Just when the music and plot both hit a low point, a ray of light from upstairs shone down, warm yet not glaring. But when looking up, the person behind the light was unseen.
The sound of footsteps on the stairs echoed, the source of light approaching. The music shifted from tranquil to urgent, tightening the heart, reminiscent of watching a horror film.
"It's me."
The voice was gentle like the breeze of March, soothing and helping to dispel the panic just felt.
Only now could you see the face blurred by the backlight, wearing a warm smile that made one smile with delight.
From this point, the music changed again, as if all the repressiveness had found an outlet to escape, the mood lightened, akin to a winter that had been cold for months, suddenly brightened by sun, driving away the chill, enveloping one in warmth.
"Why are you here?"
"I came to take you home."
