Chapter 101 - : The One Beneath Fire

Chapter 102

The earth moaned in its deepest layers. Not from pain—but from awakening.

Something beneath flame, beneath gods, beneath time…was breathing.

Kael paced the temple courtyard, unable to shake the feeling.

"It's like the fire inside me is flinching."

Vaern sat still, eyes shut, palms resting on bare stone.

He didn't speak for a long time.

Then:

"It's not afraid."

"It's remembering."

Eliendara rushed from the archive ruins with a single brittle tablet in her hands.

Ancient script, etched in ash instead of ink.

"There's no record of this thing.Just a name… erased from the language of flame."

Kael stepped forward.

"Say it."

Eliendara hesitated.

Then whispered—

"Tharos."

The wind stopped.

Somewhere, a fire went out without sound.

Vaern opened his eyes slowly.

His voice distant.

"I don't know what it is.But it remembers us."

Far beneath them, in a chamber of blackened bone,Tharos stirred.

It was not a creature.Not a spirit.Not a god.

It was void made aware.

Born in the moment before the first fire.Silent as stone.Patient as shadow.

And now, it felt insulted.

Insulted by judgment.

By rebellion.

By flame.

Tharos rose slowly from its cradle of ash.

Not walking.

Unfolding.

It did not scream. It did not threaten.

It simply thought—and the mountain above it cracked in half.

Kael staggered. Blood dripped from his nose.

Eliendara gasped.

Vaern gritted his teeth, silver-black fire flaring around him.

"Something just pulled at the memory of my flame."

Kael fell to one knee.

"It's not trying to destroy us…"

"It's trying to erase us."

The sky turned pale.

The fig tree's leaves blackened at the tips.

And from the east, where no path had ever existed,a road of ash began to form.

Leading toward them.
