Chapter 289: A Century's Gains, Kamimusubi-no-Mikoto

Kinoshita Genichi decided he absolutely had to subdue Ōtsutsuki Kaguya.

Although the conflict he'd witnessed was only one possible future, the thought of it still bothered him. It wasn't that he held anything against Naruto for his choice, but he deeply resented that crafty old Sage of Six Paths for manipulating the situation. As for Naruto… he definitely needed a stern lesson too. Choosing principles over family ties!

Of course, Naruto wasn't the only one who had betrayed him when the Ninja Creed fractured; there were many others. He didn't have the explicit memories, but the combat experience remained.

"I never expected the Sage of Six Paths' Rinnegan dōjutsu to be that… Truly surprising!" Genichi's eyes gleamed.

Naruto, empowered by Six Paths Sage Mode and the Tomoe Rinnegan, had been strong in that future, but even before eating the God Tree Fruit himself, Genichi had still been stronger. Ultimately, he had clashed directly with the Sage and witnessed his Rinnegan dōjutsu firsthand. Genichi had previously speculated that the Six Paths Planetary Devastation might be one of the Sage's unique techniques, but it wasn't.

Sorting through the battle memories, Genichi's brow gradually relaxed. The Sage was indeed powerful. But, at least before Genichi ate the fruit, the Sage hadn't been able to defeat him either. Of course, Genichi hadn't been able to finish off the Sage in that future, because the Sage existed only as a spirit.

"Interesting…" Genichi suddenly chuckled.

This power-up had truly brought many unexpected surprises. The fracturing of the Ninja Creed had, ironically, provided much nourishment for his God Tree—the Sages of Mount Myōboku and Ryūchi Cave were quite the delicacies. That was why, within that hundred-year span, the God Tree Fruit had been potent enough to grant him an immortal body and a lifespan measured in millennia.

"If I plant a tree on the moon, will the Sage of Six Paths pop out again?" Genichi wondered. If the Sage didn't reveal himself willingly, Genichi currently had no way to deal with him. The Sage was hidden far too well, even better than Isshiki in his dimension. And confronting the Sage as a spirit himself would be incredibly dangerous; Genichi wasn't willing to take that risk. Unless… he could find the Sage's physical remains.

After this experience, Genichi felt that Earth had gained another hidden threat: the Sage of Six Paths himself.

"One step at a time. Deal with them slowly." Genichi pushed the thought aside and refocused.

During this power-up, he had planted the God Tree in the future and harvested its fruit in the final year of the hundred-year period. His choice had been to consume the entire fruit whole, just as Kaguya had done.

Genichi raised his hand, and an ice mirror materialized before him, reflecting his image. His appearance hadn't changed; no horns had sprouted. But when the Yin Seal mark on his forehead split open down the middle, a nine-tomoe blue Rinnegan slowly revealed itself. It was different from Kaguya's Rinne Sharingan.

This transformation didn't surprise Genichi. His eye had already been a six-tomoe blue Rinnegan. This evolution wasn't just a simple increase in dōjutsu power, nor was it a fusion of two different dōjutsu. It was an evolution from Kekkei Genkai to Kekkei Mōra.

The original dōjutsu of this eye were Tokotachi-no-Mikoto (Future Body) and Mitoshi-no-Mui (attacking the future from the present). Now, it had gained two additional Kekkei Mōra dōjutsu.

The first was Yomotsu Hirasaka. This space-time ninjutsu was not uncommon among the Ōtsutsuki and was extremely useful, far surpassing the space-time gates Genichi and Sasuke had developed through their Rinnegan. Even now, Genichi found this dōjutsu highly valuable.

The second Kekkei Mōra dōjutsu was named Kamimusubi-no-Mikoto. The name alone sounded impressive, ranking alongside Kaguya's Amenominaka and Momoshiki's Takamimusubinokami.

Amenominaka was essentially a space-time dōjutsu, granting access to six dimensions—lava, ice, supergravity, sand, acid, and the core dimension—allowing Kaguya to travel freely between them and instantly teleport enemies into them. For opponents without space-time abilities, being trapped in one was a death sentence. In the original timeline, Kaguya's use of this against Naruto and Sasuke seemed somewhat ineffective, except for the gravity dimension. But that was likely because she hadn't initially intended to kill them. Otherwise, she could have just dropped them directly into lava or acid.

As for Momoshiki's Takamimusubinokami, it absorbed all jutsu and chakra, using them to restore himself, and could then amplify and reflect the absorbed techniques. That was the extent of Genichi's current intel. It was powerful—could it absorb even All-Killing Ash Bones? Theoretically, yes. Its true strength depended on the user. Momoshiki getting defeated by Naruto, Sasuke, and Boruto just showed his own incompetence, not the dōjutsu's weakness.

And Kamimusubi-no-Mikoto… Genichi pondered its meaning, then decided a practical test was in order.

He dispelled the ice mirror and vanished from the meditation chamber.

