Chapter 17 - The Might Of Vax

CHAPTER 00017

Akar's wound had worsened, and constantly fending off a rabid attacker was no help to the damages. However, he maintained his survival, ducking beneath blades, and took particular notice to one of the attacks Jonjimo made. When he tried to strike Akar against a wall, the young swordsman ducked, and Jonjimo's arm went straight into the wall, where it was stuck for a few moments before the literal sword man could unwedge it.

Despite his weakened state, Akar realized the only way he would win this battle was to exploit this weakness. He made an attempt, cornering himself against a wall, intending for the man of steel to come charging towards him.

Surely enough, the mindless beast kept up his swath of rampant attacks. Just before he was to be struck, Akar dropped to the ground, rolling behind Jonjimo and unsheathing his blades. However, Jonjimo's arms were not stuck in the wall like he'd hoped. Instead, his opponent was learning, grinning at Akar evilly. He spun around, raising his bladed appendages high above the now frantic swordsman's head.

As Jonjimo began to plummet his limbs at a frightening speed towards the earth, Akar dodged at the last second, hurling himself into the air. Thankfully, Jonjimo hadn't learned everything yet, as his second attack was blinded by his egotism towards his strength. Akar lined himself up as he fell, carving the air with his blades in a punishing final blow that sent Jonjimo even further into the ground than he already was.

Akar landed swiftly, taking one last slash at his opponent to make sure he was done for. He then collapsed to a seated position on the ground, laughing in Kitzimo's direction. The mobster no longer had a mutual expression.

He was now seething, in fact, disgusted by the fact that this runt he pulled from off the streets had defeated 90% of his posse. He whispered something to the last man standing beside him. The man, who was dressed in a tuxedo and sunglasses, nodded.

To Akar, from his low vantage point rested beside the result of his previous victory, the new challenger didn't look very special. He figured, though, that Kitzimo had been full of surprises earlier, so he stood up to be safe.

The man walked up to Akar, stopping before him. After a moment of awkward hesitation, he dropped to a fighting stance, raising his fists. Oddly, though, he didn't attack. Akar found the situation laughable, and decided to get the fight with over quickly.

He quickly moved behind the man, raising his sword to his neck and swiftly decapitating him. The man's head rolled off his torso, collapsing to the ground. Oddly though, there was no blood, and the body remained in a standing position. Kitzimo was not irate, either.

Something was off.

There was a small crackling noise from the ground below. Akar looked down to see that the head he had just sliced off was now disintegrating into a coarse powder, then evaporating into thin air.

This notion was made further petrifying as the same crackling noise soon came from the neck of the decapitated man, where the powder was now reassembling his head.

Akar hadn't killed him. He had revived himself.
