Chapter 18 - Reyan’s Friend

Season 1, Episode 18 of "Before She Knew My Heart"

Some dangers don't arrive loudly.

They don't announce themselves.Don't look like villains.

They smile. They joke. They stand close enough to feel normal…

Until they don't.

Ayla had started spending more time with Reyan.

Not intentionally.

Not because she replaced Aarav.

But because life… had shifted her there.

Classes, group studies, late discussions —Reyan was just… around.

And with him, came people.

Friends.

One of them…

She didn't like.

Not at first.

Not clearly.

Just a feeling.

His name didn't matter.

Because people like him don't introduce themselves properly.

They slide into spaces.

Too casually.Too comfortably.

The first time he spoke to her, it felt normal.

"Reyan's told a lot about you," he said, leaning against the table.

She smiled politely.

That's what she always did.

The second time…

He stood closer than needed.

Not enough to question. But enough to notice.

The third time…

He didn't move when she stepped back.

That's when the discomfort began.

Ayla ignored it.

Because girls are taught that sometimes…you're just "overthinking."

That maybe it's nothing.

That maybe it's your fault for noticing.

But it wasn't nothing.

One evening, after a long day, she stayed back on campus.

Group discussion.

Assignments.

Reyan was there.

And so was he.

It was getting dark.

People started leaving.

Reyan stepped out to take a call.

Just for a few minutes.

That's when it happened.

He sat beside her.

Closer than before.

Too close.

"You're quiet today," he said.

She nodded. "Just tired."

He smiled.

But it didn't feel like a smile.

His hand brushed her back.

Slowly.

Not accidental.

Ayla froze.

Her body didn't react immediately.

But her mind did.

Something was wrong.

She shifted forward.

Trying to create space.

He leaned closer.

Lower voice now.

"You know… you don't have to act so decent. I know girls like you."

Her heart started racing.

"What?" she said, confused, uncomfortable.

He smirked.

"Come to the guest house tonight. I'll treat you better than anyone here."

For a second…

Everything went silent.

Not fear.

Not yet.

Just shock.

Then came the realization.

She stood up immediately.

"Don't talk to me like that."

Her voice shook.

But it was firm.

He laughed.

Like it was a joke.

Like it didn't matter.

"Relax," he said. "Don't act like you're not interested."

That's when fear arrived.

Not loud.

But sharp.

She grabbed her bag.

Walked away.

Fast.

Didn't look back.

Reyan returned later.

She didn't tell him.

Not there.

Not in that moment.

Because sometimes…

It takes time for the mind to accept what just happened.

That night…

She didn't sleep.

Her phone was in her hand.

Aarav's name on the screen.

Her thumb hovered.

She didn't call.

Because she didn't know how to say it.

Didn't know how to explain what she felt.

Didn't know how to break the silence she had created…

with something this heavy.

But for the first time in days…

She didn't want Reyan.

She didn't want space.

She didn't want anything new.

She wanted…

Aarav.

And somewhere, across the wall…

He was awake.

Not knowing why his chest felt tight.

Not knowing what had happened.

But feeling it.

Because some bonds…

don't need words.

They just know.