Forest of Death

This place teemed with wildlife and was even one of Konoha's sources for summoning animals. Genichi appeared here. Without any visible action, a swift leopard nearby froze in place. He was about to test the effects of Kamimusubi-no-Mikoto.

POP!

The immobilized leopard exploded into a mist of blood.

But the next moment, the scattered blood mist converged, and bones, organs, and tissues rapidly reconstructed themselves. In the blink of an eye, the leopard reappeared, alive and whole.

Time reversal? No.

It was purely physical reconstruction, resurrection.

This was Kamimusubi-no-Mikoto!

In terms of resurrection, it seemed similar to the Rinnegan's Outer Path: Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique. But it was fundamentally different. Kamimusubi-no-Mikoto had no negative side effects; it only consumed dōjutsu power. The method of resurrection was also different, and crucially, it could be used on oneself. If his body were destroyed, this dōjutsu could instantly restore it. It was a healing ability, but more than that. It wasn't limited to living beings; it worked on inanimate objects too.

Watching the terrified leopard flee, Genichi turned his attention to a nearby boulder. The next moment, the large rock exploded, then just as quickly reformed, completely restored.

"Can it reconstruct souls as well?"

The leopard, which hadn't gotten far, was suddenly pulled back involuntarily, unable even to cry out, only staring at Genichi with tear-filled eyes. Genichi remained impassive, his eyes shifting to the purple Rinnegan – the pair from his clone, the eyes of his left face in the Four-Faced Deity state. Even without that form, he could now freely switch to these eyes, another benefit of Sage Transformation and cellular reconstruction.

This Rinnegan's dōjutsu was Futsu-no-Mitama, specializing in soul manipulation. He activated the dōjutsu, forming the Futsu-no-Mitama Sword, and struck the leopard's soul. Immediately, the soul shattered along with the sword, dissolving into countless motes of light. This was one aspect of Futsu-no-Mitama, a technique Genichi had yet to use against an enemy.

With the leopard's soul destroyed, Genichi used Kamimusubi-no-Mikoto again. The scattered points of light instantly reconverged, and the soul was restored.

"Excellent!" Genichi was overjoyed. With this dōjutsu, he had shored up one of his few weaknesses—his soul. Previously, an attack targeting his soul would have been very difficult to handle. Not anymore.

One eye, four dōjutsu. Genichi was very satisfied. Kaguya's Rinne Sharingan had two dōjutsu: Infinite Tsukuyomi and Amenominaka. The reason Genichi's eye possessed four was because it was a fusion of three dōjutsu types: Mangekyō Sharingan, Rinnegan, and Rinne Sharingan. Kaguya's forehead eye was only a Rinne Sharingan. From the perspective of the Rinne Sharingan component, both eyes possessed two unique techniques: Kaguya's Infinite Tsukuyomi and Amenominaka, and Genichi's Yomotsu Hirasaka and Kamimusubi-no-Mikoto.

As for which was stronger? Genichi still believed it depended on the user, not the technique.

He deactivated the blue nine-tomoe Rinne Sharingan, his eyes returning to normal.

"My previous deduction was correct. Eating the God Tree fruit directly does have an influence."

"The fruit is the God Tree's refinement and sublimation of natural energy, but it carries some of the negative aspects inherent in the tree, or rather, the Ten-Tails—at least for the one consuming it."

"The Ōtsutsuki clan's method of refining it into pills is a further purification."

Genichi thought back to his future battle with Momoshiki. Momoshiki's personality had changed drastically after absorbing Kinshiki. And Kinshiki had been turned into a fruit-like object to be eaten, not a pill. This meant, like eating the God Tree fruit, Momoshiki had been influenced by aspects of Kinshiki.

"The God Tree was once the Ten-Tails, and the Ten-Tails has its own consciousness."

Genichi frowned. He decided he would not let Tsunade and the others eat the fruit directly. He didn't want them ending up like Kaguya. That would be disastrous. What if some crafty old Sage manipulated them into turning against him?

Fortunately, using Electromagnet Release, Genichi had extracted the pill refinement technique from Isshiki's memories. So, for now, he still had to follow the Ōtsutsuki's path. The path he had been forging—Kekkei Genkai, Kekkei Tōta, Yin-Yang Release, Kekkei Mōra, Truth-Seeking Orbs, Sage Transformation—had reached its peak at the Six Paths level. Even that path could ultimately be traced back to the Ōtsutsuki.

Of course, Genichi wanted to blaze his own trail. But first, he needed to become stronger. So, he would plant the tree. As for creating a new system… After obtaining the Ōtsutsuki's refinement techniques, a spark of inspiration had ignited within him.

Sigh, still have to cross the river by feeling the Ōtsutsuki stones.

Shaking off those thoughts, Genichi returned to the gains from his power-up. Eating the God Tree fruit was the greatest reward… one of them.

During that century, Genichi had achieved another major breakthrough, completing a project he had envisioned long ago.
