Chapter 159 - ???

After exchanging a few pleasantries with passing staff, Hui Teng and Zhao Changshou stepped inside.

"You and your team did an excellent job on this building."

Hui Teng remarked.

"The addition of the elevator made things much more convenient for everyone, especially the workers."

He said to the Extraordinary-tier architect.

"I got the idea from the Dreamland Tower."

"Implementing it wasn't an issue after that."

Zhao Changshou replied with a faint smile.

Their conversation ended as the elevator reached the top floor.

As they stepped out, Hui Teng glanced at the 26 years old brain box.

"Rodo, are you participating in the party hosted by the city's military tonight?"

"A colleague invited me, so I suppose I will."

Rodo replied.

"I heard it's going to be larger than the last one."

"It's a pity I won't be able to attend."

Zhao Changshou smiled wearily.

Glancing at Zhao Changshou, Hui Teng reminded.

"You know, with your current appearance, you look no old than fifty."

"You could easily start a new chapter in life all over again."

"I have no intention of starting over.."

"I'm too old to start growing together with a partner all over again."

"That's for young ones like you."

Zhao Changshou shook his head.

"How about Elder Miriam then?"

"You're both experienced in the aspect of companionship."

"You can skip the unnecessary drama of marriage and start at the level that gives peace of mind."

Hui Teng suggested.

"Level that gives peace of mind?"

Zhao Changshou questioned as he gave Hui Teng a flat look.

"Don't look at me like that."

"Isn't that what you old folks usually say?"

"...'love isn't in beauty or money, but the peace that comes with your partner's presence', shit like that."

Hui Teng said.

"You must have gotten caned a lot growing up."

Zhao Changshou sighed as he walked faster.

"You have no idea."

Hui Teng replied with a grin as he caught up with Zhao Changshou and Rodo.

Arriving at Bao Xiu'er's office, they were all given seats.

After a brief exchange of greetings, Hui Teng made his intensions known.

"That won't be a problem."

"Just fill in the amount needed and your signature."

Bao Xiu'er said, handing an inked scroll to Zhao Changshou.

"It would be better if you requested for Green bronze-tier mist cores or higher."

"His lordship no longer deposits Black iron-tier mist cores in the reserve."

"I only gain access to them when subjects deposit them directly."

She added.

Hearing Bao Xiu'er words to Zhao Changshou, Hui Teng's brows furrowed in surprise.

'There's no shortage of Black iron-tier fog monsters in the monster ranches... so why aren't Black iron-tier mist cores being deposited?'

Perhaps he's holding them for emergencies.'

He thought to himself as Zhao Changshou reviewed the document and signed the document.

After thanking Bao Xiu'er for her service and wishing her a pleasant day, they took their leave.

Rodo remained behind to sort out the remaining mist cores in the reserve.

Back in the parking lot, Ji Xen was already waiting.

Hui Teng and Zhao Changshou boarded the sandstrider once more.

..

"Waitress, three plates of Desert Lizard Skewers and a bottle of Sunset Wine, please."

Michael placed the order as he sat with Dai Lui and Xiao Hou.

"How are you preparing for the party tonight?"

Xiao Hou asked, glancing at the sand corpse summoner.

"The past few hours have been torture!"

Dai Lui groaned.

"Mr. Remiel made sure the entire military go about telling everyone about the party."

"I miss when the city was not more than 5,000 in numbers."

He said while relaxing on a soft couch.

"That must've been exhausting."

"After running around nonstop for the past thirteen days, I finally decided to take a break today."

"I can't believe Wu Tu is still going at that pace."

"Gavi and Kelvin can only endure since they're the scouts of our team."

Xiao Hou said.

"With how quickly the first army is conquering new regions, I guess Wu Tu has no choice but to keep expanding our knowledge of surrounding territories."

"I only get time off because there are enough architects to rotate shifts."

Michael joined the conversation.

"Don't forget you also earn ten times the minimum wage of a Yellow gold-tier lifestyle professional."

"I've seen people working overtime just to earn more mist cores."

Dai Lui said to Michael.

"Are you serious, right now?"

Michael scoffed.

"You barely do anything but train, yet you earn 100 Black iron-tier mist cores daily."

He said.

"And you make ten times that."

"So yeah, you can afford to enjoy your break."

Dai Lui said.

"To make Dai Lui's point stronger, I only earn 500 mist cores despite being a rank higher than you."

"And I work longer hours than you do!"

Xiao Hou cut in.

"See?!"

"You architects take a lot of this city's wealth."

Dai Lui groaned.
