Jack went to pick up the summoning portal and the gemstone retracted the holographic portal.

'So I can't just pick it up whenever I want? That limits things I guess.' Jack thought while putting the gemstone in his pocket.
While he waited he tried to organize what he had to do in this new world.
'First I have to find the entrance to the mountain, then deal with that guardian and claim the territory.' Jack thought while continuing on to his ability, having to choose a new name, the troops and how to feed them, how the resources was important and what else might be next in this vast world.
But luckily it didn't take more than half an hour before he heard the shouts of his troop.
"We found it Mylord!! It's very close, look between those two giant rocks 50 meters ahead, there is an old ruined road leading to a plateau up the mountains leg. But hurry, Mylord! We've already taken casualties!"
Jack was excited about the news, but also worried as he had no warning about losing some of his troops.
"Hurry, gather all the troops and lets get up to the plateau!" Jack yelled and started moving towards the path between the two rocks.
The two rocks stood as olden guardians of the ten meter wide path up the mountains leg. The path seemed to have hints of medieval cobblestones here and there, as if it indeed had been a proper road once.
The rest of the troops gathered around him, counting 39 and they advanced up the road with steep vertical rocks making a barrier on both sides of the path, about two meters high.
When they reached the top, and the ground evened out, Jack could finally see the guardian, located a hundred meters further ahead, in front of a massive hole in the mountain side.
'That is a dwarf!' Jack impulsively thought.
A 1.4 meter tall dwarf was sitting on a small stone in front of the entrance. It had dark hair and a long black twin-braided beard. It looked like a small human, however it was massively dense and muscles clearly defined every fiber of it. Around it lay 11 of Jacks trash troops, already dead and gone.
'What a waste of gold coins! This dude must be strong if it can kill so many so quickly.' Jack wondered while suddenly the system alerted him.

As Jack watched, the severely weakened status counted down, 2 minutes and 12 seconds, 2 minutes and 11 seconds…. He had to do something fast or loose this god-given land-claim forever.
"We need to kill him fast or he will recover!" Jack yelled while continuing to order his troops to surround the guardian.
The guardian however was no longer passive, it stood op, heaving for breath. Then it vanished before Jacks troops could complete the circle.
Instantly the closest troop was decapitated. The guardian stood with a heavy two-handed double-edged axe. Heavy and extremely deadly!
Even in an extremely weakened state the guardian was very fast, running to the next troop and arcing his axe - next troop vertically split, dead in a second.
Jacks troops tried to stab with their spears, shouting and taunting, but even if they hit, they couldn't penetrate the guardians armor.
'I have to do something!' Jack was bewildered, the clock was ticking, one minute left.
Feeling insufficient, Jack had an impulse; 'My ability! It said earth and water controle - but how do I use it?'
Jack was feeling his brain surging with energy, he was not used to think very much. On earth he just lived his life passively in the end, accepting a dull and lonely life.
But now his thirst for life was reborn tenfold! This was exciting! A fight with the supernatural and a chance of a much better life.
He had to win!
Jack focused on his newfound mental energy, instinctively wanting to reduce the speed of the guardian. He felt a water reservoir in the earth, hundreds of meters down. Surprised, he mentally touched the water. Adding his mental power to the water he got a surprisingly firm hold of it, and began guiding it upwards in a steady thin flow.
14 seconds.
13 seconds.
12 seconds.
Jack felt the water was finally coming to the surface. The moment the guardian stood still after decapitating yet another troop, Jack visualized a mix of water and earth beneath it.
Jack felt as if something had poured out of him, drained him. He felt rather lightheaded and weak. But it had been worth the mental drainage because the earth around the guardian was turned into quicksand and it was stuck for good!
The more the guardian thrashed to get free, the more stuck it got, and the remaining 17 troops had firmly surrounded it and stabbed it everywhere they could.
In the last second, he had finally succeeded to hit it one time!
