Ash had activated his Sharingan the moment he sensed something off about the tablet, but at first he hadn't seen anything unusual. Only when he shifted into the Kaleidoscope Sharingan did the truth finally reveal itself.
Yet, even with his immense spiritual power, he couldn't break through the psychic energy cloaking the slate.
That alone showed how terrifyingly strong the power woven into it was. Luckily, he also discovered that the psychic fluctuations weren't uniform—they came from several different sources.
"So that's it… At first, I thought all ancient psychics were this strong. Turns out, it wasn't just one person—it was multiple people combining their strength. For a moment, I almost thought humanity back then was beyond my level entirely." Ash smirked wryly at his own thoughts.
Still, the situation was frustrating. "Even if I've identified the cause, with my current spiritual power I still can't break through this barrier. System, is there any way?"
"Ding~!"
[To dismantle the psychic seal on this tablet, one thousand attribute points will be required.]
Ash nearly choked.
"Seriously? You profiteer… A thousand points just to break some psychic energy? I only have five thousand left!" He rolled his eyes. Still, he had no choice but to comply.
As soon as the system deducted the points, a surge of overwhelming force blasted through the psychic barrier. Ash instantly recognized it as the system's power. The tablet shimmered, and at last, the characters became clear.
"Finally. Now I can read it."
Ash carefully examined the slab, translating bit by bit. After ten minutes, he pieced together its meaning.
The inscription told of a cataclysm: long ago, hundreds of millions of years in the past, before Pokémon had even fully evolved into the forms known today, a meteorite had struck the world. Countless living beings perished. The record matched what Ash already knew from other ruins of the Super Ancient Civilization.
In that era, Pokémon were far larger than they are today. For reasons unknown, Super Ancient Pokémon had the ability to shrink in size, though most chose to remain massive. But when the meteorites fell, unleashing nature's wrath on an unimaginable scale, even the mightiest Pokémon couldn't resist the disaster.
To survive, many Pokémon shrank themselves, hoping to hide and endure. But when the catastrophe passed, those who had reduced their size found they could no longer return to their original forms.
At that time, Ash's Dragonite had still been an unhatched Dratini egg. Protected by its sturdy shell, it survived the disaster. When it finally hatched, it realized it was different. Unlike others of its kind, it could freely shift between large and small forms. Over time, it grew stronger through its own power, wandering the world for thousands of years until eventually meeting Ash.
The tablet also recorded the decline of the Super Ancient Pokémon. Though many who remained large continued to battle, their numbers dwindled with each conflict. Eventually, only a handful were left, and smaller Pokémon gradually replaced them.
Among the survivors were three particular Pokémon—creatures of overwhelming strength who wreaked havoc wherever they went.
Over time, humanity began to develop psychic abilities of their own. Working together, powerful psychics fought these destructive Pokémon and sealed them within the three items resting on the altar:
The golden spoon, which held the Super Ancient Alakazam.
The black dumbbell, which sealed the Super Ancient Gengar.
The gray bell, which imprisoned the Super Ancient Jigglypuff.
Ash's eyes hardened as he finished the translation.
"So it's true… These three weren't destroyed. They were sealed. And now they're right in front of me."
In order to prevent future generations from unraveling the seals of these three Legendary Pokémon, an altar was built.
The ancient ruins on the surface were little more than a distraction—a decoy meant to mislead intruders. In truth, they held almost no importance.
After studying the inscriptions on the stone tablet, Ash carefully stored it in his storage ring. He then stepped back a few meters, keeping his eyes fixed on the altar.
The slab had not revealed the method for moving the three objects that bound the ancient Pokémon. That meant Ash would need to figure it out himself.
He had no intention of capturing these three Pokémon. However, since he remembered this plot, he couldn't allow someone else to take advantage of it.
Even if he didn't need them, it was better to keep the sealed relics in his possession. After all, they were already bound; so long as he didn't break the seal, nothing would change—only their location would.
"Buzz!"
The three objects suddenly pulsed with a golden glow. Ash froze. At first glance, he could tell the seal was on the verge of breaking—yet he hadn't touched a thing.
"What's going on?" he muttered under his breath.
Then a thought struck him. Didn't the stone tablet mention that the spiritual energy sealed within it was dangerous? But… I never expected this.
Ash's eyes widened in realization. He clenched his fist. It must be the tablet I just placed inside the storage ring…
