"I think it should be a Poké Ball. Before I escaped from Team Rocket, they created a batch of black Poké Balls. Because my body requires massive equipment to restrain and transport, Giovanni intended to capture me using those Poké Balls. Unfortunately for him—thanks to you—I managed to escape ahead of schedule."
Mewtwo's voice echoed directly in Ash's mind through telepathy, something Giovanni couldn't hear.
"So, you're saying I helped you escape?" Ash said with a slight grin.
"Guess I deserve a thank-you then. Those black Poké Balls… Giovanni called them Dark Balls, right?"
The Dark Ball—a modified device based on the Master Ball's technology.
It could forcibly capture any Pokémon, even those already bonded with a Trainer. Its control field was immensely powerful, and the chance of escape for anything below a Legendary Pokémon was less than thirty percent.
"Can you still use Teleport?"
Ash asked, glancing warily at the Rocket agents surrounding Giovanni. Though Poké Balls couldn't be used on humans, the barrels of the weapons they carried were undoubtedly designed to launch those same Dark Balls.
"No… not right now," Mewtwo replied.
"If I concentrate, I can still sense movement, but teleportation will take at least half an hour to recover. Resisting your attack earlier drained almost all of my psychic energy. For a moment, I thought you weren't human at all… you felt like one of us—like a Pokémon."
Ash's eyes narrowed.
"I see. So, you really despise humans that much? Even after escaping, you must've encountered plenty—if not directly, then at least observed them from afar."
Mewtwo's telepathic voice grew quieter.
"I've heard many things about humans. They're not all like Team Rocket, that much I know. Perhaps there's some truth in your words."
"Then why hide behind the excuse of 'destroying humanity'?" Ash asked calmly.
Mewtwo's gaze sharpened.
"I only wish to create a world for Pokémon alone. Humans are too complicated—good and evil intertwined. It's impossible to judge them all individually. There are simply too many. Even with telepathy, sorting through every human heart would be endless. It's easier to start over—to erase them and rebuild a new world."
Ash chuckled softly.
"Funny. Your dream's not too different from one I once had. After your battle ends, I plan to rebuild the island—create a place where both humans and Pokémon can live together peacefully. Maybe even establish a new Gym there."
Mewtwo looked at him with disbelief. "Do you truly think you can achieve that? Even with your power?"
"You've seen what I can do," Ash said confidently.
"I'm not far behind you in strength. And I'm only sixteen—I still have time to grow stronger. But more than that, I believe in what humans can accomplish. A world made only for Pokémon might sound peaceful, but the cost would be unimaginable. And can you really guarantee no one like Giovanni will ever rise again? Humans might be weak physically, but our minds—our ideas—are limitless."
For a moment, Mewtwo was silent. Then, lowering his gaze, he said softly—this time aloud, not through telepathy—
"If you can truly build such a place of peace… I wouldn't mind being your Pokémon."
"What?" Giovanni's expression twisted at the words, though he couldn't understand most of the telepathic exchange. The phrase 'your Pokémon' was all he caught, and it made his face darken in fury.
Ash, however, smiled gently. "If I ever fail, you can leave anytime you wish. But if you're serious—come with me. From now on, we'll be companions."
With that, he held out a Master Ball toward Mewtwo.
"No—fire the Dark Balls! Don't let that brat capture Mewtwo!" Giovanni's pupils constricted as he shouted, voice sharp with panic.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The Rockets behind him immediately obeyed, raising their launchers. A volley of black Poké Balls—Dark Balls—shot through the air, their dark gleam reflecting the chaos of the battlefield as they raced toward Mewtwo.
But Giovanni's command came a moment too late.
Before the Dark Balls could reach him, Mewtwo's eyes met Ash's. For the briefest instant, understanding passed between them. Without hesitation, Mewtwo allowed himself to be drawn into the Master Ball in Ash's hand.
"Ding! …Ding! …Ding! …Ding!"
The ball trembled for several seconds—then clicked shut with a sharp ding.
A stunned silence swept over the field. Then—
Quartz Conference Arena
"Alright—he did it!"
"Unbelievable! Even though I didn't catch what they said, Mewtwo… actually chose to be captured by Ash!"
"Wooaaah!"
The entire arena erupted into thunderous cheers. Spectators rose to their feet, waving banners and shouting Ash's name.
Across Kanto—and even in distant regions—people watching the broadcast were stunned. They had witnessed the unimaginable: a human taming the world's most powerful Pokémon.
Mewtwo, the Genetic Pokémon, subdued not by force—but by choice.
League Reception Room
"It seems Mewtwo accepted Ash's offer," Professor Oak said, a rare look of relief softening his expression as he observed the monitor.
Beside him, Skye Draconis nodded thoughtfully.
"Mewtwo mentioned wanting to build something… perhaps a place of peace? It must be tied to the island Ash plans to develop into a new Gym."
Professor Oak's eyes gleamed with quiet pride.
"If that's the case, then maybe this really is a turning point—for both humans and Pokémon alike."
Skye folded his arms, a faint smile playing at the corner of his lips. "Whatever Ash is planning… it's bound to shake the entire world."
