"I found out about this from my teacher, I was lucky enough to be in his light," Chen Wenhao replied.
Chen Yuan nodded in realization.
Chen Wenhao's teacher was a top figure in the domestic biological field, part of the elite in the industry, with access to channels for obtaining information.
Wenhao paused for a moment, speaking in a complicated tone, "I've already sent the Basic Meditation Method to your email; make sure to check it."
"Just sending it like that, is it okay?" Chen Yuan hesitated a bit.
"No problem, I got my teacher's permission to tell these things to family," Chen Wenhao smiled.
He paused and continued, "Moreover, the authorities will gradually make this information public, including the Basic Meditation Method."
Chen Yuan frowned, "I feel like you're hiding something from me."
He had grown up with Chen Wenhao and could tell at a glance if the latter was lying.
Chen Wenhao was silent for a moment, then smiled wryly, "Brother, you always see through me."
"Actually, it's because I have a bit of talent in the Beastmaster field, and the authorities noticed me. They want me to join a newly formed institution."
"I didn't refuse, and I couldn't refuse."
"The good thing is that joining the institution has many benefits, one of which is allowing family and friends to receive the Meditation Methods early."
"In the coming period, I might be very busy, and sometimes you might not be able to reach me..."
"Is it dangerous?" Chen Yuan interrupted.
Chen Wenhao responded decisively, "This period is focused on learning, there's no danger."
"Alright, stay safe," Chen Yuan said in a somber tone.
...
Hanging up the phone silently, the slim Chen Wenhao put his phone back in his pocket, adjusted his glasses, and looked up at the white-haired old man sitting in front of him, "Teacher, I'm ready."
"Good," the old man nodded first, then smiled helplessly, "There's actually no need to be so nervous."
"They're just organizing you talents who succeeded in awakening during your first Meditation, allowing you to delve deeper into knowledge related to Beast Taming, to better cope with this world of drastic change."
"You won't be assigned dangerous tasks before your studies are completed."
A stiff smile appeared on Chen Wenhao's face, and he hesitated, "Teacher, I understand all of this, but..."
"You're worried about your brother and grandfather, aren't you?" The old man laughed and said, "Don't worry, the faster you progress, the more attention you'll receive, and your family will only be safer."
"You have only one task now—"
"Study hard, and strive to become a powerful Beastmaster as soon as possible."
...
After hanging up the phone, Chen Yuan exhaled softly and sat in place, dazed for a long time.
Until the midday sunlight slanted into the house, permeating the air with brilliant golden particles, he clicked into his email and promptly saw the email from Chen Wenhao—"Basic Meditation Method 1.0."
The email contained both video and text; Chen Yuan watched it seriously several times, then glanced at Cola, who was snoring on the floor, and the Flame Cloud Falcon, which was quiet in its iron cage, deciding to give it a try.
With the revival of Spiritual Energy, and changes in the world, the emergence of Extraordinary Creatures will surely impact the current social order.
How humans coexist with these Extraordinary Creatures, how to face this changing world, will be the social focus in the days to come.
Awakening as a Beastmaster, contracting Pet Beasts, using their Extraordinary Powers, was evidently the optimal solution for now.
Despite Chen Yuan wanting just to be an ordinary shelter worker, having three meals a day, good sleep, raising a few dogs, and strolling in the mountains now and then.
But ordinary people obviously had difficulty protecting themselves in this changing world.
A thought flitted through his mind as Chen Yuan gently closed the door, sat cross-legged on the office sofa, and began trying as shown by the middle-aged man in the video for the first time.
Due to the unique nature of his work, the management at the shelter was relatively relaxed, usually requiring only one person to stay in the office.
He gently closed his eyes, took a deep breath, trying to clear his mind of distractions, and achieved quietness and concentration.
Soon, he fell into a mystical state of Meditation, as if transformed into a free-spirited little bird, soaring delightfully in the blue sky, weaving through soft clouds.
Weightless, free.
At the same time, the jade pendant hanging from his chest emitted a faint glow.
He didn't know how much time had passed,
but Chen Yuan's consciousness gradually became clear, and he could noticeably perceive a significant increase in his Spiritual Power.
His thoughts were more fluid, and his mind sharper.
"That's it?"
"So simple?"
Chen Yuan opened his eyes, exhaled a breath of impure air, and his eyes and brows were full of joy.
