After parting ways with Piccolo, Naruto immediately set out for West City.
With the boy's current level of ability, leaving him to live on his own wasn't a problem—after all, in the original story, Piccolo had lived alone as well.
"Hey, Naruto, the thing you asked for is ready. Want to come see it?"
Upon arriving in West City, Naruto was warmly welcomed by Bulma and her family.
After enjoying a lavish dinner, Bulma led him to the open yard behind her home—though "yard" was an understatement. It was more like a mountain. The Brief family's property was unimaginably vast.
Dr. Brief had a peculiar habit: he often brought home stray animals—cats, dogs… and even dinosaurs. Yes, actual dinosaurs. And not the small kind—he once kept a Tyrannosaurus rex as a pet. Naturally, anyone who could keep dinosaurs needed plenty of space.
"This is the spaceship you asked for," Dr. Brief said, stopping before a massive spherical vessel that was about the size of a small hill.
Though its overall round shape remained, the ship had been completely redesigned into three distinct levels—upper, middle, and lower.
Originally, Goku's space pod had barely been large enough to hold a small child of eight or nine. But after Dr. Brief's modifications, it had become a luxurious three-story mobile villa.
"The first level is the control room," Bulma explained as she led Naruto aboard. "It's used to operate the ship. Since I was worried manual controls might be too complicated, I set it up with an intelligent system."
"If you want to go somewhere, just input the command."
"If typing feels too troublesome, you can just say it aloud instead."
As expected of Earth's top tech genius—this system alone could easily rival the most advanced technology in the galaxy.
"The second level is the gravity chamber you asked for. You can freely adjust it up to one hundred times Earth's gravity."
She pointed to the control console in the center of the floor. "Just enter a number and press confirm."
"But I suggest starting small," she added. "One hundred times gravity is… a bit excessive."
"As for the third level," Dr. Brief said, puffing out his chest with pride, "that one's truly special."
The fact that even he was proud made Naruto curious. He nodded for the doctor to continue.
"It took me nearly two months to remodel this section."
Which meant the other two levels had been completed in just one month—a feat Naruto, even without engineering knowledge, recognized as incredible.
Curiosity growing, he followed them up to the third floor.
There, he saw a complete living space—sofas, a bed, refrigerator, bathroom… everything one could need for daily life.
So… what exactly had been "modified" here?
A medical chamber, perhaps?
But those were a Frieza Force specialty, weren't they?
While Naruto was still guessing, Dr. Brief walked over to two enormous speaker units and patted them fondly.
"This big guy right here! I spent two months developing a system that can automatically play music based on the listener's mood."
"So… the big modification to the third level… is the stereo system?" Naruto asked, at a loss for words as he stared at the pair of speakers, each nearly as large as the doctor himself.
"That's right! My greatest invention yet!"
"Surely you'd want to listen to some music while training or resting, wouldn't you?"
Naruto: …
Just then, Bulma handed him a piece of clothing.
"This battle suit isn't made from any material found on Earth—it can't be mass-produced yet. But I adjusted the design to match what you requested. Try it on."
It was based on Vegeta's Saiyan-style armor: light, breathable, skin-tight, and yet highly durable.
"Durable" was an understatement—its defensive capability was meant for space combat.
On Earth, even an ordinary human wearing it could shrug off bullets.
Even a rocket launcher couldn't pierce it… well, as long as you didn't get hit in the head.
"And this," Bulma continued, taking out the scouter Naruto had previously given her, "is quite something. Don't be fooled by how small it is—it uses technology far beyond anything on Earth. It can communicate, detect energy, scan, locate, and even numerically measure a person's strength."
"I made a few small adjustments and converted the interface into Earth's language."
She put the scouter over her ear.
"I've already tested a few people—most have readings between three and six. The strongest one I've found was seven."
Then she turned to Naruto.
"Naruto, come here a sec. Let's test your power level."
She pressed the activation button.
Beep-beep-beep!
A string of numbers appeared before her eyes.
"Five hundred?!" Bulma gasped, covering her mouth. "That's your power? You're hundreds of times stronger than a normal human!"
"No," Naruto said, shaking his head. "That's not my full strength."
That five hundred was his suppressed power level.
After all, even Mr. Popo had a power level of around a thousand—and Naruto had been able to fight him evenly. There was no way his true strength was only five hundred.
"I can control the flow of energy in my body," Naruto explained. "That means I can freely raise or lower my power level. Like this…"
He pointed to his eyes, signaling Bulma to test him again.
Beep-beep-beep…
"It's true!" Bulma exclaimed in disbelief. "Your power level just dropped—to five!"
After a few more tests confirming the change, she handed the scouter to Naruto and briefly explained how to use it.
Beep-beep-beep.
Naruto tried it out for himself.
The scouter's range wasn't limited to nearby readings—it could scan across the entire planet.
In a way, it was the ultimate piece of black technology: functioning flawlessly without satellites or signal networks.
10,000 kilometers away… several power levels between 300 and 600 detected.
That must be the Dragon Team training at Kami's Lookout.
Far to the north… a single reading close to 400.
That was probably Piccolo. After parting ways, he had headed away from civilization—toward the remote, frozen lands.
Aside from the Dragon Warriors, the rest of the world's highest power levels barely reached around one hundred.
Beep-beep-beep!
The scouter beeped again.
"Huh? Two energy signatures over 200…?"
According to the coordinates displayed, they were located near one of the most remote villages on the planet.
"Who could be that strong out there? …Yajirobe?"
