Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: A House, But Not a Home

Lynn didn't expect to run into someone he knew as soon as he stepped off the Teleportation Array in Celestial Destiny City, and it was someone he couldn't be more familiar with.

But judging by her appearance, she was about to head out. Lynn thought for a moment and decided not to follow her. After all, considering the earlier example of Little Youli, it was unclear whether this "wife" would recognize him.

Anyway, she's a fixed NPC in Celestial Destiny City, and he knows where her home is, so there's no rush to meet her. It's not too late to reconnect after she returns from her outing.

With this in mind, Lynn turned around and continued walking into the city, temporarily sparing the warrior profession's instructor, Catherine.

After he left, the Teleportation Magic Array in Celestial Destiny City activated, transporting Catherine and her students to the Ola Wilderness, where they would undergo a three-day, two-night practical training. Their opponents were demonized creatures roaming the wilderness, ranging from level 1 to 50, perfect for the new and second-year students to hone their skills.

Typically, such elementary training wouldn't require a warrior high-tier instructor like Catherine to personally lead the team, but recent rumors suggested that a Wilderness Silver Wolf King with a possible level above 200 had appeared in the Ola Wilderness. To ensure the safety of the new students, every team sent there had a high-tier instructor accompanying them.

If she got the chance, Catherine had another task: trying to tame that Wilderness Silver Wolf King. Of course, this task was only feasible if it showed no signs of demonization; if there was even a hint of demonization, it would go straight to the kill list.

"Everyone, form groups of three and disperse to hunt demonized creatures. A level 1 creature counts for 1 point; a level 50 creature counts for 50 points. A group with over 1,000 points will be rated as excellent and can complete the task early and return to the academy. Groups with less than 1,000 points after three days will be deemed inadequate. They will not only receive no credits but also face punishment upon returning. Understood?"

Sixty students from the Celestial Destiny Magic and Martial Arts Academy were participating in this practical training. With groups of three, they could form twenty teams, and with only this number of teams dispersing, the accompanying regular instructors could manage them entirely, especially with the almost Saint Tier instructor Catherine as a fallback. There should be no unexpected incidents...

To ensure fair grouping, they used a random draw method. The bustling 60 students quickly formed their teams and, under the instructors' guidance, began searching for traces of demonized creatures.

As for Catherine, the overall person in charge of this practical training, after the students dispersed, she took a compass-like device from her Space Necklace, following its guidance to locate the strongest nearby creature as quickly as possible.

However, when she held up the Pointer Plate, the typically reliable pointer inexplicably froze, stubbornly pointing towards Celestial Destiny City. No matter how she adjusted it, it wouldn't work.

"Strange. Surely, there are extremely strong individuals in Celestial Destiny City, but this is beyond what it should detect..."

Catherine's beautiful eyebrows knitted in frustration. She felt a bit at a loss. She had encountered malfunctioning devices before, but for it to go awry at such a critical moment, how could she find the Wilderness Silver Wolf King?

"Oh well, let's leave it to fate."

Being a veteran instructor, she had strong adaptability. Since the device couldn't be relied on, she decided to focus on protecting the students. After all, the only genuine threat they faced in the Ola Wilderness was the Wilderness Silver Wolf King. If they encountered it, she would try to tame it; if not, at least the students would be safe.

Meanwhile, while Catherine was leisurely conducting the practical training outside the city, Lynn had already found his first destination in Celestial Destiny City from memory.

It was a residence he had purchased in the game "Miracle." Although his financial resources at the time would have allowed him to buy a house easily in the real world, Lynn, whose gaming hours far exceeded real-life hours, prioritized buying a house in Miracle World.

Not only in Celestial Destiny City, but he also actually owned houses in the ten major cities of Divine Protection Continent, though none of these houses had a mistress...

Lynn Residence.

The house with a Chinese-character signboard was neither too large nor too small, standing conspicuously different among the nearby residences. After all, Miracle World's overall background was Western fantasy.

But Lynn never cared about this. Even though his surname "Lynn" was given by the old orphanage director and might not be his real surname, over the years, he neither changed his name nor his gaming character name; both were always Lynn.

The house, bought from the system, came with lifetime property rights; naturally, he also had keys. However, with over thirty properties in Miracle World, standing in front of the Lynn Residence's gate in Celestial Destiny City, he paused for quite a while, then took out a bunch of keys from his ring to try them one by one.

"Young man, is this your house?"

Once Lynn finally managed to try the correct key and open the mansion's main gate, the neighboring grandma, who had been watching him for a while, suddenly greeted him.

"Yes, it's mine. I just don't live here often."

In the past, Lynn's daily gaming hours were long, but most of the time, he was leveling up or treasure hunting. Occasionally, he'd participate in events, but he didn't really spend much time in any of his residences. After all, the main purpose of a house was a place to eat and sleep, and he did those in the real world.

"You call that not often? I've been living here for fifteen years, and I've never seen anyone next door..."

The grandma furrowed her brow at Lynn's words. She had lived there for quite a while, yet it was her first time seeing her neighbor. He said he didn't live there often, but had he looked at the weeds in his yard? They were taller than the walls, could you call that occupied?

"Well, I'm here to stay now. You carry on; I'm going in to have a look."

Lynn wasn't one for socializing, especially in the modern real world, where neighbors often didn't know each other. There was no need to get acquainted. Now, in his Celestial Destiny City residence, he didn't plan on getting to know the neighbors either, as he didn't even know where he'd eventually settle down.

"Oh... oh, go ahead. This house hasn't been tidied up in over a decade; you'll be busy for a while."

Seeing Lynn's polite but somewhat indifferent demeanor, the elderly lady, who had been in the large city of Celestial Destiny for over ten years, understood his meaning and didn't bother him further.

Only, since a young man had moved in next door, she thought it best to warn her granddaughter to be careful. Even though this young man's clothes looked quite shabby, he was indeed very handsome...
