Chapter 115 - Chapter 115: White Envoy

Zhang Yi felt as though he'd been struck by a rampaging elephant. A powerful force slammed into his back, causing the blood in his body to surge violently as he was sent flying through the air.

"Cough!"

A mouthful of fresh blood spurted from his lips as he hit the ground with a heavy thud.

"You made a mistake," a calm voice spoke. "You should never have helped Smith in the first place."

The voice belonged to a man dressed in white, his tone cold and condescending.

"You chose to support Smith, and in doing so, you've made an enemy of Jinghai College."

"Do you really believe that someone from Guangxi is qualified to stand against the might of Jinghai College?"

The White Envoy took slow, deliberate steps toward Zhang Yi, his demeanor composed and unbothered.

Zhang Yi, though determined, was merely at the beginner level of the fourth rank—far from a match for the man approaching him. Bai Shi, the White Envoy, was operating on an entirely different level. To someone of his strength, Zhang Yi was hardly worth paying attention to.

Yet despite his serious injuries, Zhang Yi sneered from where he lay on the ground, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.

"I never imagined the so-called mighty Jinghai College—famed as the strongest academy in the entire southeastern region—would get so worked up over a few setbacks."

"In my eyes, your academy may be powerful, but you're nothing more than a pack of petty clowns, angry because you couldn't get your way."

His voice was hoarse but firm, filled with contempt.

The White Envoy's eyes narrowed.

He remembered all too well the event Zhang Yi was referring to.

Some time ago, Jinghai College's executive department had launched an all-out assault on the Dark City, aiming to capture Smith. The siege had been grand, causing a significant uproar across the southeastern region.

But during that mission, two powerful forces—the Guangxi Society and the Dusk Auction House—had secretly intervened, disrupting the operation.

They had successfully delayed the college's enforcers long enough for Smith to escape.

Back then, a fifth-level psychic named Li Tuo had been present in Dark City, which forced Jinghai College's team to hold back. Despite their numbers, they dared not take reckless action and had no choice but to retreat in humiliation.

That failed operation left Jinghai College furious.

Since then, the academy had marked every person and organization that had aided Smith.

Today was the beginning of their revenge.

"If you're looking for someone to blame," the White Envoy said icily, "then blame yourself—for being foolish enough to help Smith."

As he spoke, he slowly raised one finger, and at its tip, a green flame began to swirl, condensing into a glowing point of heat and death.

Just as he was about to release the attack—

Zhang Yi, face pale and body trembling, suddenly slapped his hand down onto a blood rune he'd secretly drawn on the ground with his own blood.

"Thunder Art – Blood Thunder!"

Boom!

A deafening thunderclap exploded from the small formation.

A blood-red lightning bolt tore through the air like a serpent, hissing with lethal speed. It shattered the ground beneath it as it raced straight for the White Envoy.

Caught completely off guard, the White Envoy didn't have time to dodge. The lightning struck him directly in the chest.

"Ugh!"

A pained groan escaped his lips as he staggered back several steps, his clothes scorched and his chest smoking.

"You actually had such a powerful technique hidden in your back pocket..." he muttered with a hint of surprise. "You live up to your name as the president of the Guangxi Society. I underestimated you."

Then his eyes turned cold again.

"But that's the end of the line for you."

This time, he didn't hold back.

With a wave of his hand and a flicker of green light, a roaring fire dragon burst forth—its body composed entirely of jade-colored flames.

The dragon snarled and lunged straight for Zhang Yi, its jaws wide open.

"Not good..."

That last blood thunder technique had been Zhang Yi's trump card, his final resort.

But it hadn't been enough.

Now, staring down the monstrous fire dragon, he had no way to defend or escape. Death was imminent.

He braced himself, preparing to accept his fate.

But just then—

"Water Style: Water Dragon Bullet Technique!"

Roar!

A powerful voice rang out from the side, followed by the thunderous cry of a dragon.

A massive water dragon surged in from the flank, clashing violently with the fire dragon. It wrapped around its flaming counterpart and bit down on its throat.

