"Shinra Tensei!"
First came the pull of gravity, then the explosive repulsion that followed. In the original timeline, this combo alone could easily leave even elite jōnin on the brink of death. But in this enhanced version — magnified countless times over — Obito didn't even have time to groan before his body was smashed into pieces.
"Next!" Nagato stretched out his hand again, this time toward Uchiha Madara.
"Banshō Ten'in!"
Three hundred li away from Amegakure, a blue-and-white figure suddenly appeared in the sky — Ōtsutsuki Toneri. Having sensed the battle between Nagato and Madara, he flew rapidly toward their location. However, before he could get far, a golden figure blocked his path.
"Sorry," Naruto shrugged, raising his thumb to point behind him. "This road's closed today."
"Surface-dweller…" Toneri slowly opened his eyes. Where empty eye sockets should have been, a pair of extraordinary, radiant Byakugan-like eyes gleamed — eyes of overwhelming beauty.
These were no ordinary Byakugan — they were the Tenseigan, the evolved form of the Byakugan.
In theory, the Tenseigan is a dōjutsu on par with the Rinnegan.
If the Rinnegan is born from the fusion of the Mangekyō Sharingan and Yang chakra (from someone like Hashirama or an Ōtsutsuki),
then the Tenseigan is born from the fusion of high-purity Byakugan and Ōtsutsuki chakra.
Formula:
Rinnegan = Mangekyō Sharingan + Yang Release Chakra (Hashirama or Ōtsutsuki chakra)
Tenseigan = High-purity Byakugan + Ōtsutsuki chakra
Toneri's voice was calm. "And what exactly do you intend to do by blocking my way?"
"Nothing major," Naruto replied casually, tilting his head toward the sky. "Just asking you to turn back — the world down here doesn't welcome you. Oh, and while we're at it…" He jabbed a thumb toward the moon above. "I'll be taking back my sister-in-law's eyes."
Toneri had taken Hanabi's eyes during Uzushio's moment of weakness.
I wonder, Naruto thought with a grin, if Hanabi's Byakugan might evolve into the Tenseigan once she gets them back.
A savage smile spread across his face. His body swelled with muscle, golden light flooding the entire sky.
"If you won't go back willingly," he said, his voice rumbling with power, "then I'll have to deport you by force."
The Second Coming of the Golden Flash!
Though both were known as the "Golden Flash," one represented speed incarnate, while the other now embodied limitless strength.
"You can try, surface-dweller," Toneri replied. Perhaps sensing danger, green chakra began to swirl around his entire body —
Tenseigan Chakra Mode.
Meanwhile, on the battlefield below, half of Madara's body was gone — and even Edo Tensei regeneration couldn't restore it.
"Impossible… absolutely impossible…" Madara stared in disbelief at his ruined form.
"You only gained my eyes," he growled, "so how could you become this powerful?"
"Why?" Nagato's eyes dimmed slightly, as though recalling someone from his past. "Maybe…" he murmured, "…because I had a good ancestor."
Madara didn't understand, but his mind was already spinning, calculating a way to counter Nagato.
"I still… have one last chance!"
There was one method left — risky, uncertain — but at this point, Madara could only gamble.
Clenching his jaw, he forced out several words between his teeth, then slammed his hand to the ground.
"Edo Tensei!"
Several coffins slowly rose from the ground, each marked with a number from 1 to 9.
"Tobirama might've been a fool," Madara muttered, "but I'll give him this — his jutsu are quite handy."
Coffin #1 creaked open, revealing a monk — Bunpuku, the previous One-Tails jinchūriki.
Then coffin #2 opened — the previous Two-Tails host.
Then #3…
Except for the Five-Tails, Four-Tails, and Six-Tails, the rest contained former jinchūriki, such as Blue B, the previous Eight-Tails host, in coffin #8.
Finally, coffin #9 opened slowly — and out stepped the brothers Kinkaku and Ginkaku.
Each of these people, whether former jinchūriki or connected to tailed beasts, had been gathered according to Madara's prior instructions to Obito.
In the original story, even though Obito never captured the Eight-Tails or Nine-Tails, he still managed to become the Ten-Tails jinchūriki. That's because he had found substitutes — the severed tentacle of the Eight-Tails, and Kinkaku and Ginkaku, who both carried the Nine-Tails' chakra.
Thus, in theory, one didn't need all nine beasts to resurrect the Ten-Tails — as long as equivalent substitutes existed, it was possible.
Summoning these individuals with tailed beast chakra was only the first step.
The second—
"Edo Tensei: Form Alteration!" Madara pressed his hands together, and before everyone's eyes, his body began to change at incredible speed. His long black hair turned ashen-gray, his skin sagged, and his once-proud posture bent with age.
This was the elderly Madara — the form Obito had first met.
When he opened his eyes, the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan had been replaced by the Rinnegan.
Thus appeared the second pair of Rinnegan on the battlefield.
The youthful Madara was indeed the strongest version of himself — but at that time, he did not possess the Rinnegan.
No matter how much he exploited loopholes, the Edo Tensei couldn't manifest a version of Madara who was both in his prime and had the Rinnegan. The two states were mutually exclusive — he could only be one or the other.
Since reclaiming Nagato's Rinnegan was impossible, he had only one option left: return to the age when he had possessed it — his old man form.
"Obito, stall Nagato."
Now in his weakened, elderly state, Madara's power had dropped dramatically. At this level, even without Nagato personally intervening, a single Human Path body could easily defeat him.
"Madara…"
Obito lay on the ground speechless — most of his bones shattered. Without using Izanagi, he'd need days to recover. But if he did use Izanagi, he'd gain five minutes of invincibility — at the cost of one eye. And once those five minutes ended, Nagato would kill him instantly.
Without it, he couldn't even stand.
"Stall Nagato"? Easy to say — but impossible to do. Once Kamui was broken, he'd literally have to fight Nagato with his head.
"Obito, allow me to lend you a hand."
A familiar voice echoed in Obito's mind. Suddenly, his body sank into the ground. Moments later, he reemerged — now wearing a spiral-patterned mask and a living cloak of plant matter.
"Now we're good to go, right, Obito? Borrow my strength."
"Zetsu…" Obito recognized the voice immediately.
"Hey, I even brought a whole batch of White Zetsu with me," Black Zetsu added.
From the soil, countless White Zetsu sprouted like seeds bursting open, each emerging one after another.
Hundreds of them gathered together, fusing into a massive, monstrous entity that radiated immense chakra.
This should at least buy us some time, Obito thought, confidence slowly returning. Worst case, I can still use Izanagi.
"Shinra Tensei!"
A single move. Just one casual strike from the Deva Path —
and the colossal White Zetsu creature was annihilated on the spot.
So much for "stalling Nagato."
It was laughable. Utterly impossible.
