found a sofa and sat down on it, planning to stay on the space station for a while.

In the Master Control Zone, Herta soon found Asta and immediately had her collect all the pictures, videos, and audio recordings taken by everyone.

Nous's arrival was something everyone already knew about, but that part was not important, since what mattered was that Nous had actually been ambushed by the Aeon of Enigmata, Mythus—an event rarely seen in a thousand years.

"Madam Herta, was what happened just now something you and Mr. Lucian did? Bringing two Aeons here..."

Asta asked curiously, looking a little helpless.

"Who else could it be?" Herta responded, patting Asta on the shoulder with pride. "Besides me... and Lucian, who else could pull off something this big?"

It truly was big, far beyond what mortals could comprehend.

Soon enough, news of the Aeon of Erudition clashing with the Aeon of Enigmata would spread throughout the cosmos, and Herta Space Station would surely see another surge of visitors.

"Madam Herta, what does Mr. Lucian plan to do now?" Asta asked again, her eyes sparkling slightly. "Do you need me to arrange anything in advance?"

"Do whatever you like," Herta replied casually, not paying much attention. "Send him some good food and drinks, clean up his room, that sort of thing. Use your judgment. I've got more important things to deal with."

Indeed, she would be busy editing videos, making sure she captured her own highlight moments, such as watching the battle between Nouse and Mythus up close, so she didn't have time to entertain Lucian.

"Understood. I'll handle it personally."

Asta accepted the task without hesitation, largely because she also wanted to see Lucian's peerless looks again.

Lucian's appearance—any woman who claimed she did not like it or did not want to look was definitely lying.

===

At the same time, Lucian, bored, ultimately made his way to the residential area of the space station with practiced ease—his goal being the same room where he met Asta for the first time.

"In a sense, I really do live everywhere, huh..."

Lucian mocked himself as he came to realize that he now had a place to stay wherever he went.

It was honestly not a bad thing.

Before transmigrating, he could only afford a single apartment, and now, after transmigrating, his properties were basically everywhere.

Soon, when Lucian entered the familiar room, he saw that it was still as spotless and tidy as before. It was obvious that even when he had not stayed there, someone had been assigned to clean it regularly.

Lucian immediately lay down on the bed, then closed his eyes in contentment.

Given that there was nothing urgent to deal with right now, he decided to work on the new script first.

"System, activate the script."
