Chapter 99 - : The Day Fire Rewrote Fate

Chapter 100

The world stood still.

No wind.

No sky.

Only a circle of silence—where gods once ruledand fire now watched.

Vaern walked slowly toward the last god.

Not with vengeance.

Not with wrath.

But with a gaze that saw everything.

Memories older than temples.

Pain older than prayers.

A boy once left in the flame, now carrying the weight of judgment.

The god did not bow.

But he trembled.

"You are incomplete."

Vaern raised his hand, palm open.

"I was."

He turned slightly, looking back at Kael.

"But he was the part I needed to burn without hate."

Behind them, the fig tree split in radiant bloom, petals scattering like starlight.

Eliendara's voice whispered through the wind:

"Let him choose his fate."

Kael stepped forward, standing beside Vaern.

Equal.

Not savior.

Not chosen.

Just brother.

"We don't want revenge," Kael said.

"We want a world where no one's forgotten."

Vaern nodded once.

Then turned back to the god.

"So I'm giving you a choice."

"Not out of mercy—but because I want to be better than you."

The mirror of fire above shimmered, and the god saw it again:

His choice.

A child on fire.Two souls.

One crying.

One silent.

And he had turned away from the one who didn't beg.

The god sank to his knees.

For the first time, not as ruler.

But as someone…who remembered.

"What do you want from me?" the god asked.

Vaern stepped closer.

His flame softened.

"Not your power."

"Your silence."

"Let us write the rest."

The god bowed his head.

And vanished.

Not in death.

But in surrender.

The sky healed.

The fire lifted.

Time breathed again.

And beneath it all, two flames stood side by side.

One born of prophecy. One born of refusal.

Both reborn.

From the horizon, the people began to walk toward them.

Not afraid.

Just… watching.

Waiting.

And as the world shifted…

hope was no longer a cradle. It was a choice.
