The Pillar of the Present World, although a passage connecting the First and Second Layer of the Abyss, is ultimately situated in the middle layer and not truly the Abyss Second Layer. It can only support Player Levels to a certain limit.
The entry limit is Level forty-five.
Players exceeding Level forty-five, even if possessing a pass, would be rejected by the Pillar of the Present World. They must undergo a cumbersome ritual to reinforce the pillar before it's possible to pass through.
For those present, players at Level forty-five haven't even begun to touch divinity, and they'd be considered inadequate as subordinates.
Yet, such a character has managed to injure them from a distance, and it was Mercury, who ranks among the top ten of their group.
The absurdity of this event is not unlike encountering a borderline out-of-control B-Level dungeon in a trial dungeon.
