Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Tragedy in Elgore

In the first week, the warriors of the Demon Prince Kingdom were unsure whether they should follow Daimon's hasty decisions.

"This is a suicide mission," a soldier said. But the seven generals knew that Daimon had the potential to rule the underworld.

Throgol grabbed an axe and cut off the arm of the soldier who had complained. "You ought not to test me, boy. The Prince can do it, I just know he can," Throgol said.

"How can you be so sure?" asked the soldier.

"In all my years, I've never seen eyes that glowed like that, so driven, so angry, and willing to do anything to get what he wants. Anyone who gets in his way shall be killed. This is the making of a new Demon King. A new era has begun."

Hearing this, the soldiers felt relieved and continued their work.

Meanwhile, in the human realm, famine and hunger were pushing people to the brink of starvation. But the Supreme Dragon Lords no longer cared. People were dying, and the world was on the edge of collapse.

Malzahar, seeing this from the underworld, felt his rage ignite once more, driving his thirst for revenge against all who had wronged him.

With roughly a week left before the attack on Elgore, all of the generals assembled again to plot a new war plan to overcome this obstacle. Dreadlurks multiplied by the millions through magic, but they were still not strong enough to stand one-on-one against an average Elgorian warrior.

That was the problem no matter how vast their army, it lacked strength. Daimon knew this. Malzahar knew this. But deep down, they both understood that Daimon possessed the Devourer. Because of that power, he believed he could defeat Draco in this war.

Still, going after the fourth-largest kingdom in the Underworld was a steep hill to climb. Daimon had to believe in his generals and himself to make it happen.

The plan was simple: begin with a barrage of magic. Once they broke through the horde, it would be the generals' job to destroy the barrier protecting the kingdom. When that barrier fell, they would storm the castle. Together with Daimon, they would charge into the throne room where Draco and his generals awaited them.

Days passed, and preparations were complete. Daimon stood at the top of his small castle, gazing at the dark sky and speaking to Malzahar.

"Can I really do it? I was the weakest demon in the underworld, and now I'm going to war against Elgore."

Malzahar, realizing how far they had come, replied, "You can always count on me when you can't do it yourself. But rely on your own strength and see how far it can take you. Remember, Daimon you and I are one."

Daimon smiled faintly, for tomorrow, they would march on Elgore.

The Demon Prince Army marches to Elgore, a staggering 3 million troops with an all-time high of confidence moving toward the city that champions an enormous number of 60 million warriors.

To every demon in the underworld, this was a very impossible mission, but Daimon's resolve remains untouched.

Seeing the castle from a mile away, they stop and lay siege in front of the kingdom. They see an ocean of 10 million outside the kingdom's large gates. You can feel the ground shake and hear the roars of the warriors from Elgore.

That's the first unit of their army, already more than triple the size of the Demon Prince Army. Seeing all of this, Daimon feels his hand shake. The faces of his generals already have no expression, for they know they are ready to die for the Demon Prince. In a way, they are truly loyal to the Prince and would do anything for his glory.

Seeing a wave of Elgorian soldiers, there lies a very old mage named Valerian, one of the underworld's strongest mages, responsible for the ancient barrier that protected Elgore for centuries. He could rival the Demon Lord's magic, a pioneer of ancient and dark magic. An elite force surrounds Valerian. But on the Demon Prince's side, Throgol also has ancient magic in his arsenal.

Together with Maya and their mages, they make a big fireball bigger than before, hoping to wipe out the horde of Elgorian soldiers. As soon as they cast the spell, Valerian counters it with purple flames, a hint of ancient magic.

As they threw their own fireball, it was just devoured secondarily by Valerian's magic. Shocked, all of them watch as Daimon quickly thinks about it. It's very simple. So he acts quickly, using his godspeed rush to break through the horde and head straight toward Valerian.

In a matter of seconds, he moves from his camp into the middle of the enemy horde, attempting to grab Valerian's heart in hopes of devouring it. As soon as he is about to grab it, an assassin from Elgore named Mogul Khan slices his fingers. "How arrogant," says Valerian. "You really think I would go out here unprotected? Such a child, all these followers you have will be killed today, and their blood is on your hands. BOY."

Daimon stands up, surrounded by the army. Mogul Khan smiles. "Nobody interferes; this kid is mine." They circle each other and engage in a duel. Daimon strikes first using his speed, but Mogul Khan can easily keep up with him, unleashing a series of attacks that Daimon barely dodges.

Meanwhile, at the Demon Prince camp, everyone is in shock at how Daimon just went into the middle of the Elgorian army. Maya is so confused and afraid. "That wasn't part of the plan!" The generals panic. But Hephestus and Byakuya are composed. "We knew he was going to do something like this. Don't worry, we can get him back."

Daimon, now with multiple wounds, holding the deep ones, is laughed at by Mogul Khan. "So you're supposed to take over the underworld? The famous Demon Prince pays us a visit?! You're so funny." Daimon almost faints. Byakuya has teleportation magic and already casts a spell on Daimon so they can exchange positions anytime. As Mogul Khan is about to deliver a killer strike, Byakuya swaps places with Daimon. Now Daimon is back at his camp, bleeding.

Realizing it, he shouts, "Byakuya no!" Hephestus and Throgol hold Daimon down because he wants to go back. "He's going to die! They are too strong; we must get him back." All of them hear Daimon, but they don't move a muscle.

For they know they have come to an agreement that the only way to save Daimon is to sacrifice Byakuya. And Byakuya is more than willing to do it. Before swapping places with Daimon, he says, "It's an honor to save the Prince. You assholes must survive and make sure he gets to where he's supposed to be." As Maya and Hephestus shed a little tear, Daimon stands where Byakuya once stood. Daimon realizes all of this that everything is his fault for being too cocky and hasty. He lets out a shout, "Byakuya!"
