"Finally, some excitement! Come at me, you insect! I'm your opponent!"
The arthropod creature let out another scream, as if declaring war on Yamka. As soon as the echoes of its cries filled the place, it charged toward her with the intent to attack using the black fangs protruding from both sides.
Yamka threw her axe to the ground, the sound of its impact echoing as her eyes filled with anticipation and excitement, never leaving the arthropod creature that was rapidly approaching her.
As soon as it reached her, her bare hands wrapped around its black fangs, resisting its attack, her feet firmly planted on the ground while the creature lost the ability to harm her with its fangs.
The creature began shaking its head in every direction, trying to break free from her grip, but she remained unyielding. When it realized that escaping her hold was futile, it lifted itself upward, standing on its hind legs, raising Yamka along with it until she was suspended in the air.
Yamka looked down to find the arthropod creature's mouth wide open, ready to devour her. The joints of her hands turned white as they held up her suspended body. She placed her feet on both sides of its mouth, a smile never leaving her face. Even in this situation, she continued to challenge it, shouting loudly:
"I'll crush you!"
"Yami!"
Haruki shouted from below, his expression filled with tension and worry. He stood there, looking small from afar, holding his bow and arrows.
That call distracted Yamka. She turned her head toward him, and before she could respond or reassure him that she had the situation under control, the creature shook its head violently, sending Yamka's body flying through the air until she vanished among the tree branches.
Haruki's face fell in horror as he watched his friend's body hurl through the air and disappear into the forest, followed by the sounds of branches breaking as she crashed through them from the force of the throw.
The tension in the air grew heavier and heavier as the creature turned toward Haruki's frozen figure, locking its gaze on him as its next target. Then it lowered itself onto its front limbs and began moving toward him.
The boy's eyes widened, and every part of his body stiffened. Terror began to consume him as the arthropod creature charged at him with great speed.
Noroi rushed from his place, extending his hand to push Haruki's body to the side, placing himself in his stead. The wrist blade protruded from his arm, and just as the creature came within a foot's distance, he raised his hand and drove the blade straight into its right eye, tearing through its tissue.
The creature pulled back, screaming at the top of its lungs from the pain caused by the stab. Purple liquid began to drip and flow out of the creature's eye, staining the green grass beneath it.
Noroi stepped back to stand beside Haruki, his breathing shallow from the tension around them, his eyes not leaving the sight of the creature that was still writhing in pain.
He spoke to Haruki beside him in a low voice.
"Can you hit its other eye with your arrows?"
"I think I can."
Haruki said hesitantly. He wasn't sure, but he couldn't just stand there doing nothing with this danger before them. He took a deep breath, trying to steady his heartbeat before spreading his legs to align with his shoulders and raising his bow upward, nocking an arrow to its string.
He drew it back, and before he could release it, the sound of loud laughter echoed from beside them.
