Lyra's glowing red eyes widened in disbelief for a split second before they burned with even greater intensity.
Her golden hair seemed to flare with power as her expression twisted into something far more dangerous.
"You… refuse?" she whispered, her voice trembling.
Then it cracked into something much louder, much scarier.
"You refuse?!"
She slammed both hands on either side of his head, pinning him down on the bed as she leaned over him, her face mere inches away.
"Do you want to see how crazy I can really get, Gray?! Is that it?!"
Her voice cracked with raw emotion as everything spilled out at once.
"I waited for you for almost half a year! Every single day, I woke up wondering if today was the day you'd never open your eyes again! I trained until my bones cracked and my meridians bled because I was terrified that if something came for you, I wouldn't be strong enough to protect you! And the moment you wake up… the first thing you do is try to leave me?!"
