Hearing Wu Jun cave,
Wang Hongliang chuckled on the other end of the line.
He inwardly marveled at how brilliant his female strategist was.
A few cans of spray paint, costing less than ten yuan, had actually been enough to take care of that guy Wu.
He remembered his on-site visit the other day. The little supermarket's customer traffic rivaled a large hypermarket; it was practically a pot of gold, a massive cash cow.
The thought that the small supermarket would soon be his made him giddy.
After hanging up, Wang Hongliang didn't waste a second. He even got the 80,000 yuan in cash ready for the takeover.
「Thirty minutes after hanging up the phone.」
Smoking a cigarette and humming a tune, Wang Hongliang drove his car over and parked outside Wu Jun's small supermarket.
Wu Jun saw the black Honda stop through the window.
He figured Wang Hongliang had arrived.
He got up and walked out of the small supermarket.
Once outside, he walked directly toward the front of the car.
When Wang Hongliang saw Wu Jun actually coming out to greet him, he sneered from inside his car. The movement pulled at the bruises on his face, making him grimace in pain.
'So, you're not so tough after all, are you, Wu!'
'I use one little trick, and you fold completely.'
'Pathetic!'
Wang Hongliang snorted inwardly, lit a cigarette, and stuck it in his mouth. He then pushed the car door open and swung one leg out.
"JAXXXXX," Wu Jun memorized the license plate number, then turned and walked back toward the supermarket.
Having just gotten out of the car, Wang Hongliang stared at Wu Jun's retreating back, a little confused.
"Hey, Wu, you..." Wang Hongliang's eyes widened as he shouted, "Wu! What kind of attitude is that? Is that how you greet your benefactor?"
Wu Jun turned a deaf ear and kept walking.
"Wu, you stop right there!" Wang Hongliang jogged a few steps and blocked Wu Jun's path.
Seeing that Wang Hongliang, despite his bruised and swollen face, was still quick and nimble, Wu Jun felt he'd gone too easy on him yesterday.
"Good dogs don't block the path. Get lost," Wu Jun said, waving his hand impatiently.
"You..." Wang Hongliang was baffled again.
'Didn't this guy Wu just beg me to come over and talk about transferring the supermarket?!'
"Boss Wu, I won't bicker with you over pointless things." Wang Hongliang wanted this supermarket too badly. Suppressing his anger, he said, "I brought the money. Get the contract ready. Once we sign, I'll give you the cash on the spot."
"What contract?" Wu Jun asked, feigning ignorance.
"The supermarket transfer contract, of course," Wang Hongliang said, confused yet again. "Didn't you just call me and tell me to come over to transfer the supermarket to me?"
"You must have misheard," Wu Jun said with a smile. "I suggest you go to the hospital and have an ENT check your ears. You might have them stuffed with cotton."
With that, Wu Jun pushed Wang Hongliang aside and strode toward the supermarket.
His only purpose in calling Wang Hongliang over was to confirm his license plate number.
Now that his goal was achieved, Wang Hongliang could go get lost for all he cared.
Only then did Wang Hongliang realize he'd been played. A surge of anger rushed to his head, and his face instantly turned red.
"Wu, you've got guts! Just you wait!" Wang Hongliang snarled, spun around, and stalked back to his car. He slammed the door shut, having arrived in high spirits only to leave in bitter defeat.
"Dumbass," Wu Jun sneered as he went into the supermarket.
There were no customers at the moment, so during this rare moment of peace, Wu Jun began to prepare his tools.
A small supermarket like Wu Jun's, while called a supermarket, was really more like a general store.
Rice, flour, grains, oil, cigarettes, alcohol, milk tea, hardware tools—while it didn't have a complete selection of anything, it had a bit of everything.
The supermarket stocked small cans of spray paint, the kind that looked like bug spray. He bought them for 3 yuan a can and sold them for 5.