The two dragons struggled, twisted, and finally—vanished in a puff of steam.

The sudden intervention stunned both Zhang Yi and the White Envoy.

"Who?!"

The White Envoy turned sharply, his eyes narrowing behind his white mask.

A young man stood calmly at the entrance to the hall, hands still steaming from the jutsu he'd just performed.

"Smith?!"

Zhang Yi was stunned.

It really was him—Smith!

But... why was he here?

Wasn't he supposed to have already escaped and gone into hiding?

"President Zhang," Smith called out with a faint smile, walking slowly toward him. "Looks like I made it just in time."

"Smith..." The White Envoy's eyes lit up. "We've been scouring the region for you, and now you've walked straight into our hands. How convenient. This saves us a lot of trouble."

Smith raised an eyebrow, puzzled by the strange mask.

"Looking for me? Who exactly are you?"

Zhang Yi quickly answered from behind, his voice still weak. "Smith, he's Bai Shi. The White Envoy of Jinghai College!"

Smith's expression shifted slightly.

He knew the name.

Bai Shi—the deputy director of the Executive Department of Jinghai College. One of only seven fifth-level psychics in all of Jinghai City.

"Well, well," Smith said with a dry chuckle. "I didn't think Jinghai College would go this far. Sending a fifth-level psychic... just to bring me in? I'm flattered."

"You can drop the sarcasm," Bai Shi said coldly. "Stop wasting time. Come with me quietly. Resist, and I'll have no choice but to hurt you."

This encounter had started as a mission to punish Dark City, but finding Smith here was a stroke of luck.

If Bai Shi could capture him, their principal would be overjoyed.

"Go back with you?" Smith's tone darkened. "Not a chance. If you want to take me in... you'll have to prove you're capable."

"So arrogant!" Bai Shi sneered. "They say you're skilled. Let me test that for myself!"

Without another word, he stamped his foot.

With a sonic boom, Bai Shi turned into a blur and charged straight at Smith, his fist gleaming with green fire.

Smith didn't dodge.

He stepped forward and met the punch head-on.

Boom!

Fist collided with fist, and the shockwave shook the entire hall.

Despite being a beginner at the third stage, Smith's use of Sage Mode amplified his power dramatically, allowing him to match Bai Shi's blow. Both combatants were forced backward by the force of the clash.

"Thirty-Day Fire!"

Regaining his footing, Bai Shi summoned more of his emerald flames. They spread into a massive sea of fire, surging toward Smith.

"Water Style: Water Formation Wall!"

Smith quickly formed a hand seal and spat a stream of water from his mouth. It expanded into a thick wall of liquid, shielding him from the flames.

Sizzle!

Steam exploded into the air as water met fire.

Visibility dropped instantly as the entire hall filled with vapor.

With a wave of his hand, Bai Shi created a gust of wind to clear the fog.

But the battle had already drawn attention.

From outside, dozens of footsteps thundered toward them.

"Boss! What happened?! Who did this?!"

Wang Bao burst into the hall with a group of Guangxi Society guards.

Zhang Yi, still injured, raised his trembling hand and pointed at the White Envoy.

Wang Bao's eyes flared with rage.

"You dare hurt our president?! I'll tear you apart!"

He charged forward—but Smith stopped him.

"You're no match for him," Smith said, blocking his path. "Take Zhang Yi and go. Now."

Bai Shi was a fifth-level psychic. Any attempt to fight him would be suicide.

Reluctantly, Wang Bao obeyed, gathering the wounded Zhang Yi and retreating with the others.

Soon, only Smith and Bai Shi remained in the ruined hall.

"Do you honestly think you can defeat me alone?" Bai Shi asked, his tone calm but dangerous.

Smith narrowed his eyes.

"I should be asking you that. Lin Hai actually sent you alone? I hope Jinghai College can handle losing one of their elite fifth-level mutants."

His words were icy.

He hadn't expected the college to be so ruthless, so determined to eliminate anyone who supported him.

If he'd arrived even a minute later, Zhang Yi would have died.

Now that it had come to this—Smith wouldn't let Bai Shi leave alive.
