Light and darkness...
Two completely incompatible forces.
Like water and fire, they restrain each other and mutually extinguish.
Although in previous "knowledge," Lynn often saw the invincible power brought by the fusion of these two forces, he never dared to try it easily in reality.
Because the protagonist in the novel successfully fuses light and dark, it's expected, and if it fails, it doesn't matter, after all, it's all fictional.
But he can't do that. He can only say success would be a great joy for all, but failure could mean he'd be eternally separated from his wife and children, and this separation is not the distance between a deity and a mortal, but between the human world and hell.
So Lynn has always known there was a way to potentially increase his power massively, yet he never attempted it.
He's worried that trying it might lead to his demise...
