The door of room no. 801 stood open. No light came from inside the room. There was no sound coming from the room; it was complete inside the room. Yet all of them felt the same thing: that they are continuously being watched by someone.
Rhea took a step forward. Her heart was beating so hard she was sure the others could hear it. "This is where it begins," she whispered. The room lit up suddenly; it was not bright but like an old yellow bulb, like in poor houses.
The room was larger than it should have been. The walls were cracked; the mirror opposite the bed was broken in sharp lines. Rhea saw that the chair was at the exact place where she looked in her vision. On the wall it was written, "DON'T LET HER SLEEP," in different handwriting. Vivek was very frightened after reading that; he asked, "Who's she?" Then suddenly something happened in the mirror and the wall; there was slight movement in the mirror. They saw a lady appear in the mirror.
After the lady appeared in the mirror, Rhea suddenly asked, "You are Anjali, right? You were also in my vision." The lady who appeared in the mirror replied, "Yeah, I am Anjali. I came in your vision. Then a very thick liquid started to fall from the ceiling; when they looked at it, they realized that it was blood dropping from the ceiling.
They screamed together; they all were very scared as they started to run outside the room. The door automatically closed. The voice of Anjali came from behind; you can't leave without her permission. The room grew colder. Anjali's image became clearer.
The lights flickered, and the chair creaked as something sat. Not fully visible. Anjali's voice shook. Her name was not recorded; the hotel erased it. She was brought here years ago, broken, angry, and awake too long. The shadow moved, and everyone froze. "She couldn't sleep," Anjali continued, "and when she doesn't sleep, she listens."
The shadow leaned forward. A voice came from it. Harsh said quickly, "She feeds on awareness. In panic. On attention. That's why light always goes." Rhea whispered, and Keshav saw her.
"Yes." The main spirit said, "So I stayed with him." The mirror cracked further. Anjali said, "She doesn't kill the body first; she first kills hope. Once you accept this, you belong to her." Vivek looked at Anjali, horrified, and asked, "Because I didn't let her sleep. I kept remembering myself, which kept me half alive. The shadow stood up, and the temperature dropped sharply.
"I am awake now," said the spirit. "And you brought yourselves to me," the spirit continued. The door began to disappear. Rhea stepped forward and said, "You need us to fear you." Rhea continued, "And if we don't, if we stop reacting, you lose shape." The spirit paused for a moment. Anjali nodded desperately and said, "Yes, Rhea, you are right; don't look, don't name her."
The lights went out; darkness returned. But this time no one was scared. No one ran. They held hands; they breathed slowly. Minutes passed, but nothing happened; no one disappeared. The lights came back, the chair was empty, and the shadow was gone. The writing on the walls faded. The mirror showed them only, and the door opened. They stumbled out into the lobby; morning lights streamed through the glass.
The hotel looked normal—too normal, like nothing strange had occurred in the hotel. As they, remaining friends, stepped outside, Rhea turned back and saw at the window. She saw someone. Not angry, not smiling, just awake. The hotel doors closed behind them. After the six friends left the hotel, room 801 was sealed forever, yet every night someone inside still knocks, asking to be let out. After a few months, the six friends were together at Harsh's house; they had planned to have lunch together. Dev was busy reading the newspaper. He read an article, and he was very shocked. He called everyone and said, "Look what's written in the newspaper." Everyone went towards Dev and asked, "Why are you so shocked? What's written in the newspaper?"
He then hesitatingly said, "Remember that hotel in which we all went? The owner of that hotel was found dead in that hotel." Harsh said, "Found dead in his hotel? How is that possible? We all knew that we left the hotel and that hotel was sealed." Dev said, "Yeah, I know, but it's written in the newspaper. The history of the hotel is also given here." "What's the history?" asked Vivek.
Dev said, "Long before the hotel existed, this land was a forest, silent and untouched and feared by the locals. There were only two things in that forest: one was trees, and the other thing was a single grave. No one knew whose grave it was. When the owner of the hotel got to know that he could build his hotel in the jungle and there was only one grave in the jungle, he ordered his men to remove the grave. But removing the grave wasn't an easy task. The locals knew he was not buried by others.
He prepared his death himself. The villagers believed he had completed a ritual that required his own body as the final sacrifice. When the workmen started to build the hotel, they faced many issues; one of the main issues was the grave. Risabh ordered his workmen to remove the grave. When the workmen finally removed the grave and successfully constructed the base of the hotel the next day, unbelievable things started happening.
Tools broke without reason. Workers heard whispers calling their names. One worker jumped into the pit screaming that someone was pulling him underground. After facing many difficulties, the hotel was finally built. It was a very luxurious hotel; everything in it was made of the best quality. After a few days the opening ceremony day came; it was kept private. Only the hotel staff, the owner (Rishabh), and a few close friends were present. As the ribbon was tied near the reception, soft music played in the background. Rishabh lifted the scissors, smiling. Suddenly they heard the sound of something scratching on the glass; when they turned towards the glass, they saw a faint red line appear on it. Slowly letters started to form after a few seconds; one line was written, and that was "I WILL KILL EVERYONE." Rishabh immediately. That day later, Rishabh knew some of the sorcerers who could help him; he called every one of them in the hotel.
In the night the sorcerers began with their rituals after a lot of effort and work, and finally they captured the spirit in 801. They told Rishabh to never open this door; if you open it, the spirit will not be in anyone's control, not even ours. Rishabh agreed and told all his staff to never open the door, and it remained closed for many years until Anjali arrived. The manager mistakenly handed over the key to room no. 801 instead of 804, and when Anjali went inside the room, the spirit gained all his power back.