Wu Jun gathered five cans of green spray paint, went into his bedroom, and put them in a black backpack.
After closing up tonight, on this dark and windy night, would be the perfect time to act.
Worried he might misremember the license plate or get the numbers mixed up with a "twin" plate that had the same digits in a different order,
Wu Jun wrote down Wang Hongliang's plate number with a marker and put the note in his backpack as well.
He looked around the bedroom, which still looked like it had been ransacked by a thief.
It was currently a low-traffic period, and since he had nothing better to do, Wu Jun locked up the supermarket and went out.
He planned to take care of the bed situation first.
His back ached from a long day of work, and he couldn't take sleeping on the floor anymore.
Outside his residential complex, Wu Jun swiped his card and boarded the Route 111 bus.
「Forty minutes later, Wu Jun swiped his card and got off at the Home Furnishing Plaza stop.」
This mall was five stories tall and housed no fewer than a hundred different home furnishing brands, big and small. It was the largest furniture mall in the vicinity.
He entered the mall.
His eyes were met with sofas of all materials, wardrobes of varying heights, and all sorts of beds.
Now that he was earning twenty to thirty thousand yuan a day, Wu Jun wanted to buy himself a decent bed.
After all, a person spends a large portion of their life sleeping in bed.
A high-quality sleep keeps you energized for the whole day.
Buying a comfortable bed was absolutely necessary.
The hard wooden-plank bed he had bought for about 100 yuan, who knows how many times it had been second-hand...
Sometimes, Wu Jun would toss and turn on it, trying to sleep on his back, on his stomach, or hugging his quilt, but nothing was comfortable.
When that happened, he felt the bed itself was a big part of the problem.
"Sir, are you looking to buy furniture? Our store has a complete range of high, mid, and low-end furniture. Would you like me to show you around?"
Just as Wu Jun was feeling dazzled by the selection, a female salesperson approached him with a polite smile.
Wu Jun looked up and saw it was a shop that sold Simmons mattresses.
The only high-end bed brand he knew was Simmons.
Wu Jun said, "Show me around, then. I'd like to buy a bed."
"Of course. Do you need anything else? Our store is having a promotional sale right now. It's a great deal if you're looking to furnish a whole house."
Wu Jun was unimpressed by the salesperson's line, one he was sure she used 365 days a year.
Besides, his small supermarket was already packed to the brim with shelves; where would he have extra space for furniture?
As he walked, Wu Jun said, "Just the bed. Just show me the beds."
"Alright. May I have your name, sir? This is my business card. My name is Rong Rong. If you need anything in the future, please feel free to contact me." The salesperson handed Wu Jun a business card.
"Okay, I will." Wu Jun took the card, glanced at it, and casually tucked it into his wallet.
'The surname Rong is quite rare,' Wu Jun thought. It was the first time he'd ever met someone with that name.
They arrived at the showroom for beds.
Rong Rong introduced Wu Jun to various beds that, in his opinion, all looked more or less the same.
Among them, the most expensive bed, including the mattress, was priced at over 30,000 yuan.
Although he was determined to buy a good bed, that price was enough to make him reconsider.
Going from a 100-yuan bed straight to a 30,000-yuan one was a bit too big of a leap.
"This one will do." Wu Jun couldn't tell the good from the bad and couldn't be bothered to choose anymore. He picked a solid wood bed that, with the mattress, cost a total of 3,680 yuan.
The price was reasonable and within his acceptable range.
"Excellent choice, sir. Please come this way to pay. We'll also need your address, and we'll arrange for delivery shortly."
Rong Rong led Wu Jun to the checkout counter.
After paying, Wu Jun left his address and phone number, adding, "It'd be best if you can deliver it before 5 o'clock. I get a bit busy after 5."
Rong Rong glanced at the address Wu Jun had provided. It wasn't too far away, so she guaranteed, "Don't worry, Mr. Wu. We will definitely have it delivered to you before five."