At this moment, he could clearly sense his Spiritual Power connecting to an indescribable Alternate Space, right there in his mind.
This was the Beast Taming Space described in "Basic Meditation Method 1.0," where the Contracted Pet Beast could stay, allowing for faster growth.
In Chen Yuan's perception, the Beast Taming Space was a gray, hazy space, roughly the size of a small room.
"Now I am considered a Beastmaster, though one of the weakest," Chen Yuan muttered to himself.
Successfully awakening the Beast Taming Space allowed one to contract a Pet Beast, becoming the lowest-grade Beastmaster.
And as long as one continued to hone their Spiritual Power, they could expand their Beast Taming Space, contracting a second, third Pet Beast... and so on, with the Beastmaster's rank elevating accordingly.
"I wonder what level counts as succeeding in awakening on the first Meditation?"
"It should be pretty good, right?" Chen Qi thought silently.
At the same time, a light blue screen appeared in Chen Yuan's vision.
[Host: Chen Yuan
Level: Initial-tier Beastmaster
Skills: Mind Sensing (capable of knowing the thoughts of a Contracted Pet Beast)
Source Point: 1]
"So I'm an Initial-tier Beastmaster now," Chen Yuan's eyes shone brightly.
"Does that mean the next level is Middle-tier? High-tier?"
"Basic Meditation Method 1.0" didn't elaborate on these details, making Chen Yuan unsure whether it was intentional or if the authorities were also unaware.
Regarding the Mind Sensing on the panel, this was a skill every newly awakened Beastmaster learned, facilitating communication with their Pet Beast.
But for now, Chen Yuan didn't have a Pet Beast of his own.
Wait a minute!
Suddenly something occurred to Chen Yuan, and he quickly walked out of the office, staring intently at the Flame Cloud Falcon in the iron cage.
An Extraordinary Creature, and they had one right here.
Under Chen Yuan's gaze, the Flame Cloud Falcon slowly woke up, subconsciously curling up in the corner of the iron cage, with slightly alert azure eyes fixed on Chen Yuan, and its fiery red feathers slightly dim.
Glancing at the data panel, Chen Yuan saw that the Flame Cloud Falcon's favorability towards him had become five.
Chen Yuan was temporarily unsure of the tangible benefits of increasing favorability, but given that the Flame Cloud Falcon was an extremely special Extraordinary Creature, the higher the favorability, the better, naturally.
With this thought, Chen Yuan slowly walked to the iron cage.
The Flame Cloud Falcon's eyes suddenly widened, its wings flapping, yet its body trembling slightly.
It seemed both vigilant and a subconscious reaction.
Ordinarily, wild animals should be released back into nature once they've recovered and meet the release conditions.
But the Flame Cloud Falcon wasn't an ordinary wild animal.
However, being part of the system, Chen Yuan knew the importance of caution in doing things, so without hesitation, he pulled out his phone to send a message:
"Leader, after the fire-breathing bird recovers its mobility, how should it be handled?"
The leader's reply was very quick, "Do as you see fit."
Chen Yuan's eyes flickered, "Received."
Combining the information from Chen Wenhao and the leader's reply, Chen Yuan had many speculations about the upper echelon's stance toward this change.
Then,
Chen Yuan glanced at the shivering Flame Cloud Falcon, smiling gently, "There is now an opportunity with food and shelter."
"Chirpy?" The Flame Cloud Falcon blinked, full of confusion.
"You make a contract with me, become my Pet Beast, and from now on, live with me without worrying about food and drink," Chen Yuan declared with a wave of his hand, full of boldness.
The Flame Cloud Falcon hadn't responded yet, but Cola seemed to understand Chen Yuan's meaning, staring at him wide-eyed in disbelief.
"Woo woo woo!"
I was here first!
Surprised, Chen Yuan glanced at Cola, suddenly feeling that Cola, who had not yet turned into an Extraordinary Creature, was even more humane and intelligent than the Flame Cloud Falcon.
But Cola wasn't an Extraordinary Creature and couldn't make a contract with Chen Yuan.
And seeing Cola's fierce reaction, the Flame Cloud Falcon looked down at the medical bandages wrapped around its wounds, its eyes moving around before puffing up its chest and nodding heavily, "Chirp!"
Food and shelter, sounds quite enticing.
